I'm short so I can't run fast.
short people during track last year outran me every time and i'm 6'1
I'm short so I can't run fast.
That shouldn't stop you :buddy: I remember there was a guy at city finals for Track that got first in the 1 mile with a 4:40/4:30-something. He was like, 5'3".
Oh god shin splints. They totally fucked me over the last half marathon I did.
The idea of a marathon makes me cringe.. too much, man. Any advice on shin splints?
;20526046']The idea of a marathon makes me cringe.. too much, man. Any advice on shin splints?
Well what I did first was lay off running for a bit. You're really (or so I'm told) supposed to STOP running, but I've always hated that. Then did some of the strengthening exercises I found here. I also kinda reworked the way I landed on my foot and stepped. Before, I ran too much either on my heel or sides of me feet (don't know how I ran like that <.<) and I sort of stomped when I ran.
Screw running, REAL MEN GO HIKING! I love the tree farming company that is acrossed the street from my house, it may be trespassing but they make some really good trails.

I tried running in them (we're the same size) and it felt like Jesus just came in my mouth . . . or feet. Already have my track shoes, though.
My record for a mile is 6:42. Could be better. I'm just running to stay in shape.
Maniac Magee
I fucking love that book. :v:
I not only run for fun, but I also am on my college's track team.
I run every day and lift weights every other day
My record for a mile is 6:42. Could be better. I'm just running to stay in shape.
Considering your aim is just to be in shape, that's pr'good. Most people I know who have the same aim only run 9:00 miles at most. But they're still in shape, and that's all that matters <3
I'm a long distance to middle distance runner in high school (cross country, indoor track, outdoor track) and I swear by Asics. I'm currently in their Kayano-16 shoes, and I am in love with them. Running a 5K in these shoes feel so nice. I've got a pair of racing shoes as well, but I only use those for track. Distance is my main deal, so cross country is what I enjoy most. It's probably because of the endorphins. I'm on downtime from track right now, but I'll be getting back into outdoor soon. Hoping to increase my regimen as junior year comes, so I keep myself busy (naturally, I hate standing still) alongside my AP courses. Right now I run a 5:45 or so mile, and I'm working on breaking 18:50 for my 5K. I want to be a triathelete, but first I want to see if I can do it. Biking and running are easy, but I'm just worried about swimming. Also, can anyone recommend any good workout regimens for training? I'm starting to train independently from my team, both with weight workouts and distance workouts. My goal by senior year is to run around a 5:10 mile, or lower, and break 18:00 on my 5K.

I also want to train for a triathlon that's held every year hella close to where I live. I just need a road bike and a place to practice swimming and I'm good.

I'm signed up for a true 5K this month, which is my first event outside of school athletic events. I'm expecting around about 19:30 to 20:30, but that's because I haven't trained too much in my downtime. Damn, this thread has made me want to run. I definitely will tomorrow. Also, on the subject of runner's high, who else knows and loves that feeling? I know that I feel fucking fantastic after a race.
I jizz myself in the middle of runner's high. It always seems to wear off just before I finish a race though, but by then I'm at least motivated to keep running faster anyway.
short people during track last year outran me every time and i'm 6'1
No i'm to short.
No i'm to short.
What's your height?
I like running. I run around 6km in 30 minutes on my treadmill when I get the chance. A couple of weeks ago I ran around Princes Park (3.2km track) in roughly 12 minutes. [editline]05:04PM[/editline] I wish I knew how fast I could sprint. [editline]05:04PM[/editline] Because I haven't raced anyone faster than me since primary school... Damn it... I want to know!
I run for fun on the way home from work.
I used to jog in the morning (around 6am) to get fit. I don't anymore because I get too tired and I dislike running in the evening as I'm fat and I don't want people to see me jiggle.

i can sprint short distances pretty fast thanks to football (american) and i jump for my t&f team for school so i have no need for running much.
But if you run, you will shed that jiggly fat and then people will see an unfat person.
I've started boxing so once I've settled in with that I'd probably start running again.
I've started boxing so once I've settled in with that I'd probably start running again.
Good work.
I've always hated distance running. I'm a sprinter, never do anything longer than 400m. I feel right at home with the 200m, though I ran the 100m most of the time at my HS track meets. Ran Varsity track all four years, went to regionals all four years.
But I live to run.
I run to live
I can only run 3km before stopping, but about 2 months ago I could only go about 300 metres :D
I just started trying out hurdles (300 meters, 36")seriously today. I need a way to practice hurdles at home, so I think I'm gonna make a ghetto-hurdle out of plastic bottles, a cardboard box, a pool noodle, and a crapload of duct tape.
I used to love running, but than I joined track and grew to hate it with a passion. But I still run for fun sometimes. A fun run if you would say.
