Tomorrow the 23rd. I will be 31. Fuck. :suicide: And broke. And get no gifts, or money or otherwise anything. Wouldn't be so bad, I could just get myself something, but my job has been so slow the last 2 and a half months I'm nearly broke. I get paid as such: 10/hr WHILE working on a vehicle, and what ever tiny amount the boss decides for little things around the shop. I literally worked 2 hours last week, I made a GRAND TOTAL of 20 bux.... but he paid me $100 out of pocket. Someone PLEASE tell me this is colossally wrong and I need to tell him to go fuck himself in the face because I really need a reason to fucking let this guy have it. -/-stress
I mean I'm pretty sure that you have to be paid for being there regardless of whether or not there's a car to work on... Like, even if it counted as a commission based environment I'm 99% sure that a company that pays per unit or on sales is legally required to have a base salary/wage to cover in case you don't make minimum. If he's only paying you for the time you spend working on whatever it is you fix but you're there 40+ hours a week it's 100% illegal. You're at your place of employment, regardless of whether or not there's something to do you're "at work" and you need to be paid for every minute that you're there. Especially overtime. How long has this been going on? I'd get a lawyer involved if it's been a long time.
Always relevant.
Reminds me how I was talking to a guy about my next car (something simple and a bit sporty looking), and he tried his very best for 20 minutes to convince me that a Miata with a Ls1 swap was the best way to go. "RATIOS"
Its a manual GS. The only issues are faded paint on the top and hood. It's bone stock. I also see another Integra with 206k miles but otherwise it looks good for $2500. [editline]22nd August 2015[/editline] As much as I'd love something cool or quirky I'll probably end up with a late 90s/early 2000s civic.
You don't really want a "early 2000s" Civic unless you're getting an EP3 Si. EK 96-00 Civics can be pretty good but most of them lack swaybars, even front swaybars which make them into a numb feeling, unpredictable, understeery bland econobox. EX Civics will always have a vtec motor with shorter gearing and a front swaybar at least which are usually a good buy if you can find one that's nice. Civic Coupes seem to usually be the ones which are shafted on swaybars as some EG 92-95 Civics don't have swaybars at all just like the EK's. Integras are all around nicer cars, more sound deadening, better interior, better motors, better suspension, better brakes, equal length axles as well. However they do get moderately worse city mileage and often highway when they aren't treated well.
Friend is legit afraid of his GSR getting stolen (and for good reason). He threads a chain through the back wheel, around the axle, and locked it with a protected masterlock. He has full coverage on this $1200 vehicle and has the power locks disabled. These vehicles are almost stolen daily in the cities.

My roommate has been telling me it's not legal and because It's technically my first on the books job I'm kinda struggling to deal with all this. I know it's absurd and hard to make sense of, me being 31 only ever having had one real job. It's not like I haven't tried or went out of my way, it's situational and people tend to not like my face and so decide(d) I shouldn't work there. It's explosively embarrassing to admit that I don't understand any of this shit, then I get "well whats so hard about it?" Well fuck, how am i to tell if I don't even know where or what the start is? I gotta do something, If it comes down to it I'll lawyer up with the guy that handled my roommates last case, which worked out pretty decent for her. Regardless I gotta let him know it's not legel to have me hang around the shop and make pennies all the while getting chewed out because he thinks he knows more then I do. Every other mechanic I've met has only shown me "tricks", not any real technique, skill or method to fix anything. All stuff I'd figure out eventually anyway. Now I feel like I'm just complaining, Imma go to sleep and forget my job sucks. A while back there was a 540k mile CRX HF that got totaled out which was still on it's original 8 valve HF motor and trans if I recall. It had a bullet proof build up of sludgy shit all around the block due to D series motors being leaky shits. Unfortunately the tail lights pushed through to about where the wheels were so that car's journey to the moon and back had ended.

Theres someone already here that dds onen of those. He cit off the rear axle and shortened it a little so you can actually drive it around.
Like this? I'm not a big fan of the bobbed style, personally. The truck is still gonna be huge, the extra length will hardly make a difference. I guess it might be good for off roading, if you can find anywhere with the space for it.

It also keeps bridge toll down. You pay per axle here.
I bought a thing: [t]http://i.imgur.com/7mVEbSC.jpg[/t] Husqvarna CT130, 16hp 4-stroke briggs & stratton, 6-speed sequential gearbox, etc. Mowing the lawn is gonna be a lot more pleasant from now on.

But seriousness, I have an 03 chevy malibu and it's off the road. I want to sell this piece of trash before I move across the country, it's got like 206,000 miles, the gas gauge doesn't work, the right mirror is busted, there's like 5 sensors going off (although I think most of those may be malfunctioning sensors) and some shit going on that's unknown to me in the front left tire, possibly the control arm but idrk. It's also got rust on the side and a busted rear bumper and the gas cap door rusted off :v: What the hell should I do with this thing, cause I really wanna just scrap it, spent about 1,000 on it a year ago. Curious if I could actually sell it or if scrapping is the way to go.

So my friend who smashfaced his jeep is trying to decide which new car to buy, bmw 3 series (not the i6 one sadly), or a chevy ss. I did some light research on the ss and its a rebranded holden commodore vf with an ls3 shitting out 415 hp and around the same torque, and is a cousin to the caprice ppv, which my uncle drives as a hyway patrol car and loves. The descision comes down to 1 thing, the commodore gets around 15mpg and makes roadtrips far more expensive, whereas the beemer is just about as fast, looks better, and gets at least twice the mpg. Any opinions?
