I backed halfway over a metal rack for shelves in my e30, not a scratch tho, and then I smashed my 206 into an engine sitting on a pallet infront of my car because my dad had used my car, and parked it in gear which I never do. And ever since then I use the clutch when starting my car.
I dont know about you guys but I've never put a scratch on my own vehicle, its always other people who wreck your ride. Not to take a knock at you timezbrick, just made me remember
I've never scratched any of my cars either.
Both my sister's boyfriend and my dad has crashed into the Beetle lol. No dents or scratches though.
The only thing I've ever hit in my car was our recycling box. I didn't see it I swear, wasn't in my mirrors

One time though I was sitting in my car and someone backed into it. There was no damage or even a mark so we laughed about it. And he was in fancy Audi so I think he was far more worried than I was
You've never driven in the winter until you've curbed your vehicle multiple times
Interesting. I remember when mtx woofers werw still $70 a piece. That would make the box only cost $10 at that price. Thats a good deal then.
I bought my first Sub/Enclosure combo for $130 on Amazon Prime. It was a great setup for my first (heavily budgeted) build. I bought those dual Rockford Fosgates, a cheap Lanzar amp, a Brand-X capacitor, and a DB Link 4 gauge wiring kit all for $240. It was a great little setup for my Z31.

I was the last person in our family to scratch / wreck their ride, and I feel quite shit about it too. Everything was going so well until today

Sweet Z31 2+2. Figures the hatch struts were blown,
85 or 84?
I scratched my car at work once. I finished loading rocks I had in the trunk into a lawnmower trailer and I took off, but rounded past the car too quick, so I skimmed some paint off the bumper with the trailer.
0/10 would do again :idiotcull:

This car sits a block away from where I'm living at school. It has been sitting in that same spot since the winter. It's a late 80s 560SL convertible, and the interior looks great aside from a tear in the seat and the usual dirt and grime. According to a lady who works in the building it's parked in front of, an older man owns it, and it doesn't run, but he still comes out to crank it every now and then. So I left him a note, I hope he gets back to me.
- Actually that note prolly wasn't a good idea. I did my homework on how much it would cost to fix what I saw with OE or genuine parts (sans jack tube rust repair).....and the results were nuts. :nope:

That's more than what I've paid in purchase, parts, and labor on my S-Class
The install time on these parts is over 80 hours, which is around $10000 in labor at a dealer or specialist shop.
There goes the dream of a cheap drop top hotrod
there is a new ding or scratch on my car every time I look at it, and none of it is me. kinda a lost cause around here everybody is retarded

Also installed a drainage pipe in front of the garage since all the water runs down there and there's about to be a hurricane maybe.
I buried it, and drilled holes on each side on top so water can run into it and away from the doors.
Really hoping we don't loose power again for 2 weeks. Im learning from my mistakes from sandy, gonna stock up on beer now.
when your dad wants to buy you a terrible compact because that's all that fits in your budget of $4000

4 grand can buy you a hell of a cool car
There's classic Hondas for days in the PNW, almost all "rust free" by the rest of the country's standards. Integras are always a good buy, 1st gens are a really underrated car if you can actually find a good one. They come with the awesome DOHC D series ZC which was an amazing motor for coming out in the mid-80's.
Preludes are usually in shitty shape or have issues and Accords aren't really as bad as you'd think as long as you get one that's pre-98 before they went to the shitty fat lazy american market version. Legends are quirky and are really good cars if you have a nice one and can do the EGR maintenance but cheap ones are scrap usually.
1st gen Mazda 6's are a pretty damn good buy if you're looking for something a little newer. If you're on a budget I'd always suggest to stray away from "unique" cars though unless you're intending to work on them and are determined to do so.
yeah none of my cars cost more than $2k
Spent the afternoon at the Miata Ranch installing my new exhaust

As long as you have the cash, know what to look for, and are willing to learn; classics are great investments.
Unlike most of todays automobiles, they have character, individuality, you don't blend in with the crowd.

'85, the hatch struts were actually fine until I installed louvers, the extra weight was a little too much for them. I bought the car for $1300 with 84k on it back in 2009. It was a good first car.

I dinged up my first car, a 800€ Nissan, few times. I have yet to scratch my Volvo.
I went and spent some money
What I got for the spent money was this:
[t]http://puu.sh/kvZlq.jpg[/t]
Twin single 34 carburettors for the Beetle
I got it for 2000 NOK and the guy paid 7500 NOK for them. He just test fitted them on his car and... idk forgot about them I guess

Holy balls those are the same carbs we tried to install on the dune buggy. We gave up and put a single Weber on it because we had to shorten one side of the linkage to get them synced, m and they constantly needed readjustment.
I've still got them, so if you get them to work well let me know.
The list is longer if you are in the right area. You could snag a really nice Chevy/Ford for 4k, just have to be prepared to do some preventative maintenance

I have plenty of people around me with loads of experience with Beetles so I don't think I'll struggle too bad :v:
Beetle twins never stay in tune
The Saab suddenly lost all its coolant in a tunnel on my way home today, all over the engine bay. Had to get a tow truck, now it's at a garage an hour away, waiting for them to open on Monday. Horrible timing too, I was supposed to leave for fall break tomorrow, guess that won't happen.
I asked Reddit if I should buy a 2014 RAM 1500 Express Regular Cab and sell my 2007 Charger Pursuit. They're all saying I shouldn't because I wouldn't be able to afford it. :v:
They're probably right though.
My car is worth $7K bought for $8K, the truck is about $19K. I had a 3 year loan on my car, for $220 a month. So with a 6 year loan, it'd be slightly more a month. I guess 6 year loans are bad, damn.
Something about depreciation and what not, but I'm thinking, I don't car how much the trucks worth, I just want something comfortable and reliable to drive.
Oh well!
So, how ya'll doing? It's like 60 degrees outside and after work I'm going to take apart my other cylinder head.
Beetle twins never stay in tune
When you buy quality parts for beetles it will work. And work good.
If you buy all empi shit.... Well. Your beetle is better off not running.
Alot of people love and hate empi. After I got burned on alot of their "high performance breaks" disk conversion, engine tins that never fit, roof rack that rusted out within 6 months, drop spindles that required their special wheel bearings instead of standard bearings...
The only thing I can ever see myself from empi ever again is replament oe styled hubcaps.
[editline]2nd October 2015[/editline]
And yes I had a superbeetle that I bought for super cheap then sold super cheap because I bough it with a blown motor, fixed it then sold it with a even blown motor than when I bought it.
3 cyclinders went kaboom
Beetle twins never stay in tune
I'm guessing you of all people on Facepunch have loads of experience with Beetles, right?
[editline]2nd October 2015[/editline]
I forgot to mention the carburetors are Solex. The same brand as all original carburetors on Beetles

Also, if he were to go for a CE6 Accord between 95-97 in the future he could easily swap in a J series engine that would mate right up to the MPZA tranny the car comes with. Not to mention the various swap-mod kits for the "more popular" 4 banger versions.
In the same respect, stay the total fuck away from any V6 Accord ranging from 98 to 2003, all those transmissions are garbage, under developed, badly constructed hunks of shit that self-destruct anywhere from 15k to 60k miles.
