You're right Rangergxi there isn't a whole cultural phenomenon with sexualization of women in Asia. Sweet Avatar by the way

Well no. Sexualizing females for male audiences is not sexist. Sexualizing male characters for female audiences isn't sexist either. Not to mention gay audiences, etc. Stop demonizing sex in the name of being progressive.
Not sure at what you're getting at. Are you suggesting that sexual content is immoral or oppresses women in some way? Gonna try to spin this into me denying sexism in Asia? There is nothing sexist about sexualizing your own sex or the opposite sex. Puritanical feminism that seeks to demonize sexuality to protect women is toxic and some of the worst sexism there is. Its demeaning to suggest that men and women shouldn't be equals in this regard.
oh man the jokes "I'll link you to the video (UN conference) in the description...... it's in my c: drive"
You're right Rangergxi there isn't a whole cultural phenomenon with sexualization of women in Asia. Sweet Avatar by the way
google otome games or look at steams list of otome games, there's alot. http://store.steampowered.com/tag/en/Otome/?snr=1_5_9__409#p=0&tab=NewReleases also the entire big yaoi market in asian territories.
Only way to stop her is to ignore her and stop paying attention to her dumb ass That is god's honest truth
Nope, calling her out on her bullshit is the best move.
You're right Rangergxi there isn't a whole cultural phenomenon with sexualization of women in Asia. Sweet Avatar by the way

The first otome game is generally acknowledged to be Angelique, released in 1994 by Koei in Japan for the Super Famicom, and created by an all-female team. The game was originally targeted to pre-teen and younger teenage girls, but became unexpectedly popular with older teenagers and women in their 20s.
Careful of the egde Killuah.
Not sure at what you're getting at.
I know. I've known since 2013. March. (User was banned for this post ("Dumb trolling" - Craptasket))
You're right Rangergxi there isn't a whole cultural phenomenon with sexualization of women in Asia. Sweet Avatar by the way
Seriously? The avatar Card? Wow. Okay so let me get this straight. Sexual Content is sexist? Even though the market has Female and MALES sexualized? Doesn't sound sexist to me. Asia also sexualizes their Males btw.

[editline]29th October 2015[/editline] And I hope you can read that I'm still a bit ironic by the way I worded this
But they don't have a sexism problem.
Asia doesnt have a sexism problem?
Have you considered that their Culture is actually...okay *Gasp* with it? I mean if they weren't then surely enough people would not want it. In fact if I am correct, a lot of Female Asians like it, and designed some notable sexualized females.

And the point you are trying to make is weird and dumb. "but some women like sexualized females too" Really?
I'm talking about sexism in general, not lewd characters in your favourite form of entertainment in specific.
...Ah I see...But I don't see Asians dissing Women at all.
...Ah I see...But I don't see Asians dissing Women at all.
I guess everything is ok in India, China, Russia, Mongolia, Thailand, Japan, Korea... I don't know, maybe you are trolling me or something.
I guess everything is ok in India, China, Russia, Mongolia, Thailand, Japan, Korea... I don't know, maybe you are trolling me or something.
I'm not. I don't see women in Asian games being discriminated against. And if Sexism is a problem in Asia, surely I would have read some stuff about it from the media right? If it's that bad I mean.
I don't even know what to reply to this. [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] Are you trolling?
....I literally just said I'm not. Can you provide evidence that Asia has a Sexism Problem?
It's not uppon me to make you read the news but I understand why you don't see it now. https://twitter.com/ExploSilo/status/638921188295598080
It's times like these someone outta break up the fight, but i'd much rather prepare my popcorn :sax:
I know. I've known since 2013. March.
Great discussion, nice counter point. Rebuttal: Grow the fuck up.
....I literally just said I'm not. Can you provide evidence that Asia has a Sexism Problem?
Well, their societies are generally way more conservative and traditional than the ones in the west, and that has implications (Traditional family, barriers for women in university studies, difficulty to get into certain types of jobs are some issues that exist both in Asia and everywhere else, but arguably more over there since there aren't that many laws or rights for women). However on the games I'm pretty sure they're only marketing what they can sell, nothing else and definitely nothing wrong with sexualizing anything, even more if it's just fantasy, creations. I don't think having games with sexual content make me misogynist or think that actual women are fucktoys or something. You're both talking about different things and neither of you is entirely right or wrong

https://twitter.com/ExploSilo/status/638921188295598080
Holy fuck, are you serious? You are seriously going through our shit (and yes I know I have it linked) to use as "ammo"? I'm sorry for growing up in a family where Sex wasn't demonized. I saw naked Women on my Dads desktop (it was the art stuff like the Birth of Venus and other stuff) all the time. My dad is very much a feminist, he doesn't like a whole lot of sexualized stuff so I take a lot of his opinions and stuff on the matter seriously. Just because I bought a video game like that means I don't understand it? What is wrong with you man? Also, that is one thing. And maybe if you did some research on the game and it's story, you would understand it's not Sexist. Over sexualized yes, but sexualization isn't sexism.
Why are you guys talking about sexism in Asia now in a thread for a video about feminist frequency? Feels like you guys are getting a bit side-tracked tbh (as usual on fp.)

I honestly don't see anything about Asia and sexism in the news besides video games. So I don't know if they have a problem, which is why I asked for evidence. And yes, I was talking outta my butt for a lil bit, but I still don't think they are more Sexist than the rest of the world.

Japan I recall as having issues with sexism but I don't remember much news about it. Both of us don't see much news on it because you live in Aus, and me, the US. Won't really hear about it. Then again, Japan in particular is really kind when it comes to crime rates, so it's problems are hard to understand because they have different problems than the US at least has. Different ways it has issues.
pffffffftttt hahhahahaha You choose that of all examples of Asian sexism while trying to put it in the same league as indian rape gangs? come on man
sexism against men and sexism against women don't mutually cancel each other out you know. or maybe objectification is a better word in all of this.

I'm just not ready to have more of those useless debates where we fling sources and "strawman strawman STRAWMAN!" around and end up in meta discussion. I'm not ready to ennoble the opinion of Rangegxi who certainly has a reputation on facepunch. I'm tired of this.
There's sexism, exploitation and human trafficking throughout all the world. Just some places it's worse than others. [editline]29th October 2015[/editline] Like Japan has a problem with underage human trafficking, India has roving rape gangs, Russia has a corrupt government with all sort's of ties to the mob etc. You're not gonna get anywhere in a discussion by going "OH NO X PLACE IS WORSE" because literally every country has it's flaws.
I will admit, I don't know a whole lot about Asia with Sexism, except when it comes to games...and I know that the games are over sexualized but not sexist. I honestly don't see anything about Asia and sexism in the news besides video games. I wish sex was something that could be included in any kind of game because it's normal, healthy and something most of us like experiencing, even as voyeurs.
