UP80, one of 56 gas turbine-electric locomotives(GTEL) built by the Alco-General Electric and later just General Electric for Union Pacific between January 1952-June 1961. The third generation of these locomotives possessed the most powerful prime movers in any North American locomotive with just single one producing over 8,500 HP and Union Pacific claimed that they carried more than 10% of it's freight. [T]http://www.railpictures.net/images/d2/9/8/7/6987.1438312996.jpg[/T] The A unit(front) contained the control cab and an auxilary diesel engine, the B unit(second) carried the turbine and the main generators which provided the electricity to the traction motors on both it and the A unit while a tender carried the fuel. Their main drawback however was their fuel consumption which was twice as much as a equally powerful diesel engine which was led to their eventual retirement in the late 60s. Today only two examples of these locomotives exist UP26 which is on display at the Utah State Railroad Museum in Ogden, Utah and UP18 which is located at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois while some of the tenders have been recycled to serve as water tenders for steam locomotives including UP844 and later UP4014 and 3985. I also heard they generated so much heat that they could melt the asphalt on overpasses if they were parked under it. A locomotive sized diesel will do 45 to 50%.

EMD could not successfully modify the SD70ACe's 2-stroke 710 series prime mover to be Tier 4 compliant, thus rendering the current Tier 3 compliant EMD SD70ACe illegal to build for use in the United States. EMD has continued building Tier 3 SD70ACes for Ferromex (4100-4118) at Bombardier's Ciudad Sahagun,Mexico plant. These locomotives are restricted to Mexico-only operation and cannot cross the US border (just as Canadian National's newest Tier 3 GE ES44AC's are restricted to Canadian use only). 2014 was the final year of EMD producing SD70ACe's powered by the 710 series 2-stroke engines for use in the USA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EMD_SD70_series#SD70ACe

Newly announced lens from Venus Optics: It's a 2:1 macro lens for getting up close to creatures that are more shy or some shit. (f/14 though, so you'll be needing plenty of light) Looks pretty wacky v:v:v
It looks really expensive.
It looks like a star wars prop
They've been around for a while, they're called snorkel / periscope lenses They're used for filming angles you physically can't get a camera into [editline]24th September 2016[/editline] And yes they're ludicrously expensive :v:
How the hell do you keep something like that steady, it seems like the tiniest motion of your hand would ruin the photo
How the hell do you keep something like that steady, it seems like the tiniest motion of your hand would ruin the photo
You don't. You need at the very least a monopod, if not a tripod.
