Is it the fact that he's a complete douchebag?
He sounds like one to me, and i don't think the hood helps him look anything less than a douchebag. Then again, i used to think that Angry Joe looked a bit like a douchebag at first, a few years back.
What the fuck are you even arguing at this point? Whenever someone makes a post saying why this is more of an issue than you're making it out to be you completely ignore that part of the post and comment on something else instead. If you have permission to film an interview with a developer about their product, you have ownership over your own footage and you have the right to monetize your video. These aren't separate conflicts. If you do a review, that's a transformative work allowing fair use of the game footage. You're not monetizing a third parties' footage alone, you're monetizing your review which is entirely legally different. They have no right to pull your video as it's a transformative work. No rightsholder would ever win in a court of public opinion, which is why this system is awful by requiring the proof be the burden of the video creator.
I don't disagree that it's an issue and that the system should be made a lot more flexible in that regard.
Fair use really doesn't seem to mean jack shit anymore, and Youtube is never going to listen to its users. Why bother trying? In fact, every video I upload these days, I do in slight fear that someone is going drop a copyright bomb on me.
In case of youtube's crackdown on reviewers that had millions of subs for years and never had a problem with it?
Well The copyright issue only came out recently and Youtuber's with over a million subs ( Or the extremely famous ones ) usually help promote the site or get payed from YouTube themselves. Sorry If I'm being stupid.
We need to find a new video sharing site. Vimeo sounds niched and blip media is a cluster mess while Twitch is only for live streaming.
Know whats shit? I've had this "third party" claims on 2 of my videos, thankfully they are old ones that give me little to no income, but that's not what's pissing me off. What IS pissing me off is this. that there is my youtube income. Notice how it abruptly stops at the 8th of December. It hasn't moved since that date. I'm not getting anything now. No emails from google, nothing. so I search online to see if someone else is having this problem. Yep, apparently they do as well, same date and everything. Try to go on the link and... [t]http://i.imgur.com/qbdHyve.jpg[/t] yeah, great coincidence that 2 things related to Google are fucking up at the same time. Dicks.
Uh, this is completely normal, earning estimations have always lagged behind by 5-7 days
I dont think you get what I mean. It's been a day behind every day and it's stopped now, for no reason. It hasn't always been 5 days behind. I hope your right though. This shit they are pulling off right now, I don't know what is going to happen next.
I don't disagree that it's an issue and that the system should be made a lot more flexible in that regard.
Then I'll reiterate my question. What are you arguing in this thread other than telling everyone they're wrong?
Make a new tube
the great purge. off to gulag with you
To be fair YouTube has always said that to be able to monetize something you need 100% of the rights to it, no exceptions allowed
Most people partnered with networks like Machinima do in fact have very explicit permission. Part of their partnership contract, which is one of the reasons people are pissed off is because they've basically nullified that with these stupid changes to the system.

The thing is, none of my videos were claimed recently, and I've only had one claim overall (from Telltale Games, no less), but that was before I even got a partnership. So, most likely, the analytics are just messed up currently. Try not to worry too much about that, I guess.

This youtube money is one of the only thing going for me at the moment.

And you are right.
You're not monetizing a third parties' footage alone, you're monetizing your review which is entirely legally different.
Not alone. Yes. NOT ALONE. This goes two ways.

That's a misunderstanding. The contracts just enable "trust" in that regard.

I'm partnered with TGN and I see my monetization analytics from a third-party site called VISO Catalyst. I get the same lag-delay. [t]http://i.imgur.com/Ros4pww.png[/t]
man, i don't get any of this dumb bullshit. just because you don't 100% own the rights to the game you're playing/reviewing/whatevering doesn't mean you can't make money off of your video. do we have to buy the rights to all of the licensed clothing and products in our videos? will i have to pay toyota, adidas, levis, starbucks, apple, sony, and 324932482038432 other companies if i make a video of myself drinking coffee in my car using my phone????
So apparently TheArchFiend made a video on Angry Joe's rant [del]I kinda agree with ArchFiend.[/del]
This is where TheArchfiend gets retarded. "hurr durr youtube not job" Yes it fucking is, the definition of "Job" "Employment" and "work" all work with being a YouTube partner. "hurrr stop whining angry joe" YEAH STOP WHINING THAT YOU MIGHT STOP LOSING MONEY FROM YOUR DREAM JOB, STOP WHINING THAT SOON YOU'LL BE MAKING FUCK LOADS LESS AND MIGHT HAVE TO SELL YOUR SHIT. I'm not a huge fan of Joe but I agree 100% on this with him.
Above the debating about the copyrights and Youtube's nosedive, I just hope Angry Joe and the rest of the affected youtubers can continue to do what they do without worrying about their futures.
If you make it monetized then yes, do you know how royalties work?
Do you? Royalties tend to be a cut of the profits, not ALL OF IT.
