Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction...
It might be possible that everyone you know, isn't real, but just a story in your mind.
Yes, i did ponder this.
I was thinking along the lines of right now i am picturing me, walking home with my friend from school, but whose to say he isnt a figment of my imagination? He could be someone on another planet, having the exact same vision i am having. What if everyone we know and love/hate is just imaginary? What if the person im talking to isnt there, but is infact in another dimension, living their life how they want to. They may never have even heard of Earth.
Im afraid now :ohdear:
Fall in love and you'll think otherwise
Recently, over the past few months - a concept that has embedded deeply into the roots of my mind, has over shadowed my beliefs in reality. I no longer believe that other people exist other than me and feel that I'm merely in a form of simulator, dream or physical environment in which everyone (including all other entities that appear self-conscious) are merely pseudo self-aware entities. I also feel that this could be some kind of game in which everything - the environment - is autonomous but features additional plug-in points from which I can provide input.
I'm wondering if anyone can prove to me that they actually exist against the above conditions and can also give me absolute proof that they're not scripted and exist as an actual self.
You've been cramped in your computer chair for a bit too long.
Go outside and look around, take a breath and hear all the sounds, look at all the people. Now tell me truthfully, is it worth debating this? You're looking too far in to it and making yourself miserable, thinking you're alone. If there's no way to prove or disprove it, play along.
Also, if we are all pseudo entities, what are you going to do about it? Kill yourself? What if killing yourself kills the simulation, or your existence runs the simulation?
Have you heard of Solipsism? Of course not, because you don't exist
Am I the only one who remembers a thread EXACTLY like this one a few years back?
Déjà vu...
Time to visit a shrink, buddy.

Well as many said, let me killl you, I can assure you that we all will still live happily after that.
I heard somewhere that some religion believes that when we die, we are put into a large room. There are tvs, games, newspapers, books, whatever we want to interest our self until someone is born, and we are put into their body.
I dont think it was one of those Eastern Religions, like Buddhism or Hinduism, but i see the similarities.
All i can say, i hope it has Tetris.
That's a pretty random philosophy

all glory to the hypno toad
It doesn't matter whether it's real. Just enjoy it while it lasts, who knows if one day you'll wake up from this "simulation" and the next world isn't as good as you thought it'd be.

I like what this guy is saying
SENTiNELS!

I hope its true. I dont want to fade into darkness when i die.
Anyone else think at least it is a fantasy world where you live in a first world country with access to education, clean water, food and the internet and not some nightmare and OP should quit whining and enjoy the delusion? People pay good money to hallucinate. OP's getting it free on account of paranoid delusion.
Well just think of all the other stuff that is happening that does not affect you directly or indirectly.
unless it is there to make it feel like everyone is real...
:tinfoil:
I thought this.

You wouldn't fade into darkness, you'd just cease to exist and think.

Your idea is probably pretty common; at least I have had similar thoughts on multiple occasions. However, it does not matter. I don't really care if life is just some kind of a game. It's still the only life I know. If this really is a game, though, then do provide me with instructions on how to manipulate it.
I really wish I could conclusively prove you that human beings are self-conscious and self-aware, but I'm not really sure of that, myself. You could just be a product of my mind, of the part that asks this from myself.
Although I'm not sure if my mind could've created everything on the internets. So I'm fairly sure this is not a dream or my imagination. If it's a simulator, who cares?
