Find me Ewing IIIs
After flushing the oil, changing it, dropping the tank, adding new fuel and some liberal use of Starter Spray... SHE LIVES. THIS JUST HAPPENED; and I was pretty sure I was gonna scrap her.
It's been a while since I've posted but I've done a lot of work on the Slaab lately. I did new calipers all around, but also did a swap to the Saab 9000 brakes on the front. Much bigger, and stops on a dime now. Old Vs. I think it worked awesome. I'll post the pics from it soon. [editline]1st September 2015[/editline] Now that repairs are fully done on it besides some minor rust work, I can finally start on mods. New Springs shocks and wheels are coming in the spring, as well as a paint job possibly.

https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/5118385826.html thoughts? It's the 4 seater, which I don't like quite as much, but it isn't made of rust, riced out, or insanely overpriced, so there's that.

No pictures again today, to much bullshit and too much wasted time. I spent $40 on hoses, caps and a PCV valve. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-08-31%2014.34.59.jpg[/t] That image is $26 and all I got was at most $18 worth of junk I could have got from the dealership instead even. Turns out everyone who OBD1 converts a OBD0 Honda is a jackass and only like one person ever has ever cared enough to even mention that the return lines on EF/DA chassis cars are larger than the later cars. So I'm gonna have to find some sort of reducer barbed fitting to properly adapt the return line which I can't remove which is too short to be safe as well. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/DSCN7034.jpg[/t] I got everything together for the most part and was gonna fire it up and bleed the coolant but all I could smell was the smell of gas when I primed the system. Turns out that the fucking cheap ass fuel filter fucking cracked where the outlet flange is welded to the top from when I removed the fuel feed line.
please tell me about your 900 experience and whether I should buy one
It's an awesome, fun and unique car if you're willing to do a ton of rust work. There's no such thing as a rust free 900. Other than that they're decently easy to work on, besides the whole backwards engine thing. They do have a voltage leak that I have yet to track down on mine, so you if you do get one and have problems keep a jumper handy or install a kill switch like the previous owner of mine. All in all I would recommend getting one.

Found out my lesabre has a torque converter solenoid problem and random cylinder misfires. Fml

He showed at least 4 pictures with rust and a sideshot of the underside where the coating was still intact. Rust is such a PITA, and some of that rust looks bad enough that it isn't salvageable without body filler or welding some new metal in.
I'm looking at some different paints for the interior of the bus, and the one I'm looking at (zinnser perma-white acrylic) says you can use it with an airless sprayer and thin it up to 10%. I've got a normal air compressor powered paint gun I used to paint my truck, would that work?
Traffic around Dallas/Fort Worth where I work is so bad I will never drive a manual around there. Wouldn't mind having one for countryside romps though.
Doesn't look too bad for 215K miles on it. Other than the half-inch thick deposit of charred oil under the intake manifold.
Found out my lesabre has a torque converter solenoid problem and random cylinder misfires. Fml
TC solenoids are not.... that bad to get to wile the trans is still in the vehicle... The most you gotta do is remove the valve body... Just keep track of ANY PAINTED heads of the bolts as those are longer / shorter and have to go back in that EXACT spot.
Yeah, listen to DP. He's king of destroying them, so if anyone can tell you how to save or fix them, it's him. [editline]1st September 2015[/editline] (rip Audi)

He replaced the alternator and brakes along with some other stuff. 113k miles, 8V fuel injected non turbo.

Might be developing a like for camper vans. Are they tolerant of road and off-road weathering? Could one both sleep and store camping supplies in them to live a life on the road? Can one move from the driver's seat to the back without leaving the vehicle? How zombie-proof are they/can be made to be?
Any of you have experience cutting 1/8-3/16 steel plate and feel like doing a quick job? Doesn't have to be pretty, just need a hand removing some baffles from my cans. I'd do it with a cutting wheel but it's recessed 2 inches down and I can't get a good angle on it.
I thought campervans were cool, then I bought a bus tis a slippery slope

We had another friend driving behind with flashers and my sister driving ahead with flashers. We had a nice stranger jump start us at the gas station, then twice the negative terminal fell off the battery and killed it, so we jumped it again, and the two speed rear end is pretty shot. We grinded on it for a few minutes trying to hit high gear but in the end we gave up and drove there in low at 40mph. Once we pulled it in the shed we got the generator running, but only had one good spare battery, so we could only have it hooked up to the APU or 12v RV power at a time. After I got the spare battery and hooked it into 12v RV, I discovered the 12 RV power is linked to the 12 bus power, so in theory, if we get enough batteries to hook everything up, we can use the APU to charge both the RV power and bus battery, in addition the alternator should do the same. Im gonna get some deep cycle 6 volt golf cart batteries in series for the RV power. Didn't get around to testing the fridge, toilet, or 110v power, but the furnace, stove, oven, water heater, fresh water tank, water pump, sink, shower, and most of the lights worked right off the bat. The sink and shower puked out a bunch of rusty water, so Im going to treat it it and flush a few times before using it. We got most of it cleaned out, and the motor seems to be running better after its workout. The transmission leak may have fixed itself too. All in all, went better than I expected. EDIT Oh, and Serj, or anyone who knows anything about old 2 speed rear ends, are you supposed to hit the switch to preload it, then let off the throttle to shift it, or let off the throttle first and let it coast in?
[editline]1st September 2015[/editline]
Any of you have experience cutting 1/8-3/16 steel plate and feel like doing a quick job?
bus.
So long as you're prepared for the zombie uprising, who needs most of the functions of a vehicle? But still, would like to have answers to my questions from anybody.
