not legalized, decriminalized. so it's not illegal to use it but it's still illegal to sell it.
Point is, 10% more people stopped using it.
In Portugal, they legalized Heroin. Usage went down 10%.
I know. And as drugs have no practical uses( like certain other luxury goods), higher taxes would be reasonable on them.
Point is, 10% more people stopped using it.
yeah when it comes to drug laws portugal is a hell of a lot smarter than most. they punish the dealers not the users and offer users the opportunity of going to a rehab clinic if they want to. i still think legalization of all drugs & taxing them would be better but whatever it's better than nothing
I know. And as drugs have no practical uses( like certain other luxury goods), higher taxes would be reasonable on them.
yes good idea lets tax heroin addicts so they steal more. brillaint. how about addicts get free drugs provided they go to therapy?
I know. And as drugs have no practical uses( like certain other luxury goods), higher taxes would be reasonable on them.
apart from the HUGE amount of medical uses that virtually all drugs have YEAH NO PRACTICAL USE
Thank you for adding precision. Also the population of the US is 300+ million.
Thank you for adding that precision. According the Census Bureau, our population is 307,006,550. But not everyone pays taxes.. which adds to our debt.
I know. And as drugs have no practical uses( like certain other luxury goods), higher taxes would be reasonable on them.
Legalize pot. Tax the shit out of it, I don't care. As long as it's legal.
(obviously doesnt apply to nonphysically addictive drugs like weed and extacy)
yes good idea lets tax heroin addicts so they steal more. brillaint. how about addicts get free drugs provided they go to therapy?
you're talking about my utopia
yes good idea lets tax heroin addicts so they steal more. brillaint. how about addicts get free drugs provided they go to therapy?
Free heroin if they goto therapy for the heroin? Hmmm. Sounds like a win win right? I'm sure MANY of them will enroll.
nobody wants high taxes america pays the lowest taxes in the world(in a first world country that is modern) yet they complain about the tiniest increase in taxes because they are dumb
:bandwagon:
I know. And as drugs have no practical uses( like certain other luxury goods), higher taxes would be reasonable on them.
watson! we've created a hand device that when fired upon the head causes extreme euphoria to the target! they'll be happy for days! better keep it secret, or the government will make it cost more depending on how long the effect is!
Thread turning into drug discussion. Timothy Leary was right.
Free heroin if they goto therapy for the heroin? Hmmm. Sounds like a win win right? I'm sure MANY of them will enroll.
im assuming the therapy works and also tried to lean them off the drug by giving them less and less or whatever. they could also just lock em up for a month to get over the whole addiction thing, inhumane as it may be, then provide them with a means to get back on their feet.
Yeah innovation is the devil.
there's no reason to innovate where innovation is not needed while so many other things need innovating
Legalize pot. Tax the shit out of it, I don't care. As long as it's legal.
Tax the shit out of it? That would hinder the performance of the tax, and will keep the business still conducted off the books. Its like this, sell a pencil for 25cents or sell it for a dollar. You'll gain more 1 pencil for a dollar, however your client base will decline or will seek other alternatives. Sell it for a low price, you'll see a increase in client base, a smaller but more progressive income and people won't seek for alternatives, because they are happy. This applies to tax as well. Cigarettes used to pull in about $6B in taxes (in my state). But people are getting fed up, and are seeking alternatives. Either by quitting, loopholes, or purchasing out of state. Tetracycline; You never answered my question. If you're becoming a doctor, you are doing this for this for the noble profession, or for greed? Makes perfect sense. People fail to realize that government is a necessary evil in society, they aren't here to do you good and they aren't here to give you free shit. Sure, giving billions to a Democrat-owned congress seems good now but what happens when the next GOP majority rolls around and they decide its high time abortion should be make illegal, or maybe that you don't really need public schooling, after all or maybe that there should be a bible in every home. Or maybe that Iran is a little too smug and deserves to be blown off the map preemptively? Fucking lunacy. No matter how insane that sounds it is entirely within their scope to harass the shit out of Tax-paying Americans for any reason they deem necessary. That is not good government.

Thread should be called "taxation, and my views on what poor people should pay" also, not to derail here, but finally, kybalt has an un-shitty avatar.
:tinfoil:
yep, s0beit is clearly paranoid for citing factual information
Who said anything about only having 1 party. Have no parties or thousands of parties.
:tinfoil:
It would be a tinfoil hat situation if we didn't face things like race-based laws, censorship of television, internet and radio and didn't have to constantly keep them off our backs all the time. Remember that majority in this country is only temporary, all of those resources will be available to the next hitler, the next stalin, and don't think for one fucking second that can't be your country because you'd be fucking stupid.
