Time to play this again. Can't believe it has been three years. It sure as hell doesn't feel like three years. Anyone else?
I love Crysis.
I didn't really like shooting aliens that much, it was fun but not as fun as trying to get past a bunch of Koreans. You couldn't headshot the aliens AFIAK.
I was making a sandbox mod for it like gmod and got far. All that was left pretty much was registering new entities from lua. I think the sdk is limited here or I just didn't know how. (I reimplemented Lua, the Lua implementation it had wasn't that great.)

Oh and I bought warhead on steam, played it a few times, and now it says

after reinstalling windows a few times
:frown:
i'd love fallout on this engine
How come Crytek doesn't work in a country where they are not limited by censorship?
Game was fun, but worth one playthrough IMO.
Those animations... Those player movements... So smooth. I want the next Fallout to be on this.
well that's all wrong
just because you played it once and then spouted the same shit for 3 years after doesn't make it true
it has great ai, don't be sweyed by those few youtube videos where it glitches. a glitch isn't a part of the ai, and it doesn't mean the ai is bad. and terminator like enemies? i have to assume that you just suck at the game. and bad ragdoll physics? how? they're great. dead bodies do not ragdoll however due to german laws, since crytek is a germany based company.
quit spewin this shit it's not true at all
I bought Crysis on the day it was released and im the author of one of the most popular custom maps out there.
Enemies see you through bushes, enemies run against you instead of going for cover, there is so much wrong with the AI, but I cant tell you right now because I havent played Crysis in the last year.
Ragdolls are stiff and not organic enough, dont come at me with that german laws bullshit, we all know that Crytek decided to censor it, not the german law. Germany didnt force Crytek to do so.

Turn off the sound if youre a close minded person.
Personally, i thought the aliens was a good turning point.

You're absolutely right. German law prohibits the sale of video games with 'unnecessary' violence. Things like being able to shoot dead bodies over the edge of a cliff, or amputate limbs, because that isn't important to the gameplay. But that's it. There's nothing prohibiting the development of games with such content.
I'd assume they made it that way so they would be able to sell the game all over the world without tailoring a special version for Germany. But you only need to look at the game to see it had a massive development budget. The cost of making and releasing a non-violent version of the game for Germany would be insignificant compared to what they had to work with.
Ah, back in 2007 I specifically assembled my pc that it could run Crysis on very high. It was like a benchmark (and a good game). Too bad Crysis 2 doesn't seem to be that breathtaking.
I don't know what some of you are hating on. I played the game on low-medium when it got released and I still found it to be more fun that most other games, because you can destroy most stuff around you, and fuck around with the enemies using the cloak (because of the good AI).
It isn't that much nostalgia if i fail to run the game anyway.

At least it looks like it's going to be fun, y'know that important part of a game that Crytek seems to only be bothered with for the first half.
Crysis 2 was kinda bleh when I played it at Eurogamer, it didn't look fantastic because I was constantly moving and stopping meant I got shot a lot.
remember when everyone thought you needed a super computer to run this
I was invited to test crysis2 mp. It's for the xbox only and I don't have that.
I think I remember seeing a key but I can't find it anywhere in my mail, so I think I'll be sent one when the testing starts.
I'd like to give it away to someone who has a good reason for it. I don't want it to get in the "wrong hands" but I'll have to wait until I find or get the key.
Remember when "But can it run crysis?" was fun?

Really? German law allows you to hulk smash people into buildings and crush them with waste bins in videogames but you're not allowed seeing their bodies flop around?
:psyduck:
Eh, I think it's pretty good. At least it's less military, and Psycho making witty jokes.
What's wrong with the Alien levels? The last level, when [sp]you fight aliens on the ship[/sp], was pretty rad.
I really love the visuals of Crysis.
I mean just look at this

This must be the only game that can do stuff like that.
I remember when I got my first gaming computer I was awake all night the night before with the excitement of nearing the ability to play crysis.
I love the game, and the editor.

We can only wait and hope...
Crysis has an amazing engine.
People who "nostaliga"'d over a three-year old game probably aren't old enough to have experienced the meaning of nostalgia.
Yeah Crysis was a fun but it never really stuck with me or gave me any really memorable moments. Just played through it twice, second time only because I had modded graphics settings. The game engine was/is what made the game good really. I had a lot more fun just going around blowing up buildings, cutting trees and driving around than I had immersing myself into the role of Nomad the one-man army vs Koreans and ice aliens.
I find that when chopping down trees is more interesting than killing enemies and pushing the plot forward, you've got a pretty flawed action game.
The game is like a dumb whore. You should only value it for its looks, if even that.

Horror game using CryEngine would be so damn cool, Cryostasis used CryEngine but it was boring.
PC classic my ass, Crysis was fun until Crytek decided to go "hurr you're goin 2 b killin alienz nao!!!"
I agree completely, it always seemed like the Aliens were an afterthought.
[editline]19th October 2010[/editline]
The actual campaign was devoid of emotion for me, it was just "fight this, blow up that". At times it felt like i was in a Micheal Bay movie.
I love Crysis, the game was great fun. The alien levels were a bit so-so, some were fun like the one in the aircraft carrier and the alien ship one (a bit confusing though) some of the others were crap though like the VTOL mission.
I think the biggest problem with the aliens was the AI of them, they mostly sat still and shot at you. Warhead fixed that though and made them really fun to fight.
Maybe I'm getting old, but personally I hardly consider Crysis being a classic. It's still kind of next-gen to me. Classic would be games like Deus Ex or Red Alert 2.
Horror game using CryEngine would be so damn cool, Cryostasis used CryEngine but it was boring.
Cryostasis did NOT use cryengine.
The graphics engine for Cryostasis is AtmosFear 2.0 and shows off some sweet DX10 affects. According to Action Forms, this engine features:
Unified Dynamic Shadowing system - fully dynamic, moving light sources casting soft shadows on all objects
Parallax mapping/displacement, alpha and color projective, depth of field, gloss map, tone mapping
Advanced characters' and objects' physics
Realistic fur dynamically illuminated by light sources
The graphics seem to capture the feeling of being stranded and cold like few other engines can. An official Tech Demo for the game engine was recently released to demonstrate the various bells and whistles of the graphics engine and also the new PhysX technology features. Here are some screenshots from this demo. These were all taken at the highest image quality and 2560 X 1600 resolution. Click on an image to see the larger version (Opens in new window).
