Shame most of the oral histories and stories got wiped out by the Residential schools and large-scale assimilation. I still enjoy them when I get an opportunity to hear them though.
Most aboriginals today seem to be Christian with no real appreciation of their roots, it's kind of a shame but that's the way things are I guess
Yes I understand the hypocrisy of someone with Irish ancestry saying this
I hate essentially all herbal and homoeopathic medicines. They are leftovers from the middle ages and should have been left there.
If I was in charge every single herbal and homoeopathic establishment would be shut down and converted into a real medical establishment.
Herbs do work, though there's an equal amount of misconceptions about them. The most common misconception is that people think it's natural so it doesn't have any negative side effects. This is just as dangerous or even more dangerous than homeopathy. On top of that, lots of these herbal medicines are being praised like they can cure anything, which is not true. And 25% of the "synthetic" medicines are also based on natural resources, just a lot more refined and controlled.

I hate Christian aboriginals who say I'm "killing the culture" or "uprooting" it because I'm pale. Yeah too bad you wouldn't even be a Christian if it weren't for assimilation. :downs:
We should go back to the seven teachings they were the shit.

Natives should have a choice of which culture they wish to follow, not all wish to continue doing what their ancestors did.
The concept isn't even that bad, but there are dilutions so extreme that the medicine doesn't even contain 1 molecule of the toxin.
I'm using some pills with actual toxins though, and they seem to work for me.
Because people will feel better when they are given "false" treatment in cases where they can't be helped otherwise.
False cures have been administered since the dawn of time to avoid depression, increase morale and sometimes even to avoid getting yourself hanged just because the cure for that castle lords cancer hasn't been invented yet.
Edit: It's dumb as shit to give it to people who could be treated though.
I have no strong cultural ties, and use aspirin as a general cure-all. Headache? Aspirin. Upset stomach? Aspirin. Hand struck with hammer, swollen like a ripe fruit? Aspirin. Arterial blood fountaining from inner thigh? Probably not aspirin because that shit's a blood-thinner.
I can carry the entire contents of my medicine cabinet in my pocket.
On a related note, I've gorged myself on luxury jerky products that my good cousin was kind enough to bring me from Florida. This stomach pain would go great with a side of aspirin.
As for homeopathic cures? I can't imagine that a respectable doctor would subscribe them to anybody other than troublesome hypochondriacs as a "get out of my office" scrip.
The fact that you think herbal and homeopathic medicines are the same thing disqualifies you from commenting on them whatsoever
EVERYONE READ THIS:
Herbal medicine: Medicines that use herbs/plants/natural stuff. Often works as well as synthetic drugs, or better. Can react dangerously with other medication. It's the real deal.
Homeopathic remedies: Water. Homeopaths believe that the more you dilute a substance, the more potent it becomes because water has a "memory". A drop of medicine in the ocean followed by drinking a glass of water from the ocean will give you more actual medicine that homeopathic remedies will.
I wouldn't paint all herbal medicine as better or just as good as synthetic drugs. The word herbal has been hijacked by the same people peddling homeopathy.

Well it's a good thing I didn't do that then!
Placebos can work on some minor things that are just psychological. For instance if you believe you are coated in bees but you aren't actually, and you ask a doctor to do something then he would give you pills that gets rid of bees. Now there is of course no such pill, but if you believed so it might just kick you out of that delusion that there were bees on you.

Synthetic drugs can be made much better. We just need to give scientists a lot of animals to test it on and materials, all provided enthusiastically by the state so better drugs and medicines can be developed.

Why don't we just use minorities
OR, enslave the children of poor families and use them for medical testing since they won't amount to anything anyway
their cries are the trumpets of progress
I had no idea there are actual companies for this bullshit. I thought it only went as far as like local establishments with people that do homeopathy in addition to other treatments.
Fuck this shit.

From about 1:20, sums it up pretty well.
People confuse Homeopathy with herbal medicine, but they are very different. Herbal medicine is based on what people have observed to work down through the centuries.
Homeopathy is a scam, where they take something, dilute it until all you're left with is water and say that it will cure you.
The main reason that they are particularly dangerous is that:
1. They are STRONGLY against conventional medicine, especially vaccination.
2. They are very good at PR.
They constantly stir up shit to harm development of things they disagree with and have caused big delays in the fight against serious diseases.

This video pretty much sums up what I think about homeopathic medicine.
No I meant that both are stupid throwbacks to the middle ages, the only similarity is that idiots think they work when modern science can make much better ones.
