Sometimes a few years ago I would sit down and enjoy a nice beer. Didn't matter if I was with friends or not, it was just something I occasionally did and I turned out fine. When alcohol is not for the purpose of getting drunk, I think underage drinking isn't that big of a problem.
I have no problem with it as long as they don't binge drink to a point where they just stumble around around their house all day drooling and being fucking stupid.

Underage drinking only exists because of the law. However, there are loopholes within it to allow for minors to consume. These are the only two I know of because I grew up around it.
Minnesota: A minor can lawfully drink underage if they are on private property, have consent of their parents, and the parents are there supervising.
Wisconsin: A minor can lawfully drink at a bar as long as their parent buys the alcohol and gives consent for the minor to drink.
Do I think that the age of 21 is high? Not really. I think that alcohol should be restricted to those in high school, but open to those who have graduated. (Apx age of 19). By the time you're in college your peers have already had alcohol at least once before in their life and probably have contacts to get more. If you arent being destructive, belligerent, or bellicose I dont see why you shouldnt be allowed to drink. Its your life after high school, live it the way you want to.

What's your opinion on foreigners and drink laws?
E.g. I've been of legal age here in the UK for nearly 2 years now, out of high school for 3, but I wouldn't be able to drink in the US for over a year.
no it damages your brain cells and fucks you up and eventually you just get like frozen and cant think at all i forgot what they call it i hate how people think this is a society where they can do whatever they feel like
I know a girl who was a chronic alcoholic for a good chunk of her life. She's only 15 now, but she seems to function just fine.
it gets to you when your brain has developed fully

I dont have one. I accept that things are done different in different places.
I'm 19. I've been drinking occasionally since age 14.
At age 19 now, I drink occasionally and smoke weed daily. (I own a house though so it's technically legal for me to drink on my own property in the US)
I make 5 grand a month, generally consider myself to be a smart guy, and I'm physically fit as well.
Drugs don't mess you up, that's all on you if you let it happen in my opinion.
(I haven't read the thread, just the OP)

Not related at all but how do you own a house at 19 and make 5 grand a fucking month, dude? I'm 18 and not even out of my house and yet to have a real job.

Saved money when I worked in HS, and now I work as a DSL tech and make about $13-15 an hour, plus about $1800 from renters who live in my house

Not really brotha.
Don't have habits you can't afford. Don't do drugs if you're prone to addiction.
This is bullshit...
No it is not bullshit.
If drugs universally "messed you up", regardless of the person, there would be no one who could manage a successful drug habbit.
Obviously, we have musicians and the entertainment industry as well as wall street to prove that being a functional addict is not only possible, it's common.
I'm legally able to drink next weekend >:)
