Same day delivery? Why not drive it home?
Is there a list of engines that respond well to boost? I know the Vortec series of GM engines love boost for some reason. Some Hondas and so on. Chrysler 340 and /6 seem to also. But what about engines that were never meant to be boosted, just work amazing with it?

The Mazda 323 GTX had a turbocharged B6... which is the same 1.6 found in the 89-93 Miata. Miata motors in general take to boost kindly as they're said to be 'overbuilt'
Okay guys, dead serious right here. I found this on craigslist and it looks like a good car. Autocheck is clean (doesn't tell much), it is practical for a teenager, price is good, honda reliability (?), mileage is low for an old honda. Is this a bad call? Insurance is CHEAPER than my 1993 honda accord (ACCORDing to geico quote, heh). I seriously think this could be the one. I have the chance to go look at it tomorrow. Should I even bother?
Legends are really really awesome cars, however ONLY if they are in good condition. The fuel mileage and power is also stupid good for a V6 from 1990 and makes domestic V6's of the 2000's cry still. There's one huge achilles heel or sorts though, the motor relies heavily on a properly functioning EGR valve so that it can push extremely lean like 18:1 or MORE under cruising. This means you can see high 20's fuel mileage on the highway but if the EGR passages clog up or stop working the motor is going to lean out extremely and toast the headgaskets on the rear cylinders which have a weaker design. http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulletin/f29/diy-intake-manifold-removal-egr-cleaning-79886/ http://www.acura-legend.com/vbulletin/f13/diy-egr-removal-pics-68912/ http://www.acuralegendwiki.org/index.php/G2:_DIY:_Miscellaneous:_Intake_Manifold_Removal_and_EGR_Cleaning As long as you clean the EGR out and the headgaskets are in good shape you'll be great. Tyson Hugie has a couple Legends and his 6 speed manual one has something silly like 600,000 miles. https://www.youtube.com/user/4cruizn/videos Holy shit wait, that's a manual!!!! Go buy it right now, they're pretty damn rare.
he has to take the plates back
Drive home with the title. If you get pulled over for no plates.. you have a signed title/ excuse for not having plates. That thing looks awesome.. 5spd trans is a nice addition.

Whoa.. look at the ones on sale on ebay right now. They're not manual, and they're significantly more money. That one looks like a gem..

I am going to look at it tomorrow with a friend. Any tips for what to check/try when looking at a used car. I don't think I'll be able to make the purchase right there on the spot but maybe within the next day or two.
Uhhh...that is definitely not the recommended way of doing it, especially since you won't have insurance on the vehicle
You are permitted a grace period by law, it just needs to qualify for inspection etc. Clutch failed to mention that you really should have a bill of sale on hand showing the date of purchase.
You are permitted a grace period by law, it just needs to qualify for inspection etc. Clutch failed to mention that you really should have a bill of sale on hand showing the date of purchase.
You still need tags during that "grade period", which you get by showing the MVA that you have insurance for the vehicle. They usually issue temporary plates at that time and give you 30 days to get it inspected and receive your permanent tags. You simply cannot legally drive a vehicle on public roads without a license plate.
Uhhh...that is definitely not the recommended way of doing it, especially since you won't have insurance on the vehicle
So call and add insurance. That's all I did with the NSX, called before I even left the parking lot where I bought it. That's the go to method in Wisconsin, anyways. There's 3 days to register/title/plate the vehicle after you sign the title and receive it. As long as you get that insurance on it you're set (at least in WI). Had a case where we got pulled over for no plates, and it was a simple matter of showing the signed title with current date.
So I found out my car was actually featured in the gallery of the website for the custom rims the previous owner put on it, pretty cool: [t]http://www.avantgardewheels.com/customers/Sort%20by%20Car/Hyundai/Veloster/M240/Hyundai%20Veloster%20(Black)%20-%20Gloss%20Silver%20M240/slides/IMG_1245.JPG[/t] All my paperwork is squared away and now I can finally sit back, relax, and be grateful I'm finally out of my Rabbit. On the flip side, every single time I wash the thing, there's a rain and dust storm the same night. I should drive this thing to California and get paid to summon a storm or something because this is like the 3rd time it's happened in the month or two that I've owned it.. [editline]5th September 2015[/editline] Oh yeah, I also started getting spam calls about extended warranties.. Not sure how companies even find out when someone buys a new car, but apparently they do because I got a call in the middle of class from some guy trying to sell me a warranty. With an extremely thick Spanish accent this dude said he's from "the warranty department", when I asked what company he just said "US Auto" which I don't think is even a real warranty company, then told me my "velesser" is out of warranty. When I told him it's still within the years/mileage he just hung up, cold. What?
All im doing is cleaning it up and fixing some tiny rust spots, maybe wheels and coilovers eventually but I just wanted a better daily. I paid $2k for it and it has just under 180k, dude showed me all the maintenance he did so it should last a while. [t]http://i.imgur.com/LRzH6kO.jpg[/t] interior aint perfect but its 100x better than the e36
That interior looks amazing  I really like two-toned black interiors where the interior is black but then there's like that white split in the middle of the doors and everything above that like the roof is white. Just feels really luxury to me.. When I graduate I want to get an old BMW as a project, there's somebody in my uni parking lot with an amazing candy red 90's M5, its just nuts.
BMW's always had it's interior down, very classy and not overwhelming with shapes. You can see how they age, though. That one's a good example. Near the ebrake/cupholders the 'soft touch' is wearing, there's a crack at the top of the center vents that they all have, leather that cracks and comes apart on the shift/seats/wheel from normal use, door vinyl that's shrunk and now pulled past the airbag in the door. Thin speaker grill that's turned to dust. Side mirrors coming 'delaminated' for lack of a better work. It's interesting because you'll see that exact pattern on most BMW 3 series, even the previous interior style. Roommate just bought a '98 318ti and it's wearing in the exact same way. Something with Germans and longevity of interiors, I swear.
Facepunch, should I get an 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue (130k) from a family friend or a 2004 Maxima manual (200k) from a local dealer? I really liked the Maxima when the dealer showed it to me, its just that I'm afraid of the possibility of something being wrong with it. Here's the link for the Maxima: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/windsor-area-on/2004-nissan-maxima-clean-6-speed-3300/1095650898?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

Od shy away from the gm.
I know this is basically corporate propaganda but the '36 Plymouth looks really tough.
While complaining about how impossible it is to find a rear wheel drive car in decent condition under 5k, I ran into this: So how fucked is the car? The exterior and interior seem to be great condition, the car only has 138k, and afaik only the FD engine required constant life support to function. Are there any common problems I should be looking out for?
Check for rust in the rear wheel wells where the suspension attaches that is the most common rust spot. That car is gs so it will have an open diff and drum brakes in the rear and most likely it wont have power steering. Also the mpg thing is true but only because i cant keep my foot out of it. The way the car is geared doesn't really help either 5th at 60 mph the car is at 3000 revs.

just cruising right, ooo big puddle must hit. no more alternator/power steering belt.
just cruising right, ooo big puddle must hit. no more alternator/power steering belt.
Did the belt snap or something? My old Ford would lose power steering and the alternator if I went through a big puddle, which required an engine restart to fix. My Toyota and every other vehicle with the 1MZ engine will immediately turn off their A/C when water so much as touches the compressor or the belt. It's also mounted on the very bottom of the engine or something, because driving through almost any kind of puddle will kill it. Luckily it's just a matter of waiting a few seconds and re-engaging the A/C, where it works like a charm.

Just got back from looking at the Legend. Everything looked nice, exterior was alright though. Power everything and it all worked. Couldn't quite get the clutch down as I have like 30 minutes of combined experience and haven't driven stick in weeks. I told the guy I am definitely interested but have to just sort some stuff out at home before I can commit to buying it. Hopefully it'll still be available by the time I get that done but I can't really be sure.

Ford KA/Bugatti Veyron mix up :v: It actually looks better than the Veyron IMO. It has that 90's sports car look!
