did you even SEE the inhumans?
Wow, I had totally forgotten about Inhumans. Now I remember it. Thanks for ruining my life
I fucking loved the first antman
It felt different from the other movies. Not by much mind you but it was enough for me.
Maybe because it wasn't about saving the world or an entire city or fighting a bazillion aliens but about a much smaller scaled adventure (pun intended). They even steal from the good guys, not to help them but their own purposes.
So, it made me enjoy it a lot more. Plus, Ant-Man probably looks the best of all the MCU alongside the new Spiderman.
you say this, but the Hulk movies, the first two Thor movies and Iron Man 3 exist
Did people really dislike IM3 that much? I can't talk about the movie itself since it's been so many years since I watched the last time nor it's relation to comics since I never read comics but the concept (Tony Stark can't fallback on his suit to save the day and rather has to use his raw ingenuity to overcome the obstacles while still dealing with the traumatic events of his past [del]movies[/del]) is something I really liked.
Hmm, even as I'm typing this post, I'm recalling some of the dumb stuff that happened in IM3 so maybe there's a reason for all that hate :v:

It genuinely baffles me how people can dislike Iron Man 3. It's definitely not as smooth and well rounded as most Marvel movies, but it does some real interesting stuff with character that you rarely see in Marvel movies.

The Mandarin reveal and combining Bleeding edge with extremis was stupid

Real Mandarin is still somewhere out there tho, don't forget that. And we may yet see Bleeding Edge in Infinity War if speculation is correct: [sp] Tony got another arc reactor in his chest/hoodie in the trailer, could be he's developed the suit by this point [/sp]
That entire thing was created because of the backlash of Iron man 3. I'm not talking about the suit I'm talking about the actual comic. They gave the director 2 comics to understand Iron Man, Extremis and Bleeding edge. Rather then come up with a new story he just combined those two comics together
I'm tired on movies that are setup for future movies whilst simultaneously relying on previous movies.
For the longest time I watched mainly these kinds of movies, only recently have I started consciously noticing the difference between these marvel sorts of movies and just regular movies. And god, do I love movies. The fact that it was basically its own thing not reliant on a previous movie or setup for anything meant I ended up enjoying the fucking Jumanji reboot more than most new Marvel films.
I like the MCU because for all intents and purposes it is built like a TV show, but proportionally blown up to blockbuster budget.
The fact each film is treated as an episode in a series rather than individual film is what makes it good for me. If I wanted self-contained stories I could easily go and watch that, it's not what I want out of the MCU specifically.
Considering the delightful insanity that was the Ant Man movie, I'm pretty damn excited for this.
I really liked Ant Man. It was a lot of fun and the action was pretty unique

The Mandarin "plot twist" was god awful, [sp]leaving a much cooler villain for a much less interesting villain, him saying "No, I'm the real Mandarin!"[/sp] I know the MCU takes a lot of liberties from the comics' canon (like AntMan actually created Ultron, but they obviously went with Iron Man because he's more popular and honestly the star of the MCU), but in some ways they just shouldn't have.
Hell, Arkham Origins did a much better bait-and-switch with its villains because they actually stuck with the villains, and took a boring villain and swapped him with a (albeit insanely overused) more interesting one.

That said, I'm incredibly far behind on the MCU, and I still do plan on catching up. I remember being extremely excited for Avengers, and although we may never reach that point again, I still greatly appreciate the saga.
Actually Ant Man was supposed to create Ultron in the MCU since his movie was supposed to come out around the time of Thor 1 but Edgar delayed the movie for 8 years
the thing is, on each MCU entry they either
a) set it as "the one that sets apart from the formula" (like antman or guardians of the galaxy did)
b) expand the formula (like doctor strange or captain america)
b) be bigger than anything else in the past (avengers)
