That would actually be fucking amazing. I wish more people would come up with ways to reuse old plastic/metal waste besides melting them down again/art

The underlying reason may be the fact that in Finland, we recycle plastic bottles.
Then looking at these dumb-fucks use this ridiculous tool to shred these bottles is just.. I would just make a noose from all the bottles, and then hang myself from it.
Other than that, it's also the choice of music, and this whole "Humans are Awesome" bullshit which is basically written all over it. I'm not buying it.

How is using these plastic bottles for ropes, which as shown in the video can be used for a variety of things, not recycling?
As for the music, I guess that's just a preference, can't really argue one way or another for that.

It is technically recycling, although I have this scratch in my asshole that most of these shredded bottles are going to end up in the trash and/or burned all the same.
Plus I doubt that people who buy this tool are even going to use it that much. Maybe once or twice, then forget about it.
[editline]27th April 2016[/editline]
Also, you are still left with the cut off bottom part of the bottle, which is not recycled in the process..
Not to mention that plastic rope seems pretty annoying to work with if the bottle is made from thicker and less flimsy plastic.

Or, what if, and bear with me now, what if they recycle the rope and bottle top when they're done with it??

Bottle top..?
Oh right, the tool probably doesn't shred the bottle top either. So we are left with the bottle top and the bottle bottom. Plus the god damned rope.
So, what if they did recycle all of it after all? Like, all the shit considered? After all the shredding and making rope out of plastic bottles while laughing and smiling with your friends and family? Then.. I don't know. I think that's a horrible image.

What the hell? You're talking about this like most people talk about serial rapists and murderers. Like seriously, is this just a cultural thing I'm not understanding? Do you lot literally never reuse old bottles and trash and such in any way other than just sending it to a recycling center? I dunno about you guys but around here we like to make art out of our bottles, as well as recycling them. It's not like when you shred a dozen bottles with this tool it affects anything on any kind of global scale, plus it makes people happy in a creative way. This is something that should be celebrated, not reviled.
Or to put it in other words, would you rather people not make this:

Also lol sorry, I didn't even mean this to get so carried out, although it has been fun.
Of course we do art out of garbage as well. And no, it's not really just a cultural thing, although we are very active turning in bottles, don't think everyone would react the same to this.. tool.

You have no evidence either way if people will always use this or not use it. And there is nothing to prevent htem from recycling bottles they don't use. There is no mandate to never recycle bottles ever again once this tool is purchased.

Explain why it's impossible to recycle the left over scraps of the top and bottom of the bottle?

Then get another bottle? You can use literally anyone you prefer, for any project you desire.
I keep the bottles and either turn them in myself, or I give them to charity organizations and such when they walk around collecting bottles to turn in.

I remember something like this being posted before under the idea that it was like a chunk of what is left over from excess paint from painting cars in a factory.

There is no evidence whether people will use it or not, or how popular it's going to be. I just expressed doubt and some concerns.
Also ofc there is no mandate to never recycle bottles again once this tool is purchased, and no it's not impossible to recycle (the remaining) plastic either. It's not impossible to recycle shit.
Anyways, I just found the video and their approach to be quite naive, in respect to the scale of the "problem", i.e. people not recycling their plastics properly around the world. I can imagine this is a visible problem around some U.S. states, where the infrastructure fails to offer convenient recycling options. Just a hunch though, and not like it's exclusive to Americans.
But you know, if that Kickstarter project is going to make people recycle their plastics better, and make the world a cleaner place, then good job I guess? We'll see about that.

Actually, it's exclusive to everyone BUT Americans.
The United States and Argentina are the only nations in the world that this cannot be exported to because of patent issues. So your concerns over the US not recycling correctly with regards to this is pretty much void.
And there's a difference between expressing "doubt and some concerns" and "this makes me angry".
It says it can be shipped anywhere in the world.. And I wasn't even talking about the exclusivity of the tool itself. Now fuck this. Just fuck it.
The street plan and distinctive appearance of central Paris, France is largely due to the vast public works program commissioned by Emperor Napoléon III and directed by Georges-Eugène Haussmann, between 1853 and 1870.
