It went terribly slow and crashed all the time back when I still had Windows installed, so, for me, yeah, it's really that bad.
Also, out of all platforms there are, it's only natively supported on two: Windows and Windows Phone.
And to all people who say 'who the fuck cares about multiplatform support': Imagine you have a special piece of hardware. It can be used in a PC. It speeds up absolutely EVERYTHING in about 600%.
You might say 'Wow, yeah, great'. But now: That piece of hardware can ONLY be used in Canada. In other countries, it just doesn't work.
Is the piece of hardware useful for the whole world, then?
The second I open IE it crashes.
I don't think its terrible. Its just really basic.
I have to use IE for work and it's noticeably slower than firefox.
People say they have crashing issues with it but I have a perfectly stable build that's two to three times slower than any other browser.
Internet Explorer usually sits on my computer till the end of time, and usually somewhere along the timeline it spontaneously cripples, stops working, and just sits as a slow, severely crippled orphan, usually after I already have chrome and firefox on at the same time.
To you, is Internet Explorer really that bad?
How else would you download Chrome? :v:
How else would you download Chrome? :v:
That's its only use.
I think the bad reputation IE has is mostly undeserved by now. It has been largely improved, and are no longer the shitty, crippled browser that it used to be.
That being said, i'll still stick to chrome and firefox. Mostly because of multiplatform suport, and because of the larger amount of extensions available for the two. IE does not deserve the shitty reputation it has, though i still judge the people using it as tech-tards.
Maybe this is too tangential but I really don't think that your browser choice is a discussion-worthy topic. I don't want to sound preachy, but there are so many important things that one should have an opinion on. But then again, I visited this thread...
It's not that bad, it's just that there is nothing that convince me to actually use internet explorer.
The older versions are bad, it's gotten much better with IE11. But I still do not recommended using it because Firefox/Chrome is still doing a better job.
Aye.
It improved, but it still sucks. Almost no extension compatibility for one.

After every fresh Windows installation, I boot into my xUbuntu 'liveCD' from my USB flash drive. Then I would download the Chrome installer for Windows, mount the Windows partition and transfer the installer onto the partition.
After that, I would reboot into Windows and run the installer. :downs:
Internet Explorer SUCKS! I switched to Google Chrome.
Tried IE10 and its still slow compared to firefox especially when it comes to loading websites.
And the biggest - its gets is that it can't run extensions like adblock.
Gotta be honest, I now see things as Chrome>Firefox>Opera>IE>Safari
IE 7 (or 6?) is terrible on fresh windows xp installations. I can't even get to the page for SP3 download before "Internet explorer has encountered a problem."
The desktop version is not as good because there are really barely any add ons or themes.
The metro version however is quite right. I just wish some would make an ad blocker for it.
If you're on a Surface Pro, what choice do you have..
I haven't used IE in a very long time; I prefer Opera now, and since they will soon swap out Presto for the Blink rendering engine, Opera will soon be pretty much equivalent in speed to Chrome, but without many of Chrome's flaws. I don't know if IE is bad per se, but other browsers are definitely better.

Its definitely at the point now that if you have to use it, there is a low chance of hanging yourself in the closet.

God, you must really have a grudge against Internet Explorer. Unless you're installing a version of XP before IE7/8 was included on the disk then I don't know why you'd want to do that apart from geek points. It is pretty clever, I must admit.
It's not that it's a terrible browser now, but I feel as the older versions of were. Being so, everyone switched over to Chrome, and Firefox, and whatever other browsers people have chosen. Now that they've been using them for so long, and everyone is so used to the browser they've been using, no one really wants to go back.
Well, that's my case, and by reading some of these, it's the same for others as well.
IE's release cycle is simply too slow to keep up with how fast the web evolves, and there is the fact IE is tied to specific versions of Windows, it makes using modern features in websites extremely difficult.
Yes. I use FireFox. But I find Google Chrome to be the "fastest".
I've personally wanted to stick with Chrome and Opera because they work noticeably faster than when I used to only use internet explorer a while ago. I'm also a fan of the layout of chrome, maybe because I'm so used to it from my Android tablet and phone after at least a couple years of use.
I haven't even gotten near touching the newest versions of IE because I have the same mindset as you, whatever works for me, and I've already burrowed myself with bookmarks and plugins in Chrome and I don't see why I would want to change.
The newest versions of IE are fine, although they are still have a couple of minor problems which make most people stick to Chrome/Firefox/Whatever they use.
I would only switch to IE if it had something to make it considerably better than Chrome for me, mostly because of IE's sketchy history I almost expect them to screw up again and make it worse.
This is coming from a web designer who has many good reasons to hate the old versions of IE.
Some current less bias benchmarking on browsers:

Firefox master race. How can you guys even say IE is half good?
My ranking of the "Big three" Browsers would be..
1.Google Chrome
2. IE
3. Firefox
Firefox is pretty customizeable, but is horrible on my PC for some reason, idk why.
I have used firefox for years, I like it better than any of the others and in my opinion it's better than IE but I may just be biased.
Last time I used Firefox on my desktop and laptop it would freeze for 15 seconds when initially loading and opening links in a new tab was just suicide.
IE really is a load of complete garbage.
Microsoft in total is a load of garbage, imo.
