I'm kind of finding all the people who are going, "I can't wait to move" or "Will Country X accept me if I try to live there" really hilarious. Not only are you over-reacting and just trying to get a rouse with those statements, but it's kind of sad how you guys would rather run away from the problem then actually face it best you can. Did the US become a police state when Lincoln [I]suspended[/I] certain key amendments of the Bill of Rights? Did we become a dictatorship when we began throwing citizens into Internment camps on the basis of race and fearmongering? This is going to be at worst something we'll never really hear of again, or used in situations that you will probably think, "yeah it was wrong, but I can see why they used it." The government is far more incompetent then insidious, remember that. And if it gets worse? Don't just hightail and run away like a bunch of cowards, actually do something about it instead of whimpering for a ticket on the next plane or boat somewhere else.

No thanks. I want to be able to have a decent life, preferably with my girlfriend. When Lincoln did that it was war time, we are not in a time of war or civil uprising.

Not at war like we were now, we knew our enemy, our enemy had a face and a nationality. They wore a Uniform, and were a national threat to us all. They weren't a band of religious zealots carrying 60 year old rifles not wearing a uniform, they were well trained soldiers who wore a uniform and had state of the art weapons. Our wars with them lasted but a few years, this war we're in now has gone on for a decade, and isn't slowing up. Our latest generation of children has grown up in a society in a constant state of fear mongering. They don't know what it was like before we were at war, and it sucks.

It's really interesting to see how often the more controversial parts of that Act were used, and how some parts of it were in fact gutted after a few years of it being passed. It doesn't sound too convincing when she begins to say, with a hushed ominous tone, "these facilities have been popping up, they call them 'Fusion Centers...'" That looked more like another case of a cop being stupid and doing what he wasn't supposed to do.

I don't understand the federal government's logic here? This bullshit is okay but they feel the need to sue Arizona for asking citizens to prove their citizenship. Seems like the same sort of principle.

I'm already under the eye of the military and this going on top of it. People may be exaggerating, alright, but this is only a stepping stone to what happens next.
