[t]http://i.imgur.com/OtI58AV.png[/t] I am sorry about the horrid projection, this is the best I could find
I thought Czechs were mostly non-religious?
It's a weird polar projection in that case. South America and Africa are way too far apart radially (or I guess azimuthally? I dunno lmao). I guess it's a polar projection that doesn't show actual land area now that I think of it. Just a regular map turned polar.
On further inspection, it looks like a Dymaxion map, not a polar projection.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/OtI58AV.png[/t] I am sorry about the horrid projection, this is the best I could find
I thought Christianity was the second biggest religion in South Korea? Christians constitute about a third of the population there (and strangely enough it's been steadily growing)
"second largest religious group"
Indeed, which is why I wouldn't expect them to be purple on that map. [editline]20th May 2016[/editline] Also I'm not sure how the map draws the line between "ethnoreligionist" and "other". Wouldn't the Chinese folk religion(s) fall under ethnic religions rather than "other" for instance?

A google maps of ancient cities would be sweet.

446 years ago today, Abraham Ortelius published "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum", or the first modern atlas
Babylon (from what we can gather)
Out of curiousty, I found the location of Babylon on Google Maps to see what remained. [t]http://i.imgur.com/KfaFzuQ.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/T7Ijni1.jpg[/t] Same place, same(ish) perspective. The big spiral thing is one of Saddam's Palace's, and it looks like a good part of the ancient city has been turned into a makeshift military base. With helicopters and vehicles parked about. For those that want to poke around: https://goo.gl/maps/ovmeia1ZAiR2 [editline]20th May 2016[/editline] I'm not sure how much is original, and how much is recreation. [editline]20th May 2016[/editline]
446 years ago today, Abraham Ortelius published "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum", or the first modern atlas
Did he connect Australia to Antarctica? Oh wait he's got Australia as Antarctica.
446 years ago today, Abraham Ortelius published "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum", or the first modern atlas
You know, considering that maps were primarily meant to make everything easy to see back then, this is a pretty fucking accurate map. Sure, by modern standards, it's awful, but most adults probably couldn't draw Eurasia and Africa from memory to that level of accuracy.

It was thought that if the participants would have to carry all of their weapons at once, it would help even out their skill levels (the irony is of course that fechtbuchs like these contained systems for winning such duels anyway) from a section on wrestling.
446 years ago today, Abraham Ortelius published "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum", or the first modern atlas
Didn't realize THAT much of the Antarctic has melted :v:
[vid]http://i.imgur.com/ZSRNw5H.webm[/vid]
I don't know why but this is reminding me of Trump. Like I can imagine him going on a racist rant about how immigrants are all rapists, then someone starts gently combing his hair and he goes all docile.
Did they put makeup on that monkey?
446 years ago today, Abraham Ortelius published "Theatrum Orbis Terrarum", or the first modern atlas
Other than the poles, America and Australia, this really isn't that far off tbh.
[t]https://dl.wdl.org/14438.png[/t] Edo period map of Hokkaido given to a German* doctor, smuggled out before the Meiji restoration. The man connected to giving the map to the doctor was executed for treason. Some 50 people were also charged with doing business with foreigners but were simply given harsh prison sentences/fines. *[sp]Ethnicity, Germany had yet to be a union[/sp]

The above post caused me to go on a streak on Wikipedia and I found this thing: [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f3/Aero_Spacelines_377SGT_Super_Guppy_Turbine%2C_Airbus_Skylink_AN0592517.jpg[/t] [t]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/6e/Super_Guppy_N941_NASA_landing_%28crop%29.jpg/1920px-Super_Guppy_N941_NASA_landing_%28crop%29.jpg[/t] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_Spacelines_Super_Guppy This has to be the most retarted looking airplane I've ever seen.
You mean the best airplane, right? You could fit so much shit in that
it looks like somebody pinched the tip of it lol
