Facebook makes me feel important and also tells me if a girl is single without actually putting forth effort it is nice
The only reason a girl would have something like 1,000 friends is because quiet guys in the same class as her add her as a friend so they can creep.
I Like You, Man, But Talking Like This On Your Title Really Stopped Me From Reading The Article.
That's how titles work and everything.
A useful tool is called FB Purity http://www.fbpurity.com/ Not only does it block all of that application bullshit from your news feed, but you can specify certain words that automatically block statuses from your news feed if they are present. For example, I put "jersey" in my filter so I never have to see another news feed update about jersey shore. That way, you can block out stupid shit people say if you're not man enough to delete them.
I partially agree with you here on the Facebook thing. I think some people need to limit their usage on it. I don't, however, think this is the main problem with the youth of today. The youth of today don't take an interest in anything other than what involves them, at least at my school. They don't take an interest in school at all, now I can understand this and I believe the school system needs a major overhaul, but the majority of chatter I hear in the halls usually involves some melodramatic relationship or who texted who. Given that about every other day someone in my English class asks some idiotic question like "What does the word society mean?" it really shows that something is seriously wrong. Everyone needs a social life, but when you extend it so far as to not improve yourself in any other way other than what you think would be appealing to your peers it goes a little overboard. I have trouble expressing my anger around this issue and I experience it every single day. It's just looking at the shallow lives of the average teenager. Now that's my little rant, I know some of you might disagree, but none of you can deny the fact that our culture and society are changing, whether for the better, or for worse.
Man, the only reason why I have 200 friends is because half of them are women I fap to. Wait what?
I have to kind of agree with you. But you are talking about a "the facebook addict" I myself have a facebook my uses for them are Keeping in touch. Cheaper than texting or making a phone call. Making plans with people. Same reason above. Finding out about gigs that are local. Adding bands will write a status of when and where they're playing. I also have about over 300 or 350 friends. This is due to my real name is the same as a famous model so this causes the "random adds" and some times some person will add me ask and I can't be arsed to delete them. Plus people track you down if you met them once. But the amount that it is used could be due to also having facebook on phones. Yet again I use this to let my family members know when I'm coming home or when I have arrived to meet friends. Cheaper than a phone call. But if you find people sitting on it all day changing display pictures and have a album full of pictures of them selves yeah they need help. Or just need to get out a bit more. I may have to do a bit of cleaning on my profile now. But all in all sir I do agree with the amount of users are constantly are on facebook.
I think of my friends list more as an acquaintances list
I'm not a fan of facebook fads. Girls are pretty bad for it. Right now the younger crowd on my facebook is obsessed with posting quotes in their statuses i'm sure they don't know the meaning of.
I don't really want to disagree with you simply because of how much work you put into this thread, but honestly...you're wrong, Facebook is just a way for people to get connected and make friends. I'd like to point out that people have lots of friends on facebook just because, to make more friends
avergejoe has posted 11 times, with none of them being intelligent responses tldr: avergejoe is a 13 year old boy with Alzheimer

wow, its the same guy from "driving with Salvia" vid. Nice
I wouldn't worry about facebook that much, the new generation is more likely to be /b/ obsessed retards, most kids I've seen who've been born after 1997 know about 4chan and shout stupid memes on the internet and real life. "over 9000 XDDDDDDDDDD" Edit: I like fuuan who rated me dumb, jpg compressed non-transparent 4chan meme avatar, two posts. Just proves my point.
one time i posted goatse on my frind's facebook page.
I disagree, I like Facebook. Like you said 1/12 (500,000,000) people are using it. It's like a gigantic shithole for a bunch of idiots, a gathering if you will, a sifter. Sort of like how all the Roleplay servers on Garry's Mod keep all the idiots in one spot.
First of all, this is being blown out of proportion. The people obsessed with this represent, what 10% of the population? And they would be like that even without facebook, however it does allow for a stronger hive-mentality influence. However, facebook, in itself, is a good thing. It's great thing. You shouldn't destroy it when you can fix the hive mentality, it's just a matter of enforcing this on the media, which will enforce it on the population, which will teach it to their kids.
that's a problem with your friends, not facebook.
Fair play, guess I was being a little naive.
Sure, hive mind and herd mentality is nothing new, but this latest form seems to be quickly becoming the most damaging of all it's forms we've seen throughout the course of human advancement.
I loled at this..you are blowing this way out of proportion.
I loled at this..you are blowing this way out of proportion.
True a site isn't going to kill or damage children. If anything it would be the internet it self. I have to say I couldn't go a day without going online.
True a site isn't going to kill or damage children. If anything it would be the internet it self.
However, it seems to kill the fuck out of peoples' grammar!
Good read, OP, good read.
Wow. Are you guys seriously acting like Facebook is some idiot machine that will kill our chances of having great men and women in the future? Stop overreacting about it.
However, it seems to kill the fuck out of peoples' grammar!
That's not just facebook. People type like that all the time. It speeds up the typing process because most of them aren't very fast with keyboards. Also, how is people being so addicted to social network sites and a bunch of other relevant stuff new or restricted to Facebook at all? Myspace has been around for a while and people acted addicted to it. Some of those people were about 16-18 or so and are probably mature adults now. Stop trying to make like Facebook is some bad thing that has no benefits whatsoever.
It speeds up the typing process because most of them aren't very fast with keyboards.
bc typin liek ths is so much fster thn ani othr wai of typin, plus it rly gts ur point acros an etablis's ur kredblti God, that took far too long to type out.
bc typin liek ths is so much fster thn ani othr wai of typin, plus it rly gts ur point acros an etablis's ur kredblti God, that took far too long to type out.
Because you aren't used to it. It's the internet, who gives a fuck about spelling?
Because you aren't used to it. It's the internet, who gives a fuck about spelling?
Do you realize that you just validated part of OP's point?
Do you realize that you just validated part of OP's point?
Still, that doesn't change that fact that he's pretty much wrong beyond belief. He thinks that having a bunch of Facebook friends makes people happy even though they are depressed, that is SO goddamn false. Most people just friend requests and accept it because THEY DON'T CARE. If you DON'T CARE about what people say about their day, just ignore them. It's not like Facebook spams your E-mail with what people put on their statuses. OP is just crying over people doing perfectly normal things.
Actually that is a good point too. I've noticed that often. What happened to calling up the person or texting them in private? It's like they WANT people to see they're communicating with others to fulfill some insecurity or something.
Completely true (even though this post is 3 days old), for some people. Such as, my ex was the #1 example of this. He could chat and talk just fine online and over texts, and did so freqently (he even texted his WoW friends from around the world). However when it came to conversing or interacting in real life he was extremely awkward and shallow minded to be around. At first I just dismissed it as typical introversion (which I was too) and he'd grow out of it. Sadly instead I feel like he just pushed away person-to-person situations unless they specifically involved things that would directly benefit him, or benefit his cool-image to others (which too late I percieved as one of his major values, typical behavior of a really socially insecure individual). It didn't help that the crowd he lived with was the frat-type too.
Facebook is just the new rock and roll.
people obsessing over facebook does not entail the impending failure of the current generation. if anything, this is just sensationalist bullshit inspired by a website the OP doesn't like.
Pretty much this.
