Cryostasis did NOT use cryengine.

[sp] lol the game has "cry" in the beginning of its name it must use the cryengine [/sp] :downs:
Far Cry and Crysis have 'Cry' in their names and they use CryEngine so :downs: for you.
It was simply logical conclusion. Plus Cryostasis felt like CryEngine game and i'm sure that i read somewhere that it uses CryEngine's elements.
Too bad this game is absolute shit. The graphics are alright but the gameplay is awful.
Give it a year when RAGE is out and that game will become the new benchmark test for seeing how powerful your computer is and serve as a benchmark.
I got stuck on the [sp]zero G[/sp] levels. Spent literally at least 30 minutes just going round and round and could not find a fucking way out or way to get anywhere. I think I've lost my save since then so I'd have to start from the beginning again.
Crysis reminds me of my recently passed away grandma, who I got it from
I've beaten Crysis on my old PC: Sempron 2400+ 1.7GHz, 768MB RAM and Radeon 9550. It was very laggy at the end of the game, but I somehow made it.
And as soon as I bought Radeon HD3650 with active cooling, I had a good fun tweaking it.
I was invited to test crysis2 mp. It's for the xbox only and I don't have that.
Same here.
People who "nostaliga"'d over a three-year old game probably aren't old enough to have experienced the meaning of nostalgia.
It's funny because no one mentioned "Nostalgia" in the video. It only mentions "classic". Crysis was so popular even before the release. And every gamer in the world knows about this game - I'm sure that's what you call a Classic.
People complained about the pinpoint AI in the game, I think you guys are just used to dumb AI.
Like that first video, if you were alert and searching for somebody because your friend just got killed by a bullet coming from a direction in the bushes, I think you'd notice this ominous black blob with an equally dark gun sticking out from the bushes.
What i always liked about it was that bushes and cover would actually hide you from the ai, and using stealth was a viable tactic, even when not cloaked. Having the most insanely well built ai helped too.
Oh god, now I want to play this (and warhead) again. Anybody got some nice playthroughs with good commentary? Also some of those config tweaks that make the games look better would be great too.

Seriously this, those are beautiful levels but a pain in the fucking ass to find your way through.
I just reinstalled Crysis again and the horrible AI was obvious from the first level on.
Seriously, you got 2 NK's, you shoot one and run to grab the other one. He runs in a triangle and then
trips over his dead buddy, tries to run for cover and then trips again. While im standing right in front of him.
NK's require 8-12 shots to the body until they die, superhumans or what.

Yep...was hiding in a bush one time, and couldn't figure out how they kept seeing me and shooting me...eventually realized I had equipped the flashlight to my SCAR :P

Still much better than most modern warfare games.

I was referring to this thread in general. Crysis is "popular" (more like well-known) mostly on account of the massive pre-release hype and its push forward in the technology department. Some of its fame also relates to its flaws such as performance issues, plot, lack of promised non-linearity, AI issues and repetitiveness.
Last time I checked being famous doesn't equate being classic. Even when Crysis has aged it still won't attain such status, because the moment a game comes along that beats it in graphics it will likely be largely forgotten.

Well you're wrong.

Anything is better than MW2.

I honestly didn't experience any of this. The game ran OK on my 8800gt but it's a crappy card.
What I remember was that people complained about the game to be cool and say that the game sucked just because it has good graphics and trying not to be amazed. Kind of like they thought gameplay and graphics were unbalanced. This resulted in them trying to find every little bad detail about the game, spreading rumors about them and probably exaggerating too (like all rumors). From what I remember it was mostly a bandwagon.
I remember people saying "all you do is kill Koreans" which isn't even true. There's more to the game if you play it beyond the first few levels. My point is that people probably played it for 10 min with their mind being prepared for it to be shitty. I can understand if they thought killing people in an fps is boring.
All you did mostly in HL2 was to kill combines and aliens. It's been a while since I played it but it wasn't that good. I liked ep1 and ep2 much better.
So what was so good about HL2? Was it because HL1 was awesome, so their mind were set to think HL2 was awesome too? Honestly the only reason I enjoy HL1 is because I played it as a kid and I loved it as a kid so I still like it. Nostalgia or something.
My thoughts on Crysis:
The game didn't feel repetitive at all.
The plot is good, but not super amazing.
I didn't notice anything wrong with the AI.
I find Warhead much better than Crysis 1, but it's also shorter. It was more cinematic and stuff. Most likely because they've learned from last time. So hopefully Crysis 2 will probably be even better.

I didn't expect it to be a long post
Amazing game, shame about the aliens not being so great in the first, but the last mission was spectacular. Warhead was so much fun too.
I honestly preferred fighting the North Koreans to fighting the aliens, so I didn't care for Crysis Warhead that much, since the game starts shortly before the island gets iced...
Crysis was rather non-linear. Think about the bay...there are so many ways to get to your objectives once the sun rises and you reach the bay with the two jets overhead....can blast your way up the street, stealth across the sand, or swim or boat across the water, avoiding most of the checkpoints...same for sneaking into the village in OP's video...
The thing I don't like about aliens in most games is that it's like they have some sort of shield. Like in halo where every player has a shield so you just have to hit them a lot. I like it when there are not so easy ways to instantly kill something.
True. And the airfield siege was pretty epic.
Since when is this piece of shit a "Classic"?

Since people like you raged about how bad their PCs sucked and couldnt run it on highest settings.

I agree completely. I didn't even find HL2 (before the episodes) that great. Still it is definitely a must for PC gamers.
I play on my Fermi 450, and it only runs on Low @ 60FPS
Holy crap, it has indeed already been three years.
Crysis was definitely a solid title, although one of its purposes was undoubtedly to be a rig tester and an eye candy, I am not saying that as an insult though, I am just stating it as a fact, and as one of the main purposes that the game had.
Crysis: Warhead has a good few missions before the island gets iced. You have to break into a port and onto a submarine, which you are kept aboard when it gets iced. You fight koreans during the icy parts, and there's more combat outside of the ice sphere. If anything a larger % of the game is fighting koreans than in the first one!
No way is that true, the last hour or so of Crysis was Alien
My ol 9600Gt cant handle Crysis so well :frown:
When it came out, I was lagging through it with all on low, 800x600, 15fps, shit fucking kicked ass fuck yeah baby it was like crack.
herpderp aliens fuck this shit and that's where I stopped playing.
Crytek always does that.
Far Cry: On vaction OH FUCK ALIENS!
Crysis: On a military evac mission OH FUCK ALIENS!
Far Cry 2: On a regime change mission OH FU...Wait.
