The skies were threatening rain today so I bought new Bosh wipers and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the old ones off.
[QUOTE=Trekintosh;48920526]The skies were threatening rain today so I bought new Bosh wipers and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the old ones off.[/QUOTE] Funny enough, I had trouble with my last ones too. Thought I needed tools and shit. Turns out I just had to lift a sort of plastic lever on the old blade and they unlock and slide off.
Yeah that's what every tutorial says but these blades don't have the lever.
pic?
[QUOTE=FordLord;48919415]Detroit winter mode [T]http://i.imgur.com/324mn5Y.jpg[/t] If the blanket blocks enough air to get it to operating temp, it'll be replaced. By what? Not sure. Was thinking a piece of sheet metal I could bolt on and off, or if I can find one of those poly signs in the right size, i'd have one printed out and use that as a cover. Brush guard is also new since last update.[/QUOTE] I've mostly just seen people zip tie a piece of sheet steel or choroplast right to the radiator behind the grill.
Goddamnit. My roommate's 318ti has a HVAC temp control cable where the mounting tabs on it are broken so it doesn't work. Wasted time removing the cable, now the damn cable doesn't even exist on the internet. Ugh. I hope the BMW dealership can find it. Sucks to be him it's probably like $40. Sucks even more to be him the whole dash is puked out, radio out, HVAC out, glovebox out.. he gets to drive like that until I get the cable. Not doing that job twice.
[QUOTE=Serj22;48921427]I've mostly just seen people zip tie a piece of sheet steel or choroplast right to the radiator behind the grill.[/QUOTE] That was my first thought, but it's not feasable. Doing so in front of the rad involves removing a plastic cover with ~8 bolts. NC weather changes from 38F one night, to 75F the next day, so it needs to be simple to remove. I drove it tonight in 50F, then 38F temps. In both cases, the truck couldn't keep hot. At 65, it'd stay hot. As I slowed and RPM's dropped, my temps would drop. I'm thinking cloroplast or sheetmetal, in front of the grill itself, with just a few mounting brackets.
its only put inside the grill because it looks cleaner that way. stick it on the outside and it brings you to op temp quicker and improves aero

I have a 195*F thermostat in her but constantly runs in the 140-160 range. Unless towing then she will come on up. And I have the best of the best racing thermostat in her too... Ha! These trucks are like a fucking brick wall slicing threw a cake that's been set out for two weeks and stail. Don't go past 75, your mpgs go into the single digits. :_:
Sup, some of you may remember that I've posted in this thread earlier asking for advice in regards of getting a new car. Well now I've narrowed down my choices: Its either a Civic EX 2008 or an Accord EX 2008. Now the choice may seem obvious (Accord is overall the better car), but the problem is, I don't feel 100% sure about going for the Accord. To start off, money isn't really a big factor into this, since here where I live, these two vehicles (for some strange reason) are going more or less for around the same price. What worries me is that I'm not sure if the Accord is the best fit for me. I'm a college student, I'll be moving out of the country in 6 years probably, I know how easy it is to get rid of a Civic, and how good it maintains it's worth. Does the same apply to the Accord? Also since I'm a college student, fuel economy is a pretty significant thing, and the Civic it's amazing at it (albeit not really that different from the Accord from what I've read, or am I wrong?). Not to mention that the Civic is easier to park and generally better for city use (which is where I'll do 90% of the driving). Now you may tell me to go for the Civic, but thing is, I really LOVE how the Accord looks and how it feels, I really value the look and comfort of the interior of a car, and the Accord blows the Civic out of the water in that aspect. I don't hate how the Civic looks, but it just feels too plastic for my taste. What should I do?

WELP, proud owner of a 2007 Honda Fit Sport. I'll have her 7-8 months before I have to sell it back sadly. $7.5k Nimble little bastard! I really enjoy it.
Any of you have experience with wrapping a vehicle? I'm thinking of doing my silver dodge in brushed stainless wrap, that'll save me the body work to paint it so all I gotta do is paint match the gaps.
So after 5 hours driving yesterday across state lines and back, I now have a new car. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5027205/mecar.jpg[/t] 2004 Volvo V70 2.5T. And oh what a lovely car it is. The turbo really makes the car, and I still get better gas mileage then I did with my Taurus. I really wanted to get it cleaned up this weekend, but Ohio weather has finally decided to go batshit for the year, it;s been raining with a mix of snow every so often, and I have no garage. But still, the only horrible thing is that the plastic trim is REALLY faded. ANy good products on the market to make em nice and black again?
I may have filled the Subaru up for the last time today. Feels a little weird. [editline]17th October 2015[/editline] If things go as I want them to, my ass will be seated in this within the next week: [img]http://puu.sh/kNQjR.jpg[/img]

It's supposed to have a 195, local places mostly carry 160 and 180s. At 75, I still manage about 16 :v: Drop down to 65 and im back up to 20-21mpg

Mirrors, etc.. no game. That being said I was using some thick chrome vinyl.. single color would be easier. However stainless is probably about as thick as chrome vinyl. Either way, you'll need to the good stuff with 'air release' pattered adhesive on the back. And get a really good heatgun or propane torch. From my experience the propane torch works best, but then again I don't have a heatgun up to the task of thick vinyls like Chrome, etc.

What should I do?[/QUOTE] The Accords of that year are the pigfat US model Accords which we got from like 98-2013, if you're looking for something like the Accord but not so big the Acura TSX is exactly what you want as it IS the real Honda Accord. K series motors which are the 2.0 and larger 4 cylinder motors from post 2002 or so do get decent gas mileage but the R18 out of the non Civic Si 8th gens is going to be far better. Neither vehicle will devalue faster at this point, the sole factor in the value going forward will be the shape of which the car is in. Both cars are fairly large as well so when it comes to city use it really doesn't matter which way you go. It's really depends on what you want in a car on which you choose.
[QUOTE=Trekintosh;48913395]Oh that's cool can you take pictures?[/QUOTE] Yeah ill get some when im there next. The best part about it is the motor is designed to run for a long time. It powers a giant fan to dry corn in 4 grain bins. Its been running for about 2 weeks now.

Also brushed vinyl is more wasteful as it only goes in one direction and is a little easier to fuck up. It can't get crooked at all. Usually it's about $450 to wrap a car in one color.
So nearly got my Shopping list for my Chrysler sorted out now know what I need in terms of 440 source seems to have most of what I need. Stealth heads from 440 source Factory Replacement Rods from 440 source Platinum Series Pistons from 440 source Street Distributor from 440 Source (Its 78$ if it works like it should im not gonna argue) keeping factory rocker arms Mopar "purple shaft" Cam new set of lifters and pushrods of course Edelbrock Performer RPM intake Set of Headers new water and oilpump and pressure sensor New Coil and plugwires New bearings and ARP studs anywhere I can gaskets obviously Thinking of going to the scrapyard with a sawsall to get a muffler and resonator Cant think of much reason not too just gotta figure out what to take it off of. [editline]17th October 2015[/editline] Still need a new carb the one on it is crap and I will probably be better off buying a rebuilt and trading it towards some of that cost, there is a guy near me who rebuilds em and sells em pretty cheap. Also looked at superchargers out of curiosity and the price point kind of made me shy away from that choice, that and well what I would have to do to the engine maybe If I got a smaller 2 door with a 360 or 318 ide consider that setup but thats a few years away.
i recommend you not pursue any of this project till you can pull that carb off and rebuild it. It's $45.00 and an hour of your time. If you can't do that, then the rest of it is rocket science.

[editline]17th October 2015[/editline] I have rebuilt a handful of GM smallblocks, half a Ford,3/4s of Volkswagen,1/4 of Nissan. First time having to figure out parts and what I need on my own and basically do it all myself though.
Here's what I've been fucking around with today: [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/kOvJP.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/kOvI3.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/kOvIC.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/kOvHn.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://puu.sh/kOvGj.jpg[/img_thumb] One thing I'm really glad for is that there were no nasty surprises as in rust holes and shit. Also I might need a new clutch.
Why don't thumb tags work anymore?
[QUOTE=Ldesu;48929570]Why don't thumb tags work anymore?[/QUOTE] It's back to being [noparse][img_thumb][/img_thumb][/noparse]
What a stupid change... again [editline]18th October 2015[/editline] Apparently not. I've tried t, thumb and img_thumb now but they're still huge.
