I want you to rethink this a bit. Someone has a gun. They are pissed. They want to inflict pain onto others. They don't care who, they just want someone else to feel as bad as or worse than them. Do they care who they hurt? Not at all. As long as it's convenient for them, they don't care who they hurt.
School shootings that happen often target a specific person or group, but at the same time never care about the well being of others. If you are in their way, you will be shot/stabbed. If you can identify them, you are a target. The only safe place is where they are not.
People do shoot random people. No one ever said there was a good reason for it. There is never a good reason for harming others.
