Well, things may be looking up - don't know if anyone remembers my last rant about my neighbors, but they're still annoying. Anyway, the people across the street and us (me/fiancee) are friends. They're cool people. The husband came over here from the UK, and is into pretty much all the things I like, minus cars - but he's cool. And they have kids that our kids play with. Come to find out, they have downstairs neighbors, and they're getting kicked out for smoking weed on EVERYONE's porch - including ours, and everyone naturally complained to the landlord, so they're getting the boot. This is a house, split into two levels, 3 bedrooms up top, two on the bottom. So as it turns out the landlord charges the exact same as I pay now. Except instead of crappy neighbors, we have the awesome neighbors that I like, there's also a backyard, and a shared backyard that is huge, front yard, and a garage. No driveway, and cars don't fit in the garage (old school small) but it's something. So I'm really hoping to snipe that deal in two weeks when they move out. The unfortunate side of things is I might not get paid then yet... so I may lose it, which would suck. AS I type this at 10pm, the net door neighbors are outside yelling at eachother through the door... I want out so bad. It's just so annoying. The problem with the rate at which I get paid, is we do work on a boat, then ask the owner for money, give him a breakdown of what we have done, and then he pays... except he takes forever. So for example, this entire month, I have not been paid. I have not paid rent yet, and here it is the 25th of the month. The guy claims to have sent money two days ago. He lives an hour and a half away... he also claims to have mailed it last week... etc. etc... so here we are. I'll get enough money to pay rent... and then not have any more money to move somewhere else... fuck. Also, here's a Rant about UPS. I shipped a roof rack to Portland last week. The cost that I charged was $60.00 for shipping. it cost $60.46 to ship. They charged my paypal $60.46. Then UPS charged paypal $60.46 again immediately. Then I called them... they said wait till saturday as it's just "pending" and then it will go through and then it will show that the other charge is still pending and we will refund it. "ok" Called monday, as they're closed all weekend. They have no record of the shipment even though I have tracking number and everything. Won't do shit. Call paypal, they say they'll reverse the charge but that it takes 3 days. "ok fine" Then later I get an email stating all the dimensions I labeled for the box were exactly one inch off. Literally I put 37x39x8 and they said it was 38x40x9. I'm sorry but I am a fucking finish carpenter and I measured that box and added a little just so I didn't have to pay, why would it be exactly an inch larger on all sides? I know how to freaking measure, and when I say I made it large, I mean one side was like 7 3/8" so I said 8". Apparently that's not enough wiggle room. They then stated in the email it should be $74.09 to ship and not $60.46 and also said not to pay as the difference has been charged to my paypal. "fine" BUT, they did not charge me the difference and instead charged me $74.09 ON TOP of what I already paid. SO I am out $194.92 for shipping this thing, literally made a loss on the whole rack, and no one seems to want to give me my damn money back. Fuck you UPS. I'm trying to run a business here.
Need some help identifying some rims.. They're 5x114.3 and my buddy has them on his Talon. They say "Honda Motor Co Ltd" and "15x6.5JJ +65" on them (that fwd offset, lol). Can't figure out what they are AT ALL!! Machined face with black inside the spokes. Don't ever trust terrible companies like that with the ability to rerun your credit card info. Paypal nearly fucked me out of $1500 once and about $300 of that magically disappeared into nothing. I personally refused to use the service for many years until buying car parts on ebay just became a necessity. I would never use the service as a seller ever again.
Paypal and UPS are both awful. Got triple charged once ($105.95 x 3) while shipping a huge batch of train things we sold on ebay. Just the worst. Always use USPS or FedEx when available, and just 100% fuck Paypal.
Damn, around here UPS are the good ones.
BUT, they did not charge me the difference and instead charged me $74.09 ON TOP of what I already paid. SO I am out $194.92 for shipping this thing, literally made a loss on the whole rack, and no one seems to want to give me my damn money back. Fuck you UPS. I'm trying to run a business here.
Honestly dude, just use USPS. In most cases it's cheaper for me and I already pay taxes for that shit. And for some reason, it's always faster than UPS or FedEx. Same for receiving. When I buy off RockAuto I usually hope I get the USPS shipping as it's literaly a 2 day wait instead of the 5-14 day on UPS or FedEx.
I've only experienced UPS through Amazon, whether it be me buying shit or them giving me free shipping to send items back, and I've always had good experiences. Getting stuck with UPS SurePost sucks sometimes but the packages still make the prime 2 day commitment. Whenever I ship stuff out on my own I always try to use the USPS flat rate boxes. Makes shipping so much easier and cross country only takes a handful of days anyway.
Normally I always use usps because they have never messed up on any of my stuff. Ups happened to be like $10.00 cheaper and now I know not to fall for that junk again. It wound up being the same price plus $100. I have been on the phone with paypal, ups, the bank forever. Ups way of handling it is to pretend the order never happened and theu cant see the tracking number. So my new thought is if they have no record of me shipping anything, I must not have shipped anything and its an error debit. So I asked paypal to give me all my money back, not just the overcharge. They opened a ticket and will tell me whats up in three days. Im already on track to use only fedex or usps from now on.

Man literally fuck NJ. The cost of my black jeep on state legal minimum coverage (3rd party liability for property damage and bodily injury) is $350 a month. If I want to add my civic to my insurance it ADDS $1400 to that. That'd be $21,000 per year to cover like damaging someones mailbox, and to cover some person who "ow my neck hurts" while paying nothing for any damage to my body or my vehicle in the event of an accident. This state is literal shit.
how many duis/ accidents have you had lol. Im 19 and pay like $100 a month.
Hobo days just got a lot better
Dakota days actually So I did some research last night but as a cop I wanna verify with you. If I have the seller go online and fill out a sellers permit and print it out we get 30 days of not needing registration and 2 weeks of not needing insurance, right?

I think might be the right spot to put this. I have a T-shirt which is from an Indy 500 race which is based from the Duke team. Dennis "Duke" Nalon to be exact. Which is from 1950 to 1954. I don't know how much the selling value would be.
Yo dudes, before I say anything else can I suggest being gentle? I'm not a proper mechanic, tbf I don't know much about cars/bikes at all besides driving them( Near passing driving test now). But due to me starting a 2 year college course ( Im 18 ), I was thinking of buying a 125cc bike simply because of how cheap they are to run compared to a car. I've got an imagine of what I want in my head and a price margin but no clue on what is actually worth my money..? Things I'm looking for; - Scrambler/Dirtbike type looking -Road legal -125CC( 60/70mph??) -For about £1250?
Probably a really dumb question but why a 40 year old car and not something more newer and better as a daily drive?
Some people care about more than just going from point a to point b, would be my guess.
Probably a really dumb question but why a 40 year old car and not something more newer and better as a daily drive?
Really just depends on the condition, while I don't imagine an old BMW being comparable to say a older Civic. If it's easy to work on, in overall good mechanical shape, cheap and parts are aplenty. It's always far more environmentally friendly, cost effective and personally rewarding to drive something older. Provided it's a carbureted model not one with either mechanical or nightmare inducing Bosch Jetronic fuel injection it should be pretty easy to work on and there really won't be that much mechanically which keeps it going down the road.

All my friends want to castrate me because I said I'd be ok with a 4cyl vehicle as a new purchase. Ford's new I4 makes more HP and Torque (and better MPG) than my (shitty and dated) v6. Unless I get a truck, I'd be perfectly ok with my dd being a 4cyl ecobox. And with v8's hitting the dust in the coming years, I'm ok with smaller, but turbo/supercharged 4 and 6cyl engines coming to market.
I just took a spontaneous trip with a friend to a drag strip in Sweden to test out jocks drag Supra. Recorded some sound if anyone wants to hear a sick 2JZ getting punished! It was a 1/8 mile, best time was 6.9 seconds. First time on a prepped drag strip.
