Has anyone here built a kit car? My dad wants to get either a Factory Five hot rod or a Caterham Seven 260. The FF is undoubtedly cooler and easy mounting for a variety of stupid cheap V8's, or even a Coyote. The Seven would make a far better track day car but not so great for cruising. Price would be somewhat cheaper for the Hot Rod. The Catetham probably would be easier to build from being smaller, not to mention the engine would be lighter. Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing?
I helped build a factory five 33' coupe or w.e There is soo many things you can add to them and they are pretty much a direct bolt together. 10/10 would buy for myself. [editline]28th August 2015[/editline]
Probably armor all. They put that in my car before I bought t and it with rubber floors the whole interior was slipperier than a porno slip n slide for ovr a year. The smell just faded out after 2 years. Have fun.
I use armorall but it wears off in a month and the smell is unnoticeable after 3 days. Maybe it's because I live in Texas and let my interior bake. [editline]28th August 2015[/editline] Never apply it to your steering wheel. [editline]28th August 2015[/editline]
Selling it to fund the big block swap, $1850! Only got the car for $400 so I cant complain.
You make me mad. I can't turn around profits like that.. I try selling things and alwase brake even or make like 20$. Most I've ever made was on my vw beetle both gut it for 400$ had put around 200$ in it and sold it for 700. I should have asked 1,200$. It was perfect....but had a dead cylinder. [editline]28th August 2015[/editline]
Thats what the stock 225 puts to the wheels if your lucky. The high output super six was only available in 1978 and 1979 in the aspen and volare, never in a duster. Its also not shitty genadiac. Yhe slant six came in pretty much every car dodge put out, including the charger. If you wanted 20mpg after the embargo, you got a slant. It also caused things like the feather duster and dart light, which had aluminum body components and super choked carbs netting 30mpg. You also gotta understand mustang sally is used to driving big blocks, diesels, etc and hes taking the easy way out. The slant has a lot of potential. A client whos boat were working on (who has 4 1970 mint roadrunners, a 1965 300 with 383, 1970 barracuda, 2 hellcat challengers, 3 convertible GTOs and a myriad of other cars) got a slant six 1964 dart convertible, and paid an offenhauser modifier $15,000 to build the motor. It is an n/a slant pushing 425hp at the crank off a double weber setup, and sounds so much more horrifying than a lopey big block. You gotta think about the interest level. Lots of people on here get tired of the 350 swap. I go to car shows and thats all I see. Yes its an intelligent easy to deal with solution but its not interesting. Every time I take my car to a car show I stand in front of the hood and dont quit talking because people wanna know what yhe hell is wrong with me and why is there a turbo on this slant.... it draws more of a crowd than a big block dart. Unless a mopar purist comes by... they dont like it. Thats fine though. Also dont you wanna evebtually tell someone whos car you just smoked at the strip was by a slant six?
Indeed a 350 is not.....unique. but it surly beats the car still in the garadge with the owner trying to find parts / block / go fast parts for XYZ unique engine. Now what I like to see is old mercades gas motors or need diesels in rat rods and stuff... That would be cool.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze the most power possible out of a 48 Ford/Mercury flathead V8 without overheating all the time. Turbo/supercharging is not an option. Any ideas?
Two radiators
All I'm seeing is flatheads burn up fast if you try to make them run. Maybe not an ideal hot rod motor after all, they sure do sound cool with isky cams though. I'll probably let this guy keep his, he was asking $450 for it. I still haven't started on my dream rod, can't decide on the motor. Don't want to invest anything if I can't come up with a good vintage motor. I wanted to do a big block (was eyeballing a 440 from an RV) but I don't think that's practical for street use with the size radiator I could fit in the '31. I'll never put a 350 in a car I build. I don't really want flat out dangerous levels of speed, I just want a cruiser that's fun to drive and lay down rubber in. I'm designing this thing with an emphasis on ground clearance for the roads around here so torque is important as well. Maybe a Buick straight 8, I've heard those are torque factories. e: 206 ft lbs stock, could probably get more out of it.
Don't know if any of you guys need big block Mopar heads, cheap ones are for sale here: http://lawrence.craigslist.org/pts/5178222410.html Not sure if they're performance or not, doubt it.
Don't mess with a flathead. OHV engines are so much easier to deal with. Flatheads are just barely driveable on a modern freeway. They burn up because the coolant passages are garbage, and there's not really a "head" more than it is a flat plate. If you're looking for an interesting engine to have, try and find a Chrysler 264 from Australia - it's a Hemi - 6 cylinder, or find an oldschool 4 cylinder turbo cummins.
Just get a Ford 300 or something, the 4.0L Jeep motor would be pretty good too. These can look as vintage as you make them look really, hanging a carb off the side of anything should do and both are pretty good runners which should get some decent fuel economy and power.
Thanks for the tips, never had one apart or driven one before, just always thought they looked and sounded cool, but I can't deal with having to rebuild/replace it all the time. I dunno if it'd be easy to find an Aussie motor here but I've thought about going diesel, it's just that diesel is expensive here and old diesels kinda freak me out with the runaways etc. The straight 6 fords look cool as hell though. I don't think I can fit a buick 8 in the 31 so a 6 is probably the next best thing. Gotta do some research. Main thing is I wanna break convention, I don't want just another rod. Lots of oddball vintage motors out there.
Guys, if any of you play GTA V on PC I just want to let you know that the modders finally cracked the code to replace in game vehicles. I'm so excited about this. Installed a couple of mods and went on an in game photo shoot :v: Unfortunately there aren't many japanese cars yet, but the first mods started coming out like a week ago, and there's coming new mods every day, so it's just a matter of time. The McLaren P1 mod is absolutely stunning. It looks so good. Here are my screenshots: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Dl8MCUZ.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/MQ3M6Yk.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Co5SsH9.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/5zdmgQu.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/u8JjYKC.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/y0l2RrR.png[/t]
Now for the flood of "realistic car overhauls" that replace every car with a slightly different Lamborghini.
ban soon
I only play singleplayer. Multiplayer never really caught my attention, so I just drive around in modded cars and take photos.
Now for the flood of "realistic car overhauls" that replace every car with a slightly different Lamborghini.
If possible I just try to replace the cars with their real life counterparts or similar. If not, I just create a new car slot. No lamborghinis and ferraris in the ghetto for me.

If anyone is looking for a unique car project a Triumph Stag with a Rover V8 swapped in.

Also in other news, it's confirmed. Went to the dr. office. Having a third. Figure it out.

I swear there isn't a single decent car on craigslist within my budget and within 50 miles. Except for that 1986 Saab 900. My logic is telling me not to buy it because I can't do a test drive or anything before I buy it since the guy is several hours away, but my heart is telling me to just do it because it looks like a wonderful car and it's in good shape.
Hello I just "Fixed" My motorcycle, I replaced the sparkplugs, and dumpped my tank. So, I went to florida came back and i got on my bike to start it and it started however it shut off almost instantly and would not restart. I had the feeling to believe there was water in the tank. I bought a hand-pumpped syhon took the gas out and sucked out clear stuff at the bottom of my tank, however it was foggy got it all out and tried to start it, THUS killing my battery, I charged it tried again only putting the "Glorious" product in my bike Sea-Foam and killed my battery in another attempt. I did not put the whole can in the bike and i used as close as I could get to half. So I changed the spark plugs, dumpped my tank, filled it, dumpped it (while i had it off for the plugs) and put everything back together. I turned my key 3 times, and went to starting my bike with regular gas, I might want to get some premium however its all I had available and used it before too, aaand never had a problem before. I got my bike started and revved it, it died eventuallty after just ideling and i turned it back on and it died again only made a sound after a second.. turned it back on and shut it off. I took it on a SHORT TEST RUN and it didnt die at first; however, as I got up my road further it died while trying to pull into food lion..... I am contiplating putting in fuel treatment, and I have some sea foam still in the can left over. (None in the gas thats in there.) Should I dump the tank put premium in it? [editline]28th August 2015[/editline] Fuel system cleaner rather Sound was like the engine whining down or some crazy stuff.
What kinda bike is it?? Carbed or fuel injection is going to make a big difference here.
if its carbed pull the carb off and clean it out.
