they still do a lot of vfx tech research, but a lot of it gets made into proprietary tech. sometimes new stuff gets released and sometimes rhings get made public at the end of their lifespans like renderman.
Yeah that shit's cool too. The sand stuff they developed for Moana is nuts. But still not quite the same as "we're going to space, motherfuckers" in 1955, with operation paperclip's finest to hand.
Hopefully we post enough space content to revitalise the space race, can you imGine if fp helped to restart the space race?

Shot Fig of Operation Hardtack was a test of the W51/W54 warhead used in the Davy Crocket recoilless rifle and Special Atomic Demolition Munition. It was the last test fired at Enewetak Atoll.

Since the east, and space travel have been getting brought up a lot here as of late.
The Soviets had a real penchant for music that highlighted the technological achievements of the times, with space travel being at the forefront of it all. Probably the most clear example would be the unofficial anthem of their cosmonautics program.

It's really quite moving, and perfectly captures the hopes and dreams that many no doubt shared as the earliest satellites and first men took to the skies. Hell, Putin knows the song as well, and even helped a student sing it!

All this talk about the Race for Space reminds me of the great concept album of the same name by Public Service Broadcasting.
If only we put all that money investing in war into space and medicine...

LWP propaganda from the 1950s
It's strange to see communist propaganda make use of feudal history as a positive.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, especially historic nostalgia where you can make up whatever you want regarding the past after you've gotten of the historians.
"The Kiev Rus were always fighting for the proletariat"
My fave will always be:
"We are the progeny of the Teutonics; our noble birthright is to conquer and enlighten the world as these noble Indis did"
"oh btw exterminate the Romani"

Oval table that is 2018mm long and 1953mm wide, as in pretty much a circle? The picture looks like it's more than twice as long as it is wide. Very confusing.
Not to mention that 2018mm is 201cm or 6.6ft which I feel like would be a much smaller table
