You're taking hate very literally here so I probably shouldn't have used that word. Does dislike sound better?
its the internet, and no, its criticism.
What I'm trying to get at is just because something is simple and meant to be accessible doesn't mean it's bad. It's not immune to criticism but the attitude just came as a surprise to me.

It's like attending a class meant for people of every level and complaining the material's too easy for you. Not everyone has the same foundations so the teacher's gotta make sure everyone's on the same page.
This is simply an excuse, ignoring the entire point that while he may want to cover certain things for people with no prior knowledge, that does not make his work immune from criticism in the same way that a professor teaching a foundations course could also be a poor professor who dilly-dallies all day.
Why are you and others so hellbent on shielding pannen from valid criticism? It's regressive and unhelpful.
"Don't criticise this!" and "you should criticize an informational video as an informational video, rather than something made for your entertainment" have different meanings.
No need to strawman ZestyLemons for saying the latter

Things made to be informative can also be entertaining and well made.
There was no strawman, I had directly addressed their point.
His uncommented videos are poorly paced and have unnecessary embellishment. More succinct explanations would convey the ideas better and make for more entertaining videos.
reminder that this is what i originally said, and this was my response to zesty:
his intentions dont mean his videos are immune to criticism
the latter is directly applicable to the former. i also expounded on this in responding to buu's analogy.
please dont throw around logical fallacies just to discredit people. it's valid criticism not even directed at anyone here. even if yall dont agree that doesnt change a thing as i could cite plenty of videos strictly made to inform that are far better made than his works, including ones that pannen has made himself.
whew you know youre striking a nerve when nobody can refute your criticism but rather dont like that youre saying it

Yeah because if we don't reply within 3 hours it must be that there's no comeback to your epic arguments.
Or maybe people have lives outside of the forum.
As for the topic itself, you're entitled to your opinion and I don't think anyone can convince you that you shouldn't look for the entertainment value in an informational video.
I've never seen anyone rating a university paper for how entertaining it is, but maybe it works differently on the Internet.

That's not what I was getting at. So far nobody has said anything other than to keep pointing out that it's meant to provide information, despite my continuation of buu's analogy to a poor professor showing that the same criticism applies.

Check out Two Minute Papers. It's a fantastic youtube channel if you're interested in VFX and general rendering type problems.

Another victim of the mighty Facepunch bandwagon
I was engrossed in both videos but y'all can't deny he really does spend a bit too much time explaining every little tidbit in detail

just wow...

That's the point though. It's supposed to go into every detail because all of it can potentially be used to make a speedrun faster.

If the videos are meant to be in depth technical analyses of aspects of the game, then I don't see how explaining everything is time wasted really. The more information you have, including weird edge cases, the better your TAS can be after all. Explaining absolutely everything makes the videos useful for people just getting into the whole thing, whilst leaving important information there for people who know the simple stuff already.
Though changing up the fucking music from time to time wouldn't hurt holy shit.

Were thirty seconds of staring at the same zoomed-in camera really necessary? to make an example

What part are you referring to?

Maybe he would benefit from a decent editor, but I don't think there are that many examples of that, he shows just enough for the viewer to be able to reproduce it themselves in a TAS
