I got some more info on that Dodge Dakota. It's a 2001 v8 SLT Quad cab with 160k miles. Anyone have experiences with Dodges?
Our office experience is stay away. We jumped ship from Dodge in 2000 after Dad's 2001 2500 dropped two trannies, an engine, and burned through five brake pads in a year and less than 75k miles. Switched to Ford and since then we've had one 250 blow an engine before 215 easily. But, that's only one experience, not a great reference for every Dodge product. Before we jumped ship, our company had used mostly Dodges for close to fifteen years with eh results before the trucks hit about 150k and needed to be replaced.
They're asking $2600. It's got one major fist sized dent right behind the right headlight and the clearcoat is gone on most of the car as well as paint peeled down to primer on the hood. Unfortunately it isn't 4wd.
I had an option to buy one that was a 2001 with the 4 door cab, and it was a neat little truck. $1,500 but the check engine light came back po420 which means in California I don't want it. It ran ok otherwise, had 150k miles about, and had the 360 Magnum. Our family friends have a son that works at a tow yard and called me to come see it cause he thought I'd be interested in it. The guy they took it from stored a bit of coke in it and a brown recluse that he had in a jar with little bugs to feed it... yeah. The truck was nice but it kinda weirded me out.
I used my dad's car to the store and saw this yesterday: [t]http://puu.sh/jmeut.jpg[/t]
I almost bought a Dakota quad cab V8(High Output version, too) but it got sold between me withdrawing cash at the bank and going back to buy it. I remember it drove really well and was quite roomy but the interior felt rather cheapy.
If you're talking commodores, then yeah, pretty easy if you're going LS to LS, going from V6 to LS is a pain and you're better off buying one with a LS.
I thought mechanically it was straightforward if you have a hoist, just remove the V6 carriage and swap in the V8 one + trans and everything is bolt on. new fuel pump and lines(?) would be straightforward too reaaally only curious because I would love to swap an LSA into my $500 VX. Eh now after looking at some LSA harnesses they look easy enough to build. Would probably be best getting a tuneable ecu that would be able to communicate with the bcm. I don't think a VF ecu would like a VX bcm. I can get an LSA cheaper than what most blowers cost, that's really the only reason I'd like to do the swap. plus finding a good condition v8 vx for cheap is too much hassle I reckon
The joy comes after you've done swap, if the car hasn't been burned to the ground already Semi-related, LS swaps are supposedly easy though right? I'm talking mostly about the electrical side of things though
small block swaps are easier
small block swaps are easier
If it fits, it swaps

Getting more power; so hard to decide what route to take.
We got it going now, either the gas gauge lies or there is a fuel tank problem. Put a half a tank in it and it runs like a top now.
I bet the float-thingy is stuck in the fuel pump and shows a higher value then real
Just got back from a weekend of drifting in Latvia. The best part? We met Haddaway (the guy who made "What is love") at our hotel and hung out with him the entire evening. I even got his phone number lol.
Ive been on a sailboat in california the last day drinking margaritas and pretending to be a rich white guy.

I know some people joke that certain cars drive like boats but I didn't think it was in such a literal sense https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/cto/5149291531.html
What would I have to do to get my dart across the ocean? Kind of a life goal but I was thinking when its done to have it shipped to Europe and tour all of Europe and eventually asia/russia with it. Do canada and the states first, get a bumper sticker or something from every place I go and slap it on the inside of the trunk lid
A lot of floaties, a couple oars, and some patience should do the trick.
That is actually awesome
Apparently he's really close friends with Mika Häkkinen, former F1 champion from Finland, and he would tell hilarious stories about him. He told about one night where he and Mika had been drinking heavily all night. And when the two of them had emptied 3 bottles of Grey Goose vodka, Haddaway had to call a friend to come pick him up. So Haddaway told his friend who picked him up "Dude I can't even walk or remember my own name you have to carry me into your car" and then Mika shouted with his Finnish accent "Yah focking poosy what de fock I'm tursty get me a beer". Haddaway nailed the Finnish/English accent and I was rolling on the floor laughing. Holy shit he had some fun stories.
Got my drivers LCA replaced yesterday and I was astounded on how easy it was to do, I mean I figured it would be easy, but not that easy. It also corrected the clunk I sometimes hear and my steering wheel being slightly crooked. Then I made some socketed LEDs for my gauge cluster and my mechanical oil pressure gauge, looks pretty good but not bright enough; whatever, I'll just get some better LEDs at some point. Next is to try and make the halos brighter in my headlights. Only famous people I've ever met were the bands Walls of Jericho and Ill Nino, they were doing a gig at a local bar/club called Bourbon Street. WoJ's drummer is a fucking funny dude and the singer lady (whose name escapes me) is a real sweet heart. Ill Nino are laid back as fuck too. Was trying to meet Otep but shes not exactly what you'd call a "people person".

Uh, DP, what do you know about repairing wooden planes?
Went on vacation for the weekend, about 180 miles away. Put about 100 miles on the tank before we left. Treated it like a racecar up and over the mountains through passing lanes. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-08-02%2017.10.45.png[/t] Couldn't believe it but the gauge went all the way back to full and it got some great mileage on the way home too. I think replacing the cap and rotor along with the thermostat with a random autozone one I've had in a drawer for 3 years really improved my MPG. Really happy with the car now, I guess I'll reward it by converting it over to OBD1 MPFI. Really beats the 23mpg I've been getting in my Integra with A/C...
what app is that? I want it to tell me that I'm getting 12 miles per gallon
www.fuelly.com Just make a shortcut to a url of http://www.fuelly.com/dashboard They have an app for iOS I think, dunno the mobile site is really light and nice to use. Well, totally legit now. Re-updated the website with a new logo and new look. www.curtisracks.com I have had 3 orders so far, and to me that is an awesome success for only offering things for sale for 2 weeks. And Slayer, two of those are for rusty EF civics. The other just a standard rack I make. No idea what it's going on.

The classic VW guys would probably be interested too, dunno if there's as big of a classic VW scene down there as up this way but if you post on like Seattle/Portland/SFBay craigslists you should be able to get some interest maybe if you had some pre-made racks to advertise. Dunno if you want to get too backlogged on orders though. :v: The EF guys who have actual nice cars which have actual money put into them are usually pretty cool. The overall scene is pretty tough to sell quality parts to but there's definitely demand out there if you can find it.
The only thing Serj is I'd lighten the body text a bit, your logo is red and white so your text color against a red background should be closer to white than a mid grey. Site and logo both look great otherwise, good luck! I might need a rack soon depending on what I pick up. Also the logo at the bottom of your liability notice on the projects page could probably be transparent.

I don't bolt em down, i just stage it for a picture. I actually knocked a lot of the cost off by making them standard U bolt racks that go onto pre-existing cross-bars, or OEM ones, so that all i have to focus on is the rack. The problem with say a VW beetle, is there is a very specific rack, with bolt downs that fit it, which look nice, and I can't really make that specific rack. But other more recent Vw's I can handle. The two I have made for the EF's are for two guys who do a "dontgiveaf***" thing. Ya know oil coolers mounted to the outside, leather belt straps for hood ties - etc... and rust everywhere. The racks I'm making for those are a really nice pine, to cut cost, and roughing it up a little, maple cross-pieces to make it more sturdy, and 1/2" copper rod on both sides to make barriers.
A couple years ago, I just started randomly tracking my gas milage in a Google Docs spreadsheet because I wanted to fuck around with the formulas. Then I wanted to fuck around with Python / SQLite, so I turned my spreadsheet into a webapp. Shittier than Fuelly, but it does the job and I'm already used to it.
i just use my trip computer

The racks should look great on those cars too, beats some crappy yakima stuff which is just sticker slapped like everyone else. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-08-03%2000.39.54.png[/t] I'm in love with my D15, it might be "gutless" flatout up a hill compared to brand new cars but shit it feels great around town and has plenty of go. I don't understand how the D series motors get such stupid better mileage than the B series motors.
