this is the control console of the largest musical instrument in the world, and unless ancient druids pulled some weird shit, quite possibly the largest in the history of mankind: the monster machine that is the pipe organ built into the Boardwalk Hall arena, Atlantic City, New Jersey
[t]http://meetacphoto.s3.amazonaws.com/galleries/EmptyBasketball.jpg[/t][t]http://www.vosizneias.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/Historic-Organ-Restor_sham-3.jpg[/t][t]https://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townnews.com/pressofatlanticcity.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/d/54/d54316e1-ea58-5356-b768-57a4f5f85655/522a4384b18bc.image.jpg[/t]
in the big picture you can see the console chamber right of the main stage; last pic shows the circuitry of the console's rear
the extraordinary size of the hall required an extraordinary instrument, and so in 1929 the company tasked with building the organ decided that rather than make a separate instrument and install it, it would be more feasible to quite literally build the thing into the building itself - the pipe systems surround the hall in eight chambers, the large arched windows at the far end cover two of them. the longest pipes are 64 ft tall.

it hasn't been completely functional since a hurricane struck in 1944, and over the long years its systems have suffered from degradation and stuff like careless construction workers. it's currently undergoing restoration, and it'll take several more years before it's fully functional again
the organ has something like 33,100+ pipes, a number that has been reduced and increased again over time
the machine has so many "organ stops" (pipe sets that can be shut off from the air flow to alter the sound) that they have their own list article on Wikipedia
it holds Guinness World Records for largest pipe organ, largest musical instrument and loudest instrument ever
basically this thing is metal as all fuck and i want to play it
Pipe organs are incredible. You get an idea of how merely entering a cathedral could make one religious in the middle ages when you hear one live. The sound was otherworldly in those days.
I wished someone would make some 40kish looking organ. Or like the one in Pirates of the Caribbean

any baroque/gothic church pipe organ is already quite Warhammer-ish
all they need is a shitton of skull and eagle motifs

That's not an organ, that's a cockpit. There is no way that that thing doesn't control some sort of giant superweapon.
There is no way that that thing doesn't control some sort of giant superweapon.
the thing is so loud i'm pretty sure there's some way to weaponize it
Well, they did it, the 1:1 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam statue transforms. Mostly. They skipped a bunch of stuff like the backpack and half the head transformation because that would require it to move up and rotate, but it's mostly there.

I just started laughing uncontrollably when I saw it because I instantly imagined a knight sitting at a kitchen table using it like a flail to try and like impale food to eat. I now want it just to try eating like that in public places.

In 2009 I took my camcorder to NASS Festival, UK. I didn't really have an aim of what I was going to do with it but I heard CKY were performing and there was going to be a mega-ramp.
I got to the ramp halfway through a competition, a 13 year old lad was decimating it, I didn't know much about BMX'ing but I recognised Tail-whips and Flairs from Matt Hoffmans Pro BMX.
Camera in hand, which I had no idea how to use, I filmed what I could in the "High FPS" setting, put some incredibly loud music on it and uploaded it to YouTube for archiving.
That 13 year old was Nicholai Rogatkin.

I love picture of New York trains that were covered in graffiti. New York also tried to stop the vandals by painting the trains white

But the artists just used the new all white trains as a new canvas

Yeah it also costs a lot of money to clean all of it off too and the cleaning process also requires that the trains be taken out of service which costs the railroads even more money.
Couldn't they just cover the trains in a removable film that they change every once in a while? Seems cheaper than having to clean/repaint it.

The issue would then come down to application of said film and also the aspect of pollution. If it is plastic and you're covering each cart you're going to find yourself with a crap ton of plastic that is bulky without anywhere for it to really go.
It would probably be more expensive considering application, creation, waste removal AND it would be bulky as it would need a bit of thickness to do the job properly.

I'd have thought the problem would be people yanking it off and then doing the graffiti.

Use a hydrophobic coating.
Also needs to be reapplied every now and then tho.
