• Crazy Russian tries out his Tesla Model S in a flooded tunnel

Reminds me of the guy who drove his corvette through a flood- and made it. Neat stuff. Actual millimeters away from getting water in the intake, probably.

The little dance of joy at the end tho
Dare I say this corvette actually got more submerged than the Tesla
Submerging the Tesla or Corvette for any longer than what we saw would probably end bad for both of them
Submerging the Tesla or Corvette for any longer than what we saw would probably end bad for both of them
I dunno, the Tesla would have probably been fine for a bit longer than the Corvette. I'm sure the engineers at Tesla realised they would need to seal the electronic units from water damage. You can't really do much about air intake in the Corvette, it kinda needs that to run. They'd both suffer some kind of water damage, but the Tesla realistically should have continued working longer.
He should have activated the 007 easter egg before going through. Changes the car image on the dash: [thumb]https://i.ytimg.com/vi/X0JNwxeId1c/maxresdefault.jpg[/thumb]
Submerging the Tesla or Corvette for any longer than what we saw would probably end bad for both of them
I didn't mean in time but in depth, it seemed to me the corvette got quite more covered in water than the Tesla did. The water was covering the hood for a good while there. Just look at 0:37
The Model S is extremely airtight as well, they were even joking with this with having a biohazard option in their air filtering menu.
Not really, they just rely on positive pressure in the cabin to force outside air through the HVAC filter.

Well honestly I'm unsure about how the Tesla would fare in prolonged exposure, but the Corvette would eventually die at that depth.
it would have to be water-tight to prevent it getting regular day-to-day water damage so i would guess so
This is like taking your waterproof smartphone though to a dive, its probably its not how it was intended :v:
This is like taking your waterproof smartphone though to a dive, its probably its not how it was intended :v:
No, not really. Consumer-grade waterproofing is nowhere near industrial grade stuff like what you find in vehicles and boats.
If that's what you took away then you missed the point, Tesla's aren't boats and you're going to have a bad time if you keep driving them like that
The water definitely was at least level with the bottom of the filter, which is located at the front of the car at the end of the hood. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Rb0j6uA.jpg[/t] His car likely only survived because of how fast it was going.
If that's what you took away then you missed the point, Tesla's aren't boats and you're going to have a bad time if you keep driving them like that
I'm sure whatever seal they implemented was designed to survive low water pressure like that. Probably not perfectly, but enough to avoid damage.
