You're a bigger man than I am then. I would've just rolled with it.
Done! Now a question, is there anyone who knows a fair share about radio's? What I want is to be able to communicate through my helmet (which has audio+mic) to my friends in the pits. I have a pair of tti TX-446's in good condition. Would I be able to use these? What stuff would I need? I figured if I could use these I'd still need a better antenna or an amplifier for it.

i'll be able to get my permit in a year and i've just been informed by my sister that my grandfather sold the saab i've been wanting to own and drive since i was 7 for scrap metal to some shitty place so he could give my lazy sack of shit aunt who just had a fourth child at 43 years old the money since she doesn't want to get a job [t]http://i.imgur.com/hSHKJJW.png[/t] i'll miss you :^(
well, the Audi B2 died in the middle of a parking lot. the fuel pump was FUBAR turns out the dealer from whom I bought the car installed a new (?) fuel pump which was way too small, had the wiring chopped up to jury rig the fit, and made a loud whining noise whenever the car was on. $475 later, the whining is gone and the car runs pretty smoothly left is the pump the dealer installed, right is the new one now the asshole wants me to give him the old broken fuel pump back lmao
I'd chew that dealer out

Let me tell you a little story. 4 months ago I bought a Nissan Sunny Coupe, I posted a picture in this thread. The car is really great. Pretty rare and in a good condition. Fast forward to last week, I finally got word for a new apartment, good news! The bad news is, I now have to drive 100 kilometers a day to get to work. The Sunny Coupe is a great car, but not really fuel efficient. So I start looking for people who might be interested in buying the car. The first guy I talk to was a fellow Nissan enthusiast. We started talking about my car and he was interested. I gave him some basic information about the car and mentioned that I was selling it because of mileage. He then told me that he had a mint condition Nissan Micra k10 1.0 from 1986, and he suggested a trade. He send me some pictures and damn, the car was in a really good condition. Only has ran 98k kilometers in 29 years and I'm the sixth owner. I didn't have to think about it, today I drove 200 kilometers back and forth and now am the proud owner of a red Nissan Micra K10! went for a ride in an e46 m3, got behind the wheel and got to give it the beans to the redline in first this experience further cemented my love for the e46 m3

(Where the US version was just a bigger 328i, aka boring)
Why are you wetsanding it?
its a regular single stage paint, I was gonna wet sand it with 2000g to smooth out a little orange peel then compound polish and wax. Im not a bodywork guy like you so im open to better ideas, but its worked out fine in the past.
K10's are glorious little cars, owned 2 early 90's ones and they never let me down other than the passenger footwell filling with water after heavy rain :v: Look after it and it'll go on forever, tough little critters they be!
Taught my friend a bit about her car tonight, a nice turbo diesel Merc W124, auto ofc. Green exterior, tan leather interior, real nice. Bonnet release was broken, the plastic bit holding the wire had broken, so she hadn't been able to pop it to refill her washer fluid. Got that open, found a bad contact in one of the parking lights. Her glow system is dicked too, the light stays on after starting the engine. Also taught her how to turn on the fog lights, adjust her seat, the winter/summer modes on the transmission, taught her about dimming the interior mirror, and how to turn on her Automatic Climate control. It's kinda scary how little people know about their cars, even with proper training. (she's a straight B student too)
Why the hell is there a summer/winter mode for the transmission?
Because we get snow in the winter, which tends to be slippery, so the winter mode starts you off in second gear, to make starting smoother and minimize wheel slippage in slippery conditions.
Why the hell is there a summer/winter mode for the transmission?
I see Gulen explained it already, but wanted to expand; Quite a few automatics have it, but either don't advertise it, or call it something else. The '66 Ford Galaxie we had advertised it that way. My Impreza has it, though you have to manually shift it.
Apparently it's winter/standard mode, not winter/summer, but whatevs. If you have to manual shift it, isn't it just 2nd gear?
So I just did some more digging and the further RSX I mentioned before has been for sale at this place for about 8 months. It seems like a great deal, the mileage is low, the carfax is 100% clean, the pictures show it in prestine condition, so I can't imagine why it wouldn't sell for 8 months, especially with all the other listed RSXs, some being much worse deals, dropping like flies. Any ideas of what could prevent a purchase but not show up in carfax or pictures? Im sure I'll be going to look at it next weekend but if I can realize something ahead of time it would save me a bunch of time. I've been looking at RSXs for almost a year, and this car has been on cars.com ever since my first search, and I know it's still in stock as I recently contacted the dealership.
"pretty low miles for a civic this old" "i know what i got" http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/5260309336.html
Unfortunately CRX's are easily worth that much, especially Si's. I tried looking for pre-2000 Civics in California once and it was disgustingly hard. Also because it's a BAR'd Z6 swap, I'd think it's remotely around the right price. The mileage however is stupid for the price but there's tons of EF's around with 400-600k happily going down the road still because the owners realize that they're literally the cheapest, most reliable commuter car you can possibly buy with the best fuel economy of any available used car. If you wanna get really into it, global prices on these cars are pretty insane. If you want a non-carb'd, non-base model CRX you're basically looking at somewhere between 6-10k. If you want an SiR you're looking at ballpark 10k for days. Our used cars are completely shit when compared to these but when you factor in what the price is based against these cars are only going up and up from here if you want a nice one. EF's are now classics, CRX's are beginning to be snapped up by collectors and in 10 years when the JDM source of CRX's is sucked bone dry they will double or triple in value for good ones as the generation which once had them as kids reaches the point which they want to buy the car they grew up with. If anyone really wants a Civic or Integra from this era or ever wants to own one, I'd really suggest to start looking now because the market is pretty much gone and even many of the enthusiasts have moved on now.

One of these days I'll get this trans in the car. Just waiting on bellhousing machining and GKTech to release their shifter.
Damnit. There's one bolt left before it's time to reassemble the Talon. The main crank bolt, which I need to get off so I can remove the timing sprocket, so I can remove the front main seal... which isn't even leaking, buuuuuuut I feel like I "just should" since I'm already that far in. However my air impact and my 18v Snap On impact aren't budging it. The only other option I'm seeing is to put the breaker bar on it and bump the starter... but I forsee destroying my breaker bar, or face, or something in the process. I'm this close to saying "who gives a shit" and not replacing the front main.. since it's not leaking. If I neglect it, it will probably start leaking next month :suicide:
Isn't you breaker bar under warranty though? I say break it, and take it back.
So I got to drive a 2011 BMW 328i today because my coworkers got shitfaced at a job. Rides extremely well, very smooth and quiet. The controls are slightly poorly laid out and I couldn't figure out the cruise control while driving, but I'm sure once you get used to it it's fine. The oddest thing was the key fob goes into this little docking station and you have to put it in there before you can start the car. Doesn't that defeat the point of the 'keyless push to start button' since you have to insert a key first? Other than that I was actually surprised how little power it felt like it had. It was perfectly usable but while passing Granny Prius in the left lane I found myself pushing the pedal harder only to find it was already to the floor. However the acceleration was fast enough, it just never pinned you to the seat nor made any fuss about it. I actually quite liked it. However, I don't think I'd own a modern BMW, I don't like any car I can't fix basic problems with in my driveway with the tools I have at hand and a trip to Pep Boys. [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] Oh also because of how steeply raked the windshield is the sunroof is behind the driver's head (unless you're extremely tall), which defeats the purpose in my mind, but I think that's all modern aerodynamic cars, not just the BMW.

Is it bad that I'm at that point where I want my tranny to die so I can take my Charger to my mechanic and ask him to help me shove a 6speed manual in it?

I just need a reason to pull a 5-speed from pickapart and bring it to my mechanic. Every day this auto lives and doesn't explode is half miracle/half curse.

It's still smooth, it doesn't seem to want to slip at all, I've never had any shifting issues from Park to any gear and vice-versa. I just want to rip the bastard out and put a manual in and be one of five Chargers with a 6-speed, and probably the only 6-speed Charger with AWD. :saddowns: [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] Unrelated: Fuck yeah, they brought saddowns back!
