Well I guess I can't hate a song about Loadin' Coal
Need to find more songs about Loadin' Coal. :smugdog:
i've never understood why all these rapemetal guys (disgorge and whatever crap they call themselves) name their songs like Abhorrent Desecration of Thee Iniquity, Crevice Flux Warts, Fermented Anal Nectar etc
what the hell...

same thing with black metal and corpse paint and axes and shit
I have never once enjoyed an extreme metal song.
It's too heavy.
And now because I said that everyone is going to collectively rip me a new arse.

there was a proper reason behind it in the black metal scene... Can't really remember it that well though :v:
But the goregrind stuff is just for the lols.

Vedicardi iirc you went on about this once? Care to educate us? :v:
i feel bad for you, you're missing out on so much
I know. I just don't like it. I want to like it, but it just doesn't ring with me. :smith:
Oh well, back to filling my library with Prog Rock.
i feel bad for you, you're missing out on so much
I personally don't find much depth in the genre. But I love thrash to death.
If he said "Drone Doom" then a lot would be missed. :smugdog:

"extreme metal" covers a huge amount of genres, basically everything with screaming vocals or blastbeats and things like that, and there are so many different amazing bands that would fit the "extreme metal" tag

just a few examples
Screaming vocals and blastbeats are genres?
Doesn't make them accustomed to the genre. :v:
Screaming vocals and blastbeats are genres?
that's not what i said, read it again
genres that include things like screamed vocals and blastbeats are genres that fit in the extreme metal description
Should've called them styles.
Major confusion. :psyduck:
Should've called them styles.

it's not that hard to understand
extreme metal isn't a genre, it's an umbrella term for many different genres
Huh? Extreme metal is a genre. It contains many styles but is distinctive.
I personally don't find much depth in the genre. But I love thrash to death.
If he said "Drone Doom" then a lot would be missed. :smugdog:
...I can't say I like any forms of drone either. :frown:
Huh? Extreme metal is a genre. It contains many styles but is distinctive.
no
Huh? Extreme metal is a genre. It contains many styles but is distinctive.
I'm pretty sure it's an umbrella term for thrash, death, black, etc. Can you give an example of extreme metal as a genre?
...I can't say I like any forms of drone either. :frown:
It's tough to get into.
But once you feel it, just like prog, you get a big boost.
I never bothered to learn the Ukelele well.

Bit's of Black Sabbath made it defineable.
They kind of started everything in metal probably.
Huh? Extreme metal is a genre. It contains many styles but is distinctive.
Nope, pretty certain extreme metal isn't a genre. It's an umbrella term referring to any form of heavy metal that uses large amounts of distortion, more violent drums, and/or any form of harsh vocals.
If you look on Wikipedia's article for Strapping Young Lad, you'll see "extreme metal" in the genre tags. In fact, it used to be the only genre tag. This is mostly because bands like SYL are difficult to categorize. I mean honestly, what would you guys call SYL, other than the blanket "extreme metal"? The closest I can think of would maybe be progressive metal. Maybe.
It's tough to get into.

Ironically, the only form of drone I can get into is drone I compose myself. :v:
Drone Doom bathes you in slugs. :smug:
I never really got into most genres of metal.

Nor folk music.
Huh? Extreme metal is a genre. It contains many styles but is distinctive.
Extreme metal is an umbrella term for death metal, black metal, and grindcore. (and all the subgenres and stuff)
Been to a record store
Listened to a full classical piece/track/whatever you call classical stuff.
