Yea no. You gotta remember the context. If I posted pictures of nazis playing with jewish kids, wouldn't you think its bullshit?
As with that picture, I can't verify the authenticity, but it smells of propaganda.
My grandmother got tortured to shit by the fucking Japanese soldiers, my great grandpa was an KMT official, and they wanted to know where he was hiding. So they decided to force my grandma to become a child slave, used water torture on her, and rubbed chilies into her open wounds. She was a kid, and they showed no mercy.
She's just one of the few who survived the war, but there were so many more who suffered way worse.
My grandfather (on my dad side) brother left home one day and never came back. The Japanese just decided he looked of military age and should be shot with many others.

So you're saying none of the good acts happened because of all the bad things they did? Similarly, all stories of WW1 soldiers from opposing fronts coming together on Christmas day are false, it must all be propaganda.

Jesus fucking christ.
'Yeah look I know that millions died painful, torturous deaths, and countless other mutilated and raped, but please think about the time a few of them played with children!'
Nobody is trying to say that every individual person involved in the atrocities was 'literally Hitler' as you put it. In fact, I'm sure those soldiers had loads of fun playing with the children, and playing during Christmas, and after those moments, they went right back to killing each other on the battlefield, and committing countless unspeakable atrocities to civilians and prisoners, and if they didn't, the army or the government that they were loyal to still ensured that it was undertaken. The thing about history and the atrocities that occurred during the wars, especially those which still affect us today, is that it doesn't matter about individual soldiers. It doesn't matter if every individual was literally Hitler or not, because you don't need to be literally Hitler for these things to happen, you just need to follow orders. Every time something about these atrocities comes up on these forums, you seem to be eager to defend those involved in the atrocities, and even if you weren't trying to defend them, this post reads pretty much like you actually are.
Now I don't mean to speak for Ignhelper, but it's pretty disgusting of you to dismiss the lived experience of his family just so that you can try to make yourself seem smart about history.

I never mentioned that all soldiers are lifeless puppets, nice job putting words in my mouth.
There is a difference between the xmas truce and pictures of soldiers with civilians in occupied territories.
The Japanese soldiers at that time had immense hatred for the chinese, all because the govt at that time preach about how superior they are to the other races. Likewise, I will really doubt photos involving Korean civilians, Polynesians, but maybe not for photos with Indians and Burmese, because they were siding with each other often in the name of Independence.
Likewise, I will question a picture's authenticity if it shows pictures of SS or high ranking nazi officials playing or smiling with jewish civilians/soldiers/polish soldiers etc. because of the amount of hatred spread by the ruling governments of that time. There is enough evidence to question them because the pictures shown are far from the realities of what atrocities were recorded being committed on the ground, so it is possible to evaluate that these were meant as propaganda purposes, to calm the population 'Oh we are your friends!'
And as for the Xmas truce or other truces, there are real soldiers account of what happened, and they have to verify it with their commanding officers usually. And, the difference was that, in WW1, soldiers on both side didn't see a point in the war, and culturally, Europe at that time was closer to one another. So given the evidence from the soldiers, and context of what was going on during the war, you can know that it was an actual event and not staged.
Now, bring it to current day, with the rohingya issues. The Myanmar government is constantly evading the term, and telling the world that they are dealing with pockets of resistance, and that the soldiers are helping the situation, but when you look at the mass migration of refugees, how much of it sounds truthful?

You know, it's kinda weird how you always empathize with cops and white collar criminals when they're quite clearly in the wrong yet show absolutely no empathy when someone makes a completely logical statement like his was. To put it bluntly, it makes you look like a completely repulsive person. It reflects extremely poorly on your personal character.

Thank you. I know I didn't make a nice post, it wasn't meant to be one either. Thankfully, I couldn't care less about what you think of it, since you didn't really bother to read it either. "Every time something about these atrocities comes up on these forums, you seem to be eager to defend those involved in the atrocities, and even if you weren't trying to defend them, this post reads pretty much like you actually are." And every time I say how terrible the bad things were that happened, but that you shouldn't compare it with other events. This here is a bit different though, since comparing it to what happened at Nanking makes such a strong contrast. Outright saying that this picture must be propaganda is almost as disgusting as denying the crimes committed during that war. Who would it be propaganda for? Japan? The government that was trying to convince it's people that the enemy is lesser than them? They wouldn't want to show anything like this.
It's extremely ignorant to dismiss these photos because they shed a different light on the situation. Similarly you've got photos of Nazi soldiers playing with kids. That doesn't mean a major part of the soldiers were actually this friendly. It shows just what it shows. A handful of people doing something. Not an army.
