I'd like to see a game where you play as a German dissenter who was conscripted in WWII, the first half of the game being defending yourself against the Allies and the later half being all about subterfuge and sabotage from the inside of the German military.

My friend read a book where one of the main characters was a 17-year old conscript in the German army. He said it was pretty good, I should find it and read it.
Not all german people are bad, only the Nazis. And even then, most of them wanted to kill Hitler and stop what he was doing anyways. Go watch some movies that tell their side, I recommend [url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0985699/]Valkyrie[/url], very good movie. Also, think about this, they had concentration camps, we [i]had[/i] Guantanamo Bay. Hell, we probably committed as many war crimes as the Germans, for ex. the war we are having right now and the Vietnam war, we tortured and killed many of our war prisoners/civilians.
Also, the German Military also tried to take more than Europe, they tried to take Egypt, and other parts of Africa as well.

Obiously the Axis forces were probably as bad as the Allied forces, it's the Nazis that give them a bad image. They are portrayed in movies how they were portrayed in 1945, or they are shown to be the enemy as a lesson.

Of course video games are gonna be that way, they're the bad guys and thus you good guys are going to have to kill them by the hundreds. Movies aren't so bad though. Band of Brothers for example was pretty fair to them, maybe even sympathetic at times.

I don't see how killing civilians within your own country before they even started a war with you compares to a country that has already shown how well it can commit war crimes (Rape of Nanking or Unit 731, needless executions of POW, One Australian was even killed after the war ended.) and was planning to have a full scale war with the United States where the stakes would probably the same.
