Wankel engine
what did you just call me
Is it pronounce 'wænkel' or 'wonkel' (as in 'want')
Wank, as in to jerk off.
Is it pronounce 'wænkel' or 'wonkel' (as in 'want')
It's pronounced "Apex Seals". :eng101:

Is there just a counterweight on a common shaft with a directly balanced COG or

I imagine all of the actually useful modules would've been impossible to make that small / affordable back then to make it worth releasing I think we only ever owned a single device that used memory stick, then everyone moved to SD cards [editline]25th July 2017[/editline] I wonder how much R&D money Sony sinks into new formats that die off immediately

Their optical disk archives look pretty solid Kinda like LTO tapes, but using stacks of optical disks instead of tape, so it's actually feasible to randomly access data And holy shit the drives look sexy

Magnetic tape is too subject to rot, even nice stuff. It's temperature and UV sensitive. If you really want to store it long term with no data loss, you have to take special precautions like any other sensitive storage media. Hell, I have pulled tapes that have been stored perfectly fine since the early 90s and they aren't even readable.

The Gen 2 disks can read at 2Gbps but they currently only offer a 3.3TB write-once casette for $180
I hope this qualifies for auxiliary pics. I wanted to share it here on FP, but making a tattoo thread solely to show off my new tattoo doesn't seem like the best idea [thumb]http://i.imgur.com/JYJ7nmN.jpg[/thumb] Me and my brothers, I'm the middle. The white ink will be very faint once it heals up proper. Yes, the line art looks a bit bad, but it'll never be perfect at all times because of the skin stretching, and this was taken the day after we took it, so there was some swelling too. Give it a few more weeks to heal properly
That's a pretty neat idea if you ask me.

Maximum capacity per tape was 200gb and used the same form factor and transport mechanism as Betacam SP but with higher grade tapes.

I also have in SDIO format a camera and an 802.11b network adapter. SDIO is basically the competing non-Sony standard for devices that worked in Secure Digital card slots. Cameras, GPS, bluetooth, wireless cards etc. Remember how people used to tout that an entire encyclopedia set could fit on one CD-ROM? In the Palm/Windows Mobile days you could buy the same encyclopedia set but in SD-ROM format.
I found a 32mb SD card the other day. The scale of the difference in capacity in the same footprint between it and my 64gb SD card amazes me.
I think I've got my first flash drive lying around somewhere. It was 64mb and very clunky.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/Sx4hLWb.jpg[/t] Saw a cicada killer for the first time today. Biggest fucking wasp I've ever seen. Didn't mind me being there in the slightest, just wrestled with this fat bastard of a cicada and hauled it off after a little while. After doing some research, apparently these huge motherfuckers are non aggressive to humans and don't even mind being handled gently. Scared the shit out of me though.
Even knowing it wouldn't be offended by my presence, there's nothing that could get me to not run from that sight.
Even knowing it wouldn't be offended by my presence, there's nothing that could get me to not run from that sight.
Personally I would've killed it. But then I've always had atrocious luck with wasps to begin with. Assholes commonly sting me totally unprovoked. I'm usually not even aware they're around before they do.

If you start wrangling with that thing you are an idiot, you aren't gonna kill that thing easily considering it wears chitin armor, and I'm pretty sure they become aggressive towards humans when you attack.
