I got my dream car a few weeks ago, and finally have a chance to post here. Its a '93 Corvette, 70k miles on it. Got a great deal for $8900. Runs and drives great! After two and a half years of keeping my 96 Camaro alive, all my hard work and long work days are paying off. I look forward to working on it in the future [t]http://i.imgur.com/VneZ84I.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Dntj0Lt.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/nttpugy.jpg[/t] Going to replace headlight gears with bronze ones (right headlight ratcheting a bit when opening/closing), and all the weatherstripping this weekend. Gotta wash and detail her too
Woah! That looks immaculate. Huge congrats! I freaking love those ZR-1 rims. There's nothing like picking a new car on a sunny day and just admiring it when you get home. It's the best feeling! Car looks stunning. More pics man!!
would there really be any issues with buying a car that previously had oil leaks? the owner of a car i was thinking about looking at (but ended up not because of the oil leaks) emailed me yesterday and asked if i'd buy the car if he fixed the oil leaks. car in question is a $3300 2005 volvo s40 t5.
Depends on where it leaked, for how long, how badly it leaked, and why.

I think she looks great as she is, gotta love them razor blades! Keeping everything looking as original as possible. I'll be sure to post more pics and some vids soon, I'll do so after I replace all the weatherstripping this weekend I plan on making a custom CNC machined key fob case out of Acrylic, since the original PKE Fob replacement has some really cheap plastic. Very nice Vette. One of few 90s cars worth drooling over :v:
Any opinions/things I should look out for when getting a '99/Pre-2000 Cherokee off on Craig's? Average where I live is around 3-4k and I figured it would be good to have for about 7 months. Is 3k putting in too much for such a temporary vehicle even if I intend to resell it? I'm expecting to travel long distances (across several states) and the extra space would be good for packing and moving. I've been eyeballing this ad and it seems pretty promising.
Don't think these had head gasket issues but double check me on that. I thought they started the following year in the EJ25 motor
The Impreza's never had the EJ25D motor that had headgasket issues. The EJ251/253 had minor ones, though wasn't used until 2002 in the Impreza. The 25D was used as early as '96 in the Legacy Outback.
I'm so happy now. Ever since I started my little Supra project, the top priority has been to get the facelifted headlights for LHD driving (the car is RHD). Those fuckers are expensive as golden shit though, a pair costs $2200 from Toyota, and I don't have that kind of money. So lately I've been searching Supra communities on forums and Facebook, eBay, and other places that might have them for sale, and everywhere I looked, they've been almost impossible to find in LHD versions. Then yesterday, an ad came up on a Danish car site. The ad had no photos and the text was like "supra lhd facelift lights for sale for $980, 3 months old" and that's about it. So I called up the guy and he sent me a pic and holy shit it was actually mint conditioned LHD facelift supra lights!!!!! Turned out the seller was sketchy as fuck so I've been on an emotional rollercoaster the last 24 hours (because I need those lights in my life, you know how it is) but after a lot of uncertainty, I actually fucking got them, for less than half the price of new ones. And they're in absolutely perfect condition!! Can't wait to fit them on the car. The left one is obviously the facelift one. Mine has the one on the right as of now.

OK guys, I've seemed to have narrowed down to two choices. 133,000 mile 1999 Volvo V70 or 150,000 mile 2002 Subaru Impreza Both are dealer cars, and no rust to be seen.

You will need them in the unfortunate event you have to work on it.
Or just pumice soap like a man.
I used about a gallon of fast orange after working on my buddy's brakes yesterday. we went for the ultimate in kludge fixes just so he could get home, the piston was seized so I removed the pads and the piston. the rotor was so badly grooved it's not like those brakes did anything anyway, he had eaten about an eighth inch of metal off the pads. not pad material, but metal. I figure that brake wasn't stopping him anyway
Or just pumice soap like a man.
The only thing I have actually found that works great is purple power. But it removes the oil from your hands and makes you have old man hands. Also fingernails. And around the fingernail.
Why must Carfax be so expensive
Why must Carfax be so expensive
VINbro on /o/.
Well, been a while since I've been on, so I figured I might give a quick update guys. My work truck's been down all week due to my driver-side front tire being worn to the cord unevenly from the passenger. Mechanic replaced the swaybar bushing on it and we're getting it realigned next week too. But supposedly it's been a known long-term issue with my truck. Just hit 210k on it Monday and only 30k on those tires. I finally figured out why I keep burning through fog lamps on my Charger; the lens is cracked at the very top. Found that out during the three solid weeks of rain we had when it was completely filled with water and wouldn't drain down. Also need a swaybar bushing for it and an alignment, too. And I'm going Saturday to Moneta to look at a project Miata that's been for sale for forever that I think I've told you guys about. Going to see what is wrong with it and why he hasn't sold it in three years and offer super low for it just to haul it away if the frame and chasis aren't complete rubbish.
VINbro on /o/.
How do I contact him
OK guys, I've seemed to have narrowed down to two choices. 133,000 mile 1999 Volvo V70 or 150,000 mile 2002 Subaru Impreza Both are dealer cars, and no rust to be seen.
Both are awesome cars, you can't go wrong going in either direction here. The Volvo's lower mileage is negated by it's older age so as long as they are in the same condition it's apples to apples. The Volvo does have more room though. Anyway, what are the implications of buying a car from an auction when it has a bonded title? I can't seem to find a straight answer aside from it's the same thing as an abandoned title. And yes I'm stupid, but at least this pile is overall better than the ratty SL I was looking at...
How do I contact him
https://boards.4chan.org/o/thread/13589371 That's the current thread. Just post what VINs you want checked, and he'll post an image of your report. Very helpful dude.
Hopefully some people in here can help me with bikes. I'm looking to finally get my class m permit/license so I'm in need of a starter bike. Unfortunately im only 5'5" so finding a used one I can handle is tough. I also don't know shit about motorcycles although I'm fairly mechanically inclined. I found a 89 kawasaki ninja 600 with 120k miles for 1100. Would this be a decent deal? What questions should i be asking about it?
I wouldn't call a 600 a starter bike. try to find something more like a 300-400cc. also bikes are basket cases when they're new. if that bike really has 120k on it and that wasn't a typo then it's going to be every kind of fucked imaginable. even 12k is on the high side of what I would buy for a sport bike
It might be 12k, the picture is kinda blurry. I realize a 600 isnt an ideal starter bike, but trying to find anything less than 500cc is damn near impossible.
that's a relatively modern aftermarket speedo, 12k is going to be much lower than actual mileage. stay away.
Been riding this the last few days.

looks like an ls400
The resident dick (young know it all type drives a riced out EM1 civic) at my work was having car trouble. So I decided to be good guy greg and help out so he didn't have to get it towed. Took literally 2 minutes to figure out the alternator was toast asked him if he wanted me to change it for him pulled my truck over to him going "are you sure that piece of shit can make it over here" I get that my truck isn't gonna win any beauty contests but she's got it where it counts and you don't insult a mans truck and shortly after got "Man are you sure you can work on it it's got mods!" I've seen built B16s I've worked on built B16s a built B16 this thing was not. So with my response being "I've worked on cars with engines with more horsepower in one cylinder worth more than this car" that shut him up had the damn thing pulled in 20 minutes and a 80$ with discounts alternator in inside of an hour including driving him to advance. I must admit pinning the throttle and pinning him to the seat in my "piece of shit" truck was fun
