That is the government confiscating personal property. That money belongs to said person, not the government.
"Hey, you have a lot, so we're going to take half."
thats like saying every tax ever is taking personal property
We already have too many government programs to help poor people. If you are poor you have every chance to live a reasonable life but the sad fact is that those people are to lazy to take advantage of those programs, which landed them in that life anyway

If you live in America, we have this thing called capitalism. One of the main characteristics of capitalism is personal property.
That money is personal property. You own it, it is yours. No one else has a right to that money.
Income tax is ridiculous because it takes away from your paycheck automatically. A Federal Sales tax would be better because then you have more control over your money.

well i dont like the income tax i kinda dont like starving the poor and without it i would be on the street right now doing drugs and other things which would put me in jail making taxes raise
im sorry but as a poor person myself you have no idea what you are talking about
My family lives below the poverty line, and we do just fine.
How bout you disconnect your internet and cable before saying that you have a right to half of someone else's paycheck.
The problem I have with taxes is the fact that most of it is spent on useless stupid wars/booze parties/campaigning for re-election. If tax money was spent efficiently and almost all of it went directly into schools, roads, police departments and etc I would support high taxes. Unfortunately it doesn't and half, if not more, of the money you pay in taxes does not help you at all.
i dont see hwo your opinion could be fact but think about it, there money could be used for so much more and i would say someone that is working hard for it (that poor guy) deserves more money then what hes getting
The company that pays him doesn't agree, and if he doesn't like it he could always get a higher paying job.
If education is the problem then that's hardly the company's fault. Make additional or continued schooling easier, don't use taxes to take care of people who will never change their situation their entire lives, that is a horrible system.
im sorry but as a poor person myself you have no idea what you are talking about
I'm sorry but so far I've gathered that he is also not very rich, neither am i, i agree with him.

That's why there should be a Federal Sales tax to make up for the abolishment of Income tax.
That and give prebates to the poor (monthly money) to help pay the sales tax.

someone that does not do hard work vs someone that does and not to mention taking away his money will not really hurt him, so yea i see nothing wrong with it

I didn't really understand half of that sentence but are you seriously insinuating people who are rich don't work hard?
Jesus.
Also use punctuation, it's food for my brain rather than the poison you've been spewing.

no but they dont work as hard as the rich and yet get so much more and you can blame the spelling on the schools cast system :) without taxes my spelling would be a lot worse
no but they dont work as hard as the rich and yet get so much more and you can blame the spelling on the schools cast system :)
Still not reading you, but I'm assuming you said "they don't work as hard as the poor and yet get so much more".
You are not correct, people don't land high-paying job positions and run multi-billion dollar companies because they are lazy, if it was that easy everyone would be fucking rich.
Inheritance is another issue, but if they are a failure at maintaining the company then the company will fail as well. Thus they are no longer rich.

Citation needed my friend. Our public schooling is horrible.

Without taxes having an overall level either at what they are, or higher, then that's a good possibility. Because of huge deficit spending on frivolous bullshit along with lax taxation, our infrastructure is going to shit, and fast.

i never said it was easy but it isnt as hard in how bad the work is wise
Taxes should go to those who need it most, not into the pockets of bureaucrats.
i never said it was easy but it isnt as hard in how bad the work is wise
Right, but if schooling was better and easier to get back into they wouldn't have to work those jobs.
There is a disconnect between the poor and higher education somewhere, repair that instead of robbing people for 3/4's of their money because you declare they "don't need it".
Right, but if schooling was better and easier to get back into they wouldn't have to work those jobs.

I wonder who has this money for fixing the problem of prohibitively high costs of higher-education?
Gee, could it possibly be the rich?

well we kinda need tax money to help the schools not to mention that a poor person kinda needs money or else the kids will get addicted to drugs or something like that
everyone should send 100% of their earnings to the state
[editline]09:48PM[/editline]
the government will be clear minded and generous enough to distribute it evenly

LOL

yes we all know that once you are rich its very very easy to make money while if you are poor its hard
its kinda ironic really

This is the main problem with implementing a proper taxation scheme, internal corruption and misappropriation or simple incompetence.

I'm sorry but history disagrees with you. Schools with more money don't necessarily provide higher education and those that do provide higher education still have drop-outs and people with low scores who won't continue into college.
Later on those people will continue into low paying jobs with no chance to educate themselves further. That must be fixed, we need REAL programs to EDUCATE people if they want to learn, even if they are older individuals (I'm talking about 30s and beyond here).
The rich aren't the only people with the money, in fact, if you eliminated all the wasteful bullshit in the federal and local budgets i guarantee there would be more than ample supply to make this happen.
Then there would be no more excuses.
well we kinda need tax money to help the schools not to mention that a poor person kinda needs money or else the kids will get addicted to drugs or something like that
Once again more taxes don't always make for better schools, more motivated individuals or higher test scores.
Poor people don't need the money as much as they need a better job, just handing people money is a problem that will last the rest of their lives if nobody does anything about it.

Good programs cost money any way you look at it, and now that you're making specific claims, you need to cite some sources.
Also, by higher education I meant tertiary education, not a higher standard in secondary school, in case this wasn't clear.

the school you go to makes a difference because going to that school will make you seem better and schools in pooer areas have worse test scores, also you need money to get a good job
Maybe we should just get rid of currency and just start trading like the good ol days when the only thing that mattered was beer and hunting for water Buffalo.
I've seen a lot of bickering over this, things like "Tax the rich, they have the money, why not?" . So let's have a well thought discussion on taxing.
To me, the only fair way to go about taxes is for everyone to pay the same percentage of their funds.
percentage is retarded, this is a horrible idea.
the tiers work fine, if anything, the top tier needs to be raised more.
Maybe we should just get rid of currency and just start trading like the good ol days when the only thing that mattered was beer and hunting for water Buffalo.
people with more beer will make ways to get even more beer with the beer they have, its practically money

The U.S. compared to the rest of the world has one of the most upright governments.
