I was smart and bought an Xbox 360 Elite.
I've never had a RRoD for the whole time I had it which is about 2 years.
I've had my Xbox360, Premium console, for just over 2 years, the only time it got the RROD is when we got a power surge, but after a quick reset, it ran just fine.
Why have people rated him dumb, he has a very SOLID and good point.
My friend reflows 360's for a living. It's actually surprisingly profitable.
Anyone who gets an RRoD just isn't looking after it right. Playing it for hours on end and overheating it, knocking it over while it's on, anything like that. It's a fragile console. But leave it alone and it's fine.
Wrong

Oh, and I reckon OP has some truth behind it.
I just sent mine back to microsoft and they fixed it and gave me silver xbox live!
That's the Best membership ever! :buddy: :buddy: :buddy:
You're new to the concept of capitalism.
It's called planned obsolescence. There's no conspiracy about it, companies and manufacturers haven been getting away with it for years. They are right now and probably always will.
Fine if you've got the money to fork out for another 360, but most people haven't got a couple of ton to spare.
(Ton = Slang for £100)
Same thing for me.
Yall got ripped off then. I sent mine in cause of a display problem, and they sent me a free month of xbox live gold. :D
I've had my Xbox 20GB pro since 2006 and it still works and hasn't had any errors. You all fail if you managed to break it.
Yeah just like OP said I got RROD on my original Xbox. Even worse I had to buy and install a ring so it could display the RROD.
I don't know about you, but I've had my 360 for almost three years now.
And nothing is wrong with it.
I know how to fix it without sending it back. :downs:
I don't understand what the conspiracy is.
Mine RROD'd once, and that was cause I purposley overheated it and left it on overnight with a buncha blankets on it.
Free Fix anyways.
I don't get why everyone is so pissed. At least Microsoft came out and announced they'd fix all of the Xbox's that RROD for free (for like 3 years), there losing money fixing them for free and including free shipping.
I just sent mine back to microsoft and they fixed it and gave me silver xbox live!
Really? They gave me a 3 month AND an extra 1 month gold card...
And it's not a conspiracy dumbass, anyone who was a smart buyer of electronics would purchase an extended warranty for the product.
How can it not scare customers away? Its like "Buy this ps3 warranty because it has no games and the warranty will make it have games"
I bought one off my friend a year ago and it RRoD about 4 days after. I just ignored it for about a year till I finally got around to replacing the thermal paste. Works quite nicely.
