Again, me being very new to cars I have a bit of a new question: If I get this, will it fix the bouncing problem on my, and raise the cut suspension? http://www.am-autoparts.com/Honda/Civic/shocks-and-struts/AM-938342659/681164-2002.html?gclid=CNK4qpiir8gCFQyPHwodlcYEpA
Yes, as long as your tires aren't pepboys brand
I think the diff in the Miata is on it's way out. Time to find a replacement. I would really like to go 1.8 Torsen swap but I can't afford to drop $850+ :(
Buy a VLSD! Less performance for less money!
So I got to drive a 2011 BMW 328i today because my coworkers got shitfaced at a job. Rides extremely well, very smooth and quiet. The controls are slightly poorly laid out and I couldn't figure out the cruise control while driving, but I'm sure once you get used to it it's fine. The oddest thing was the key fob goes into this little docking station and you have to put it in there before you can start the car. Doesn't that defeat the point of the 'keyless push to start button' since you have to insert a key first? Other than that I was actually surprised how little power it felt like it had. It was perfectly usable but while passing Granny Prius in the left lane I found myself pushing the pedal harder only to find it was already to the floor. However the acceleration was fast enough, it just never pinned you to the seat nor made any fuss about it. I actually quite liked it. However, I don't think I'd own a modern BMW, I don't like any car I can't fix basic problems with in my driveway with the tools I have at hand and a trip to Pep Boys. [editline]11th October 2015[/editline] .
Having worked at a BMW dealership, those 328s with the 3 liter straight sixes feel much slower than the new turbo 4 cylinder 328s. First time I drove one of the new 328s I thought I was in a 335 by how it accelerated. The newer X3s haul ass too, much more than you'd expect.
Actually who really knows how much better the Torsen really is and how much is hype. If it's an open that's going out now, at least go to VLSD instead of another open (unless you're an NB man)
-I was complaining about auto merge and then it straight up failed to work-

The extra $600 might be worth the insurance and it might be a little extra fun. I got a quote on a VLSD and it would be like $330 while a 4.1 Torsen with driveshaft and axles would be $930 after shipping. I can get a stock open 1.6 diff for $275 shipped. I also need to change my clutch and I'm looking at getting a new top since my old one has a faded back window that I can't see out of.
Yes, as long as your tires aren't pepboys brand
Now putting those on, is it something I could do myself or would I need a mechanic?
You can do it yourself, there's loads of videos on YouTube on how to do it.
You can do it yourself, there's loads of videos on YouTube on how to do it.
If theres not a youtube video on it, it probably cant be done.

Also, and this is for BMW's and Mercedes, why do the model names no longer reflect engine displacement? E.G. the 328 having a 3 liter engine and the S63 having a 5.5 liter engine.
eeuuugh. I just saw another riced out car, lowered, cambered wheels with paper thin tires, giant fartcan hanging off the rear bumper. The most horrible part was, it was a 1st gen explorer. Someone hold me I think I might cry

Why else would BMW still keep adding the "i" badge to all their vehicles despite every vehicle sold in the last two decades being fuel injected? Could also be that they don't want people to think that the newer cars with a smaller number (and smaller displacement) are slower than the previous generations with higher numbers.
If theres not a youtube video on it, it probably cant be done.
A famous stupid quote: "Everything that has been invented has already been invented." - same concept as what you said.

If Richard is buying a new S Class, he wants mo' betta and bigger numbers mean mo' betta of course. It's all really about the marketing.
today I got asked how I notice other driver's behavior and items in their vehicle while passing them. "When you drive around for 10+ hours a shift, you pick up on things"
Got it installed. Somehow my check airbag system light is on now, though. Have to have someone look at it again tomorrow. Anyone see anything like this in newer Civic/Civic Si models? Install aftermarket radio and have systems saying "check me" even though they're clearly fine?
So, this was a pinched wire when running power wires to the amp, that they had to solder to fix. All's well.

But it being an Explorer just makes it even better.
Starting to regret buying a Jensen stereo. While I have no sub until tomorrow and my factory speakers sound amazing now, the maps are wonky for my 50 year old neighborhood, (thinks my house is 1/4 mile away and thinks streets exist when they don't) and I have to pay like $70 to update them. Outside of my neighborhood it seems fine, though.
I can understand everything but the cambered wheels, I just don't see how that is safe. But it being an Explorer just makes it even better.
Camber does almost nothing in relation to handling or unsafe qualities. With some mild camber you'll find that you have better traction in corners. Camber can also be used to tune many handling characteristics along side a good alignment. You're thinking of compromised suspension geometry resulting in extreme amounts of bumpsteer. Stretched tires on excessively wide wheels to the point that holding a bead is a struggle is also rather unsafe. Camber and ride height don't affect the safety of the vehicle but rather are characteristics of badly designed and poorly modified suspension. In fact, I'd never use navigation that isn't Google Maps so that rules out every single "modern" in car navigation :v:
One of the neighbors knocked on my door after I got off work, and asked in Spanish if I knew how to install a spoiler on a car. Of course I do. He didn't have the templates, but he had an OEM spoiler for his 2000 Accord. No problem. Had everything laid out, measured, referenced some pictures to see where it was supposed to be positioned, and got it done in about 30 minutes. He was happy, and gave me $20.00. This is the strangest request I've ever gotten, but I've done several stereos, wiring, brakes, etc for the neighbors. I accept whatever they want to pay. Some of it is excessive - ya know I got $200 to install a subwoofer one time, $100 to do a starter - neither took more than an hour and I always try to give some of the money back, but they insist I keep it all. Aint gonna complain. Also, Bananalord. Text me. I forgot what your real name is so i can't find you in contacts.
today I got asked how I notice other driver's behavior and items in their vehicle while passing them. Turned on my baofang and I can hit the local repeater with it... Made sure with someone else on the receiving freq. Now I just have to get my technician certification.... I'm acculy rather sad at it. I wanted to use it for 120mhz airplane stuff.....

I drive for 3 to 5 hours a day and laugh at all the idiots slamming on their brakes in front of a parked trooper watching the interstate with their lights on already waiting for them. It's amazing the things people will do and then try to say they never did in front of them.

It means that the newest best thing on the market would be perfect for you!.. Android Auto, behold. It runs specifically on Google maps, exactly how your phone does, because it uses your phone's connection to do everything! That means no more out of date maps, you get current traffic, construction, all that ish. That means you can get it on the Pioneer NEX 4100, the Kenwoof 9702s, etc. Any car you can fit a DDIN in you can get Google Maps navigation in!
I just discovered how easy it would be to put up rgb led strips in the bus that flash colors in beat with the music. And then I went to amazon. This is gonna be fukken schweet.
So Acura has a new car coming out, the 2016 RSX saloon. Here's early pictures;

It's the new Chevy Volt, lol. But it's just another step toward all cars looking the same, IMO.

Need to try and get diagnostic software for my Golf in order to fix this alarm issue. Cheap eBay cables do work, but as of yet I am failing. I don't suppose anybody has used a third party cable to get diagnostic software working for Volkswagen/Audi etc?
