japan doesnt have a 'sexualising women' problem anymore than it has a problem sexualising literally anything else
are u aware that it sexualizes men (especially gay ones) equally. there is an entire genre dedicated to the depiction of sexualised gay men.
japan has a 'problem' sexualizing everything, and whether or not it's a problem really depends on your perspective

i am of the opinion that sex is healthy and normal and sexualising human beings is not a problem at all in its proper environment
It's obviously a problem since they have massive social problems and relationship problems at the same time.
A society where lewd chibi/loli characters in mainstream meadia are A-OK but talking to the opposite sex makes people panic obviously has problems.

BREAKING: Every country has this problem, even me.
Also thanks for the insult, just because I have trouble talking to the opposite sex doesn't make me sexist.
Is it a surprise to people that Japan has some genuine sexism issues? The place is conservative as fuck and kinda stuck in the past socially.
I think there may be some sexism in Asia, but anime tits aren't the reason
Sex is legal, ripping people limb from limb is illegal, guess which one is allowed in video games!
This is what bothers me the most. It's okay to show someone's limbs get decapitating in excruciatingly gory detail, and all you get is an M rating. But, having sex makes it AO and completely off-limits.
I have to look away when games are extremely gory.

This is news to me. Since when loli art has become mainstream, it's always been a niche kind of thing. Also how much of a loser you have to be for being upset over anime boobs?

I think you're a bit horrible because you point out and decry human sexuality placed into videogames.
Humans are sexual creatures, sexualizing women and men, or more importantly, fake women and men, doesn't suddenly enforce misogynistic and misandrist tendencies onto those who watch or even partake.
You're also pointing out games that have a sexual under-theme to them as Senran Kagura, which i'm entirely sure that there's videogames akin to that in the western (Europe/America) as well. Japan is just more loose with it.
You're also ignoring the market around sexualizing men in Japanese culture where there's even a Trope for it http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Bishonen.
I think you really need to relax, there's nothing wrong with sexualizing characters, female or male. Yes, it's lewd, but it's hilarious to go after this type and ignore pornography that was generally around since the dawn of civilization.

It's mainstream?
I haven't seen any tbh
the fact that they chose to use tits and skimpy clothing for the covers, add campaigns and all of that stuff still proves the point.
No.
I have nothing against sex. The sex used in The Witcher 2 and 3 is well done . Fits the narrative, done maturely.
In the first one they used the collectible cards and that was not so cool since they obviously used calculated controversy to promote the game and the media jumped in as expected. Problematic.
We were initially speaking about sexism in media and people got upset because I brought up Rangergxis lewd little anime girl. It's not about that specifically.

Uh no, people got upset because you assumed Asia was more Sexist than the rest of the world.

tbh idk about you but I felt that the fact that women just fuck Geralt on the drop of a hat a bit tasteless
oh there are villagers wanting to murder us outside of the cave and a child near by, want to fuck?
(refering to witcher 1 specifically)

If you can find me some articles about how bad Asia is with Sexism, then please link me. I can't find any.
[editline]29th October 2015[/editline]
If you are talking about how Girls in Japan (and I assume other Asia countries) are molested and stuff by Old Men then yes I can agree that they do have a problem.
If you can find me some articles about how bad Asia is with Sexism, then please link me. I can't find any.
We should really just say Japan/Korea instead since that's what the topic is about, because parts of asia have a psychotic amount of sexism, specifically India, where rape is pretty much entirely legal
Asia is too broad, I kind of originally fucked up by saying "Asia" and not "Jap/S. Kor", throwing everything into a giant loop and now everyone is saying it
But naturally, since this is a thread about Anita, who does stuff about Sexism in games, I thought you mainly meant games.

i dunno sounds more like you made a really weak generalization about a country based on your own ignorance and you got called out for it???
I can understand why Japanese developers don't care about this sexism topic in regards to video games.
You can't win no matter how hard you argue or cater to them.

They probably see westerners being upset about tits as an average stupid thing westerners do.
excuse me
miss lady
sociology is real, thank you
also this entire video is pretty darn humorous but kinda meaningless unless you've been keeping up with all the anita stuff. either way, someone get some aloe vera

A video about a specific thing is meaningless unless you know about that specific thing? Is that surprising to anyone?

maybe you should ask people or professionals that actually know anything about japan instead of looking at it with your western mindset.

guess i walked into that one

I do love how popular (loud) feminism went from sexual liberation to sexual conservatism, I know its different people, but I think its funny that they consider it the same ideology
What a waste of 12 minutes, yeah Anita is a loathsome huckster but nothing in that video screamed "destroyed". It was a shallow, generally personal series of attacks on a person who learned how to inoculate herself from caring about such attacks a long time ago, and who has a fanbase willing to forgive any transgressions.
But yeah, #rekt Anita's star is falling as we speak. uhh if you think that she's not fading than you're sadly mistaken, it wasn't long ago where that name was in the back of everyone's heads, now most people are like 'oh yeah shes still a thing?' when shes mentioned
