My first kid is due is less than 3 months. I'm 24, 25 in June. Seems like a pretty good age to have kids. So hype.
Considering childless couples are becoming an increasingly common thing I would say that's not at all naive. I mean, when women can get careers and aren't as bound by society to poop out and nurture kids, the reason to actually have any are dwindled substantially.
It's kind of a natural instinct, it's never been a calculated rational thing. I'm not saying it's naive to think you'll never want kids, just that it's naive to think your current position on the subject is indicative of your entire future.
What's the deal with eugenics, anyway? Why do people react so aggressively against it when it is so much as mentioned?
I'm fine with abortion for severe mental problems but he literally said autism. Autism's a huge spectrum and tons of people with it are functioning just fine. And fine, maybe he himself doesn't want the burden, that's all well and good, but he goes on proclaim anybody who doesn't share his view and aborts their child because it has autism is committing child abuse. That's idiotic. That's trying to cull a huge chunk of the population who are able to function just because they don't function well enough for his world view
Yeah but there's a difference between being able to afford something and being able to afford it and also live the exact same way you did before.
For me, it's not only that. When you're looking at the future, you have no idea what it's going to be like. You have no guarantee that anything will be possible in that future and i guess i feel that i have no business imposing that kind of clumsy mannerism onto anybody. And then you ask yourself what was it for? There's a life beyond pro creating, there's a lot more to do in the world and a lot more waste to entertain yourself with than raising families.
