• So Hello Neighbor is in Beta, and yikes...

Okay, it's been two days since the last comment (mine of course). What are your opinions of Hello Neighbor at the moment? You must admit that they used the houses from pre-Alpha 3 to gain feedback, and that the Neighbor's final house is meant to be crazy and appear as if several other houses were mashed & stacked together.
Looks like Goodbye Neighbour it is.
seems to me like a case of the dev thinking more space = more game rather than laser focusing on a tight gameplay loop
Should've of just made it level based. "Finish the First House, onto the Second House". Or something like that. Instead of "THROW MORE SHIT ON THE SHIT"
Ahhh, what a shame. The premise and artstyle itself is wasted potential.
The "announcement trailer" -
The earlier version looked so much better.
E3 2017 "beta gameplay" trailer -

Good lord this looks bad, I feel sorry for everyone who had high hopes for this game.
They were literally tricked by videos like this.. Showing 'actual' in-game footage that amount to completely fabricated/heavily scripted cut-scenes representative of NONE of the product. Hope y'all recover your coins..
I am so confused by this sequence of events Like at the beginning you're moving into the neighbourhood right? But... you're moving into the neighbor's old abandoned house? But he's implied to still be in the house? Then you suddenly fall asleep out of nowhere and he's in your nightmares even though you've never really encountered him? Then you wake up in the house on the opposite side of the street. Or at least I assume so since your and/or the neighbor's house is suddenly a completely different franken-house so maybe its not even the same neighborhood anymore. But your car is still there, except instead of just being parked outside the house it's crashed through the fence.
I can't believe this is set to release the end of this month. When even jacksepticeye rags on your game you've goofed up. I can't wait for the deceptive launch trailer, and shitstorm that will ensue. Even with more time, this would not go anywhere. TinyBuild is acting like a big publisher that can take the blow, but this will just end up as brand suicide for them. Probably not though, its videogames after all.

(They're presumably about the player character's fears from his childhood? I looked at a Russian Hello Neighbor Wiki for that, too bad the Gamepedia site for this game is very empty.) However, the player's car is yellow, Neighbor's one is red (and the devs call him a bad driver man).
Believe it or not, Markiplier's video is a lot less annoying to watch than the one in the OP. It's also kind of a more interesting perspective because he's trying really hard to like the game but just can't.
Why was anyone excited for this? The original trailer always seemed really obviously scripted
Why was anyone excited for this? Did it look "amazing"? No, not at all. But it looked like there was really something here that could be expanded upon for a fun experience, but instead, they did what they're doing now.

A shame they are very fucking good at breaking everything in following builds. [SP]How many times have I said this?[/SP] Fucking Russians and Alex Nichiporchik… they need a mouthful of scolding in pure Russian because they released everything so early before playtesting everything PROPER.
Why was anyone excited for this? The original trailer always seemed really obviously scripted
Trailers don't have to be unscripted gameplay. Hell, that's why Cinematic trailers are even a thing. The way I see it (especially with these beta/alpha-type games) is that the first trailer (if it has gameplay) is more a "proof of concept" than any real representation of the final product. Usually the dev would write this somewhere in a pre-roll or at the bottom of the video buuut tinyBuild didn't...
Any real smart AI would have just stood outside the door they were trying to unlock since they had no reason to do otherwise, maybe they should have had the AI have to eat, shower, etc.

About 4 of my friends are fulltime youtubers, and they've done so much content on this game. And they even said it's going to crash and burn, so they used it as much as they could. But their viewers for some reason love it. It's a three way disappointment.

And it just confuses me because I don't understand why you would be more interested in some backstory than the actual gameplay :s: People aren't even discussing if the update is disappointing or good in those videos, they're all going "what if this is happening, what's this picture mean, what's new to add to our ideas" and stuff like that. I think it's a bit weird. I mean good for them! But I feel like the game should be good on top of having lore stuff.

People are more attracted to the lore rather than the game. Which is perfectly fine, I've played plenty of games with terrible controls but decent story. On the other hand this doesn't look like it would be worth the slog just to find a decent bit of story.
It doesn't even seem like there's any story here whatsoever, just wasted concepts that go nowhere unfortunately.
The few hints we have are that the hero has been evicted from his apartment due to not paying the rent, which he can't 'cause he lost his job… then that after moving in... he's moved to a house across from the one they grew up in, which now has a dark secret to it. The Russian Hello Neighbor wiki claims or suggests that the nightmare sequences in Alpha 4 and after are from the protagonist's childhood fears, but what about that TinyBuild and Dynamic Pixels? Can you Vodka Drunkenskis give us any clues? I don't expect to buy this game, but the main thing I like most about it is stuff you can do to the Neighbor and objects that can be thrown around the place.
I may come off as annoying in this thread now, but Alpha 2 is now available for free with the release of Beta 3. They've also delayed this game's release to December 8, which sounds kinda reasonable…
I'm still optimistic, it's a good move from the developer to delay the game. I have a feeling it might get delayed again, but it's still a better decision than releasing the game unfinished
idk, didn't know where to post: they realized that they didn't do much QA, they try to fix a lot of stuff and such.
Beta 3 is now live We just released Beta 3 to everyone who pre-purchased the game on PC We understand the previous betas sucked and there are no excuses for that Beta 3 fixes most of the issues, we spent a ton of time fixing the game after moving to the release codebase Beta 3 contains only about 40% of the game New launch date is December 8 Since we didn't allocate enough time for QA, and had all hell break lose during the first beta, we need to take more time to finish the game We screwed up and don't want to pretend like it's all OK, locking down into a deep crunch until December 8 Other options were to release something buggy, or cut content -- both would disappoint everyone
http://steamcommunity.com/games/521890/announcements/detail/1451702179002625090
Like I said, I'm not sure if December 8 is feasible, but if delaying it again is needed then I'm for it
