Sometimes when I fall asleep I am startled by a loud noise which I can't even identify in any way.
Sometimes I cant fall asleep because all I can see when I close my eyes is shapes. It feels like the windows mystify screensaver. Its so weird.
No, but I have experienced the "Half Asleep falling down stairs experience." The one where you suddenly wake up and it feels like you're falling.
This happens to make basically most of the time. Also when I'm about to fall asleep I hear a loud yelling/screaming.
I've had a similar feeling OP, except I felt like my thumb is as big as my body. It's a pretty weird feeling, but sitting their thinking about it eventually puts me to sleep.
The other day i was sleeping in study hall after a long night, and once i woke up i tried to brush away my hair and completely missed my face.
Some nights, I feel like I'm on a roller coaster right before a big drop, then it feels like I'm falling at a high speed and I'll wake up really quick. It feels weird.
Sometimes I feel like my body moves by itself, when really, it's just staying still.
Sometimes while falling asleep, I feel like I'm falling and spinning.
Yes this will sound fucked up but I'll try to explain. When lying in bed, tired as hell, nearly sleeping, you get this feeling in your body. Like you're either really small and the room is really big, or the other way around. And when you open eyes, everything is normal. What the fuck is wrong with me?
Holy shit, I'm not alone.
I get that and this;
Sometimes when I'm about to fall asleep it feels like I'm spinning.
every so often, usually only happens when I close my eyes, and it usually goes away when I think of something other than what just happened. Not really scary though.
Sometimes I even feel my boobs floating or something.
Sleep with me and I'll make sure they stay in place. :smug:

[editline]wubwubwub[/editline] When I'm about to fall asleep I'll hear a random noise right beside me and I'll freak the fuck awake sometimes.
Hypnic jerks are so awesome to get - for me atleast.
Awesome until when you wake up you hit your head on something.
sometimes i'll wake up and see a reflection of myself in the TV and freak the heck out.
I sometimes get sleep paralysis. I hear sound from my computer get higher and higher. And suddenly, I hear a dark voice saying something in Irish.
They're after me L̡̟͈͈̞͎̬̇̔̾͐ͨͫ̚U̧̼̹̙͖͍͉̥̖ͬ̿̃̂̅ͯͪ͜C͈̙̪̘̉ͣ̄͋̊͗̾͞K̶̠̜̈̑̆̊̋̉̚Y̛̭̩͙̪̬̱̾̂͆̿̍͒ͤ͌̏̕ ͓̦͔̳̪͐̈ͯ͒ͥ͑̑̆͠Ç̟̙̗̩͈͖̫͒̂̐ͮ̃̅̀H̬̖̺̠̙̬͕̭̆ͤ̈́A͓̳̺̅̆̕R̰͙͎̍̀̏͗̃ͦ͛ͮ̋́M͌̍ͭ̊͒͒҉̴̝̫͕̬̰̞͟S̲͓̲̝̮͊́

It used to scare the shit out of me when I was a kid. Something I found helps a little is putting something over your eyes, even though your eyes are already closed.
Sometimes when I'm about to fall asleep it feels like I'm spinning.
I actually love it when this happens. I've figured out that I only ever get this sensation when in a bunk bed of some kind.
yeah I get the shrinking and spinning sensation sometimes, still. I don't think it's AIWS, from what I've read o_o
I get that. I also get something where if I'm trying to stay awake while laying down I'll often hallucinate that my eyes are open. Rather odd because I'll see my room and everything and I'll be in a semi awake state and then I'll snap out of it and realize my eyes were closed.
Has anyone ever experienced sleep paralysis?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proprioception Theres your answer, no bullshit or frills.
I miss Wikipedia putting sign up saying "You should visit a real doctor yada yada"
Sometimes when I'm about to fall asleep it feels like I'm spinning.
I fucking hate this oh my god
I actually love it when this happens. I've figured out that I only ever get this sensation when in a bunk bed of some kind.
That's insane! I sleep in a bunk bed.
Sometimes, when I cross my legs, I go to sleep but then I dream that I'm falling and I wake up.
I've felt this plenty of times. Has anyone ever felt extremely tall when they're falling?
Wonderland syndrome seems to be it, thanks! Good to know I'm not alone, it's scary as fuck.
It gets so bad for me sometimes I can't close my eyes without getting this terrifying feeling. I can induce it upon myself but every time I do it scares me to shits and I remember why I hate it so much. I usually go get a drink and it passes. [editline]22nd November 2010[/editline] It induces irrational fear in me. Ambient sounds in the room like the clock ticking are amplified and are for no reason terrifying. It's difficult to explain.
I get the same thing sometimes. One time it was really bad and I couldn't stop staring at this blank point on the wall. I blacked out and then my alarm woke me up. That was a bad night for me.
I've had a lot of sleeping oddities, but never Alice in Wonderland syndrome. Sometimes I'll feel like I'm spinning, sometimes a bout of sleep paralysis, occasionally a sensation of falling before jolting awake, and even tactile hallucinations of bugs. Sleeping is hard work when you're in my shoes.
I've never had something like this, but sometimes right when I'm about to fall asleep like that, I could feel my entire body begin to vibrate. Then I would begin to hear a noise that sounds something like a rising frequency blended with the sound of an alarm clock. Within 2 seconds of this starting, I would be completely paralyzed, but it feels like my body has been placed on a massage chair set to 9001, and the noise would be absolutely deafening. Then it all just stops and my clock went ahead by 20 minutes. This happened twice within 2 days, then never again. Now that I think of it, can someone tell me what the hell happened to me? It literally felt like I died. :tinfoil:
