Get a pickup truck. :v:

Why are all of the ones you're looking at so old? You said your budget was $4000, I saw a lot of cars at or under $4,000 that were 2000 or newer.
I'd say take the Merc if it runs good. It looks pretty well cared-for.
That's part of what was so attractive about it to me and my father, it looks like the owner really loved and cared for it, it's in great shape.

I don't really know, it wasn't a conscious choice to look for older vehicles. I just picked out what looked promising.

I actually didn't notice they were all from the 90's except one until now, actually. :v:
4WS Preludes are awesome, the automatic though is mediocre. Those B20A motors also seem to have a habit of smoking and getting worn out. For 2300ish it would be a perfectly decent buy. I posted a ton of cars a few posts back too, they're only Hondas though but I'd consider them.

What is a B20A motor, is that related to the pop-up headlights or is that the motor inside the engine compartment?
I'm not gonna hyperlink these because I'm lazy. But take a look at these

A PT Cruiser? Do you hate this guy or what?
Mercs are kickass, the only thing is when they start to go out they go all the way out. If it runs right it'll keep running right as long as you take care of it. But it's worth the extra attention to own one, they are very nice cars.

The B20A is one of the styles of engine they had in the Honda Prelude 3rd Generation

Look, man, I'm just linking everything under $4000 that looks decent. I don't know what his style is.
Just a quick thing, if anyone is nice enough to look around for me, I can't drive manual and my dad doesn't want any cars with salvage titles or to buy from a dealership. Thanks for looking though, there are definitely a few to check out that you linked.
Oh shit, dude.
I know you said you don't want a truck but you might wanna check this out
https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5184678479.html
That's a damn good deal if there's nothing wrong with it.
There's no way there's nothing wrong with that. My first thought: flood car.

Sorry if I haven't been very clear about this, I honestly don't know what my style is either. I want a reliable car that's got some pep to it and doesn't make me die from boredom looking at it that isn't a truck or van.
Yeah I mean for 2.5k that's either a typo or there was something wrong with it, but it's still worth checking out. It could be one of those rare good deals.

Here's another. 4k

I'll show it to my dad, my brother wants a truck so he might be interested, but I'm kinda thinking with Grenadiac about it, 2400 for that sounds... off.
that isn't a truck
Man quit bein' car racist :v:
I know your budget's 4k but it'd be worth learning manual for this 67 Merc: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5150116701.html It looks fucking immaculate.

I hate driving my family's truck, I'm sorry. Big trucks just aren't my style, I like quick and responsive. :v:
I'd go for the '67 Merc or the '63 Jeep. Classics are super rewarding. The Jeep looks like it needs some meticulous un-fucking though.

What kind of truck is your family's truck? Cause my truck is a dream to drive. Pretty quick and responsive. Enough that I can still effectively be an asshole driver.
Gren how about this? https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/5184656333.html
I'll offer no advice on that, I'm super biased against Japanese cars. But if you want a car that looks like it fell out of a synthwave video, that one fits the bill.

It's a 2003 Chevy Suburban. It's a lot more responsive after my father replaced the sway bars and brakes, but it's still a big truck and it feels sluggish and cumbersome to drive.
That's because it's a Suburban. They are heavy and unresponsive. How about the '67 Merc, Starlight? That's my #1 so far if you can stretch your dollar a bit or talk him down.
Should learn manual anyways. It's a more pleasurable driving experience. Automatics are often slow and sluggish and can leave you very disappointed when you're expecting it to kick down. Certainly don't avoid a car because it's a manual.

I plan to learn manual, don't worry. Just knowing myself though, I'll always prefer automatic just because it's a simpler driving experience.

Suburbans are really bad at being big sluggish heavy beasts.
Also they're not technically trucks. They're extended length SUVs. So it handles really different than an actual truck would.
A standard F150 weighs between 1,000 and 1,700 pounds less than a Suburban, has a shorter wheelbase (tighter turns), and would be more responsive.

It's a gorgeous car, but I don't know if my dad could stretch the budget by an extra thousand. I'll ask him about it.

https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/cto/5184609481.html This one might be worth the effort to repaint it. Gren what do you think?
Looks like the 67 Mercedes is a no, the extra 1k is too much of a stretch.
I'm gonna advise against the Samurai because you're going to want to go off roading with it and someone will have to scrape you out of it when you roll it off a cliff because they're so high-centered. :v:
Shame he can't manage the Merc. Any cars from that period have tons and tons of character, you'd want to keep it and take care of it for a long time.

This one looks promising, too. $4200, you could probably get him under $4000
