But what you're saying is that those who are very poor pay next to nothing if anything, while the very rich lose high amounts like 50%? Sounds like it's only hurting those who earned their money.
Rich lose barely anything in terms of quality of life
So yeah, they can afford to lose more

because people who are poor can't afford to pay much whereas people who are filthy rich can. someone who makes 100 dollars a week is gonna be fucked over having to pay anymore than a tiny % whereas someone who makes 100,000 a week can easily afford to pay a larger %. also you can be poor and still work hard.
i say that taxes should be proportionate to income
taxes = 0.15 * income
or something like that
more commonly known as a percentage
Lach, he was pointing out that the word anarchist means someone against their government. You said to live someone against it's government. It did not make sense because I never said I didn't want to pay taxes, quite the opposite.

This.
An "Anarchist Country"?
This is a paradox in terms.
A country implies a state, which requires political borders.
An anarchy inherently lacks a political system, and therefore borders, and could not be a country.

Rich people don't earn shit, they thrive off other's hard work.
Edit:
In response to what someone said, I'm not talking about being born into it,
I'm talking about people who work over a network of blue collar workers paying them minimum wage and reaping all the benefits.

i was using anarchist to describe the form of government for the hypothetical country. so a country with no central government where you don't have to pay taxes is what i meant.

So everyone should be made to have the same amount of money, by taking an amount from the rich that increases higher than proportion? If everyone is getting the same amount of money after taxes despite occupation, sounds like communism.
Plus the rich DO need their money, if they're investing it into their business. Of course I mean in general, not the mega corporations.

no it's not. somalia is a anarchist country.

so notch sells minecraft and makes 100K+ a day, that is not his own hard work making his own game by himself?
I can see this thread turning into a good old Communism vs Capitalism thread.
I personally think that the rich need to be taxed more and the poor given more of a break.
Tax the taxes!

look, if someone makes 1 billion dollars a year and has a 50% income tax then he still has 500 million dollars to live off! you see how when you get into that kind of income losing what might seem like huge amounts of money really doesn't mean anything?
Remove the IRS and income tax.
Institute a progressive sales tax.
the current incremental system (in Australia atleast) is pretty good. Only small tweaks (notably the rich taking more of the burden) are needed.

That's not what they're saying, what they're saying is that the rich or wealth generally can afford to lose a larger percentage of their money than the poor. If we set the tax rate flat where it would be enough to fund the government, it would have to be at least 20% which would fuck over the people who make almost nothing. If we set the tax rate low enough where the poor would still be able to live, there wouldn't be enough money for the country to operate.

But how much more? I entirely agree with that statement as is, but to tax the rich higher than something directly related to how much is earned, for example a slow exponential incline, seems like theft.
so notch sells minecraft and makes 100K+ a day, that is not his own hard work making his own game by himself?
Notch is a rare example.
Having million + dollars is more than enough to coast by as a normal person. Donate your money to places where its needed.
But yet, its your own hard earned money, so do what you will with it. But if you're making ample amounts of money, be prepared to be taxed.
Poor and Rich people do similar amounts of work.
Just of different varieties and different levels of skill.
The Rich generally have an education and do less hard labor sorts of jobs, and do the kind of jobs our economy should be trending towards.
The poor do the work that the rich needs to maitain their lifestyle. Manufacturing, cleaning, repairs, things of that sort.
Our economy should shift away from that work the poor is doing and go more towards the rich and middle class's work.
also another protip
the middle class is the ones most fucked by anything tax wise
so notch sells minecraft and makes 100K+ a day, that is not his own hard work making his own game by himself?
So tens of thousands of developers are being laid off yearly, is that because they simply weren't working hard enough?
Rich people don't earn shit, they thrive off other's hard work.
You serious dude? Jesus just looking at the thread title I thought this would be a shitstorm but I didn't expect ridiculousness of this caliber.

Picture a pyramid with blue collar workers at the bottom and white collar workers at the top.
Profit is concentrated near the top while intensity of labor is concentrated at the bottom.
It never seemed right to me.
no it's not. somalia is a anarchist country.
somalia is a sort of vagure government, but it has one. It is very chaotic, but it's not anarchist. Anarchy would be a better term, if still incorrect.

If somebody makes 1 billion dollars a year, their expenses probably cover most of that money. Giving away half of your money is stupid.
I hate the "hurr if you are rich then giving half of your money should be ok"
Its not. As a rich person, I hate the prospect of having to give away half of my income. We can barely afford staying rich in the first place.
Give me liberty or Give me death!
But how much more? I entirely agree with that statement as is, but to tax the rich higher than something directly related to how much is earned, for example a slow exponential incline, seems like theft.
You tax every dollar, not the overall income.
0-10K ~5-10%
10-35K ~15-25%
35-80K ~25-35%
80K-150K ~40-50%
150K+ ~60%
The first ten thousand dollars made would have 5-10% taken away, and then the next 25K would have 15-25% taken, etc, etc.
But how much more? I entirely agree with that statement as is, but to tax the rich higher than something directly related to how much is earned, for example a slow exponential incline, seems like theft.
I'm not sure to be honest, but more then they are now. The middle-low class is the backbone of any country and they need a break.

what are you talking about? what kind of expenses would cover most of a billion dollars?
We should go back to the barter system.
