Think of it like this: If this is all a simulation of some kind, then it's a multiplayer simulation. There are other people playing too and thinking the same thing every now and then. [editline]06:00PM[/editline] Kinda like the Matrix
My dad reckons that we're all just the thoughts of one being - god. He wrote a book about it, The Thoughts of God, but it's out of print. (And would probably get banned in Texas)
I used to think about this when I was 7, a couple of years before the Matrix came out. I thought everyone was just a robot that's programmed to interact with me :tinfoil:
You may want to read Bertrand Russell's "problems of philosophy"
and maybe chuck in some Descartes for good measure too, his ideas on the idioms of knowledge, whilst flawed would provide the OP with a decent base to further his interests in discovering whether we are all real or not.
Everyone is secretly a robot and you are the last Human on Earth. We are doing tests on you to see how you interact with others. This is also a test, to see if you really believe me or not.
either a: He's stressed and needs a way to remind himself that his problems are insignificant, or not even real
Which in effect, is quite useful for reducing the capacity of overwhelming problems.
Now as my dad used to say "if I punched you in the face, is it real?" I'm pretty sure it is. But if you still think your in some simulator like the matrix, please ask the man on the first reply.
What makes a game less real than the world we live in?
The only thing i know for certain is that nothing is certain. But I can describe myself as a thinking thing. The very fact that i think means these thoughts have to be conjured from somewhere. I think, therefore I am. -Descartes.
Which in effect, is quite useful for reducing the capacity of overwhelming problems.
You really need to grow up.
You really need to grow up.
So, one is supposed to over encumber themselves with problems rather than to seek a way for reducing them?
If I stab you, you will realistically die. Besides, I could say the same thing for you. How do I know you are real.
Is this turning into some mass suicide thread?
What if OP is a robot thats making me think that there are really other people like me who question the world, but really its the machine trying too convince me otherwise !?!?!?!
Are we human... or are we dancer? ERROR:.EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN MODE. ALTERING. PROCESSING. INITIALIZING. STATUS CODE: HFO7. The shrink will be with you in a moment. But I think that too, which disproves your theory.
No! This thread was just here to convince me otherwise! You're all robots! I'm not crazy!
Well, he figured us all out.
why did these thoughts come up and why must all humans try to explain everything if it works why try to figure it out

Indeed.....
I dont personally think the same as the op but i know what he is getting at.
If anyone wants to think about whether or not they are real then think about this. Everything is limited to the speed of light right? and the measurable distance of the edge of the known universe is due to it being the furthest light can possible have traveled since the start of the universe. If you are created then all this would mean that an electronic universe would have to be created. They would have had to create a universe that big and this is impossible. Why? because they couldn't have sent an electronic projection that far. There are loads of other things like this that i can think of. At any rate, if anyone starts to doubt whether or not they mean anything then think about this. It helps believe me. From the start of the universe, a series of highly unlikely events (atoms splitting, rejoining up and so on) have led to the elements being formed. In this the suns have been formed. Skip ahead and the earth was formed, it is in just the right fucking position for complex life to evolve. all your ancestors have coupled together and evolved from the simplest single celled life forms and have eventually led to you. This makes you so very much improbable, yet you are still here. That makes you, and everyone for that matter so very fucking special. You are all of you so special. Think about that and feel good about the fact that you are here.
Go up to a girl and stare into her face and say; 'What the fuck are you doing, robot scUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMM?' You will see stars I swear [editline]06:03PM[/editline]
If anyone wants to think about whether or not they are real then think about this. I'm still trying to figure out what this has to do with politics.
Recently, over the past few months - a concept that has embedded deeply into the roots of my mind, has over shadowed my beliefs in reality. I no longer believe that other people exist other than me and feel that I'm merely in a form of simulator, dream or physical environment in which everyone (including all other entities that appear self-conscious) are merely pseudo self-aware entities. I also feel that this could be some kind of game in which everything - the environment - is autonomous but features additional plug-in points from which I can provide input. I'm wondering if anyone can prove to me that they actually exist against the above conditions and can also give me absolute proof that they're not scripted and exist as an actual self.
I'll break your arm, then you can say whether i and everyone else exists.
We should have another song, like we did with Bohemian Rhapsody. That made this thread interesting for a bit.
No your right, we're all dead!
Oh what do you know you're just some text on my screen.
What makes a game less real than the world we live in?
The fact that games are not real, and are just a bunch of pixels changing colors on your screen
You're not real. The fact you made this thread was simply the watchers trying to make me think that other people are real by making it seem like they think the same way as I do. But I know better.
And you are one of those watchers, making me think other people are real
