Can anyone point me to what I should watch when it comes to GitS, cause I tried to find it myself and there's 2 series and a movie and I have no idea which ones are good or not.
If you like slow paced, light on dialogue, atmospheric movies then watch the 95 movie first. If you want something with a little faster pace/more character focused then watch SAC first.
We might be getting a 3rd Gig of SAC though.
Fuck yeah! I don't know why they even bothered with Arise tbh, it was an utter stinker.

1:41 looked pretty bad from a cg standpoint
If you wanted to make a big dumb hollywood action movie out of gits then just take the plot of the 2nd episode of stand alone complex. The whole episode is them trying to stop a renegade tank as it rampages its way from one city to another. It's revealed that the tank was being piloted by the disembodied brain of its designer, who was going to use it to kill his parents as revenge for prohibiting him from receiving treatment from a terminal disease. It's thought provoking yet simple to comprehend and has lots of opportunities for explosions.
Even that's too much for Hollywood. The guy [sp]was never trying to hurt his parents, but instead showing them his greatest creation.[/sp] Hollywood can't handle leaving people with questions unless it's part of a sequel tie-in cliffhanger.
Yeah Stand Alone Complex is :ok:, and the franchise is fragmented, theres no real in continuity overlap besides the same basic premise across the manga, films, OVA's, and series'. We might be getting a 3rd Gig of SAC though.
Better yet, Toonami's showing SAC at the end of its lineup on Saturdays now (though technically sunday). Two episodes in, but it's good timing.
Scarlett Johansson still should not be the Major.
i dont even care anymore about that, im more concerned how dumb the plot sounds. It seems like this is her "origins story" and they're focusing on that rather than some sort of cyberpunk conspiracy, political intrigue or anything else from the anime.
If we're lucky, they'll have their little origin story for the Major which leaves everything in a standard Section 9 status quo for a sequel, and then that sequel will be an actual GiTS story without superhero origin nonsense.
I'll prolly be skipping this. I'm really tired of the whole "generic action movie with successful geek franchise slapped over it without regard to what people actually liked about the source material" trend
Sounds more like "I want there to be one soon"
Its like a riddle. The "can looking forward to it?" leads me to think its a thing thats happening. Would make sense with the SAC game that came out and the movie, good time to capitalize.
She died of cancer the other year.
Rest in peace. She had a beautiful and iconic voice which will not be forgotten.
Seeing as this film's director is known for advertisements and "Snow White and the Huntsman", I'm not exactly optimistic.
Maybe it's too soon to judge as it could be a 'good directing if the rest of the movie works' case scenario. This happens pretty often. For me as by now I can say two compliments that are related to each other: - The visuals seem to approach an actually pretty cyberpunk environments in it's own right - The aspect ratio / film format thing that they are presenting for the trailers, taking your entire screen, no letterbox, is just perfect catching people to get to see the movie. For me it scales the look of this big, futuristic city. The city, in my honest opinion, looks pretty 'original' and it just stands out for me. I may just see the movie for the visuals, but only once I get to know if they deliver the right editing, giving you the time to appreciate them, or it's just 2 second candy per shot. [editline]17th February 2017[/editline] They have a pretty dubious team working on this though. A writer of Spectral and the critically acclaimed movie Street Kings. A writer from the three last released transformers movies. Clint Mansell composes this, that's neat. One of the two editors of Battleship, a guilty-pleasure of mine. Another editor who worked on the director's prior movie.
