. . .Because it's a trippy album? And that's what trippy albums make you feel like?
No not all trippy albums give me the same experience. This one was unique.
In my personal opinion. God is existence. I'm not ready to go into depth because I'm not arsed to, but you get my point. [editline]6th May 2011[/editline] I'm not talking about psychosis, I'm talking about music.
I'm sorry fella, but existence is already existence. Why attach the word God to existence? God isn't an adjective you know. [editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
No not all trippy albums give me the same experience. This one was unique.
Then it was a good album. What, are you suggesting that Pink Floyd has a connection to the farplane or some shit? They made some noises that they liked and now you're listening to them. Music isn't an arcane process of wizardry and ritual you know.
I'm not ready to go into depth because I'm not arsed to, but you get my point.
"Yeah, I could explain what I'm saying but I just can't be troubled to do it."
"Yeah, I could explain what I'm saying but I just can't be troubled to do it."
He doesn't really need to if his premise is flawed. Which it is.
I'm sorry fella, but existence is already existence. .
I'm making it adjective because I haven't found the right word yet.
I'm making it adjective because I haven't found the right word yet.
I don't think there is one, make one up.
I'm making it adjective because I haven't found the right word yet.
But it doesn't describe anything. That's why it's a noun, and not an adjective.
He doesn't really need to if his premise is flawed. Which it is.
Of course it's flawed. I haven't finished it yet.
I don't think there is one, make one up.
That'd make even less sense. [editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
Of course it's flawed. I haven't finished it yet.
Are you going to write a dissertation on how god is existence or something?
I'm making it adjective because I haven't found the right word yet.
It doesn't matter! You haven't even told us what your new definition of God is anyway, so you might as well have not said anything at all! And by the way, if you're using the word god as an adjective, that means you don't believe God exists and are an atheist. So congratulations.
Humanism doesn't have anything to do with the brain being a deity. I can't even figure out what the fuck that means. The brain is a God? Does that make the spine an angel?
you said that the brain being god makes the human god
Then it was a good album. What, are you suggesting that Pink Floyd has a connection to the farplane or some shit? They made some noises that they liked and now you're listening to them. Music isn't an arcane process of wizardry and ritual you know.
It's not only Pink Floyd. A lot of artists I've listened to have done it.
Of course it's flawed. I haven't finished it yet.
Finished what? Jesus Christ you are so fucking nebulous. Talking to you is like talking to static coming out of my radio. [editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
you said that the brain being god makes the human god
Yeah, technically. I don't understand how that works if the brain doesn't really do anything godlike, but fuck, it's his definition now I guess. [editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
It's not only Pink Floyd. A lot of artists I've listened to have done it.
Then let me rephrase that for you. What, are you suggesting that ANYONE has a connection to the farplane or some shit? They made some noises that they liked and now you're listening to them. Music isn't an arcane process of wizardry and ritual you know.
That'd make even less sense.
If he has a new idea, a adjective that doesn't exist then you should make it up.
It doesn't matter! You haven't even told us what your new definition of God is anyway, so you might as well have not said anything at all!
You said Atheism was defined by one way of thinking. So no, you're wrong. :smug:
It's defined by not believing in any deity, if you believe in a deity then you are a theist.
You said Atheism was defined by one way of thinking. So no, you're wrong. :smug:
uhhh, the dictionary said that it's defined as someone who does not believe in god In your dictionary, God isn't a noun. God is an adjective. So you think the word is an adjective, that means you don't even have a word for a God. If you don't even have a word for a God, I doubt you believe that it's a literal construct. If you don't think that God exists as a literal construct, you are an atheist. Not that I understand why I'm explaining this, considering you're one notch above Charles Manson in terms of legibility. [editline]6th May 2011[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-I5y3EOYFbSg/TWJgT75MNVI/AAAAAAAAAr8/ldXn4I22xWo/s400/big-smug.png[/img_thumb]
I'd think you were trolling but I don't know if trolls can even be this extraordinarily obtuse.
Okay. Go ahead. Why do I feel as though I was in another world while listening to Pink Floyd's Meddle album? :smugdog:
It's the same thing that would happen to you if you spent a few minutes in a sensory deprivation tank. You can also create feelings of transcendence, invisible others watching you, and a comforting sense of infinite vastness by exposing a section of the brain to TMS. Deep meditation can have that effect as well, and I've always found prog rock very effective to that end.
. Not that I understand why I'm explaining this, considering you're one notch above Charles Manson in terms of legibility.
Funny you should say that. Charles Manson's last album gave me an eerie feeling too :v:
You need to have hung around the music section for a while to get him.
I'll stick to the drawing section. At least I can understand what the fuck the weirdoes and the furries and the bipolar asshole are saying.
The main question I have has to do with Christianity and perhaps Catholicism. It seems that in the Bible, many great feats occur (Parting the sea, turning water into wine, burning bush, Virgin Mary, etc.), however I'd like to know why is it only now that God has decided to stop doing these sorts of divine acts. It seems like it only occurred during a time where records of events weren't necessarily credible or verifiable, yet people of faith still regard these things as fact, and I find it intriguing. If you believe in Islam, I'd like to know why the Quran contains verses in it that completely contradict each other (As I've heard, certain parts of it were written earlier, and some parts later on). If you're a Mormon, I'd just like to know how people knew Joseph Smith was telling the truth. I don't know too much about the Mormon faith, but any intelligent discussion is a good one.
Well I am a Mormon, and I believe that Joseph Smith wasn't a liar because I've prayed about it. Towards the end of the Book of Mormon (a sacred text which we use similar to the Bible but concerning people in North America), the Prophet Moroni asks the reader to pray about it sincerely to see if he and others have said is true, and he promises that if you do it you will get an answer, and that the Holy Ghost will manifest its truth to you. That is why we believe it. And faith of course.
Soul music did it first.
True, but take a step back and you'll find that it only has that effect because of heavy borrowing from black gospel. A genre who's entire purpose was to induce that kind of mental state.
True, but take a step back and you'll find that it only has that effect because of heavy borrowing from black gospel. A genre who's entire purpose was to induce that kind of mental state.
Thank you. Why don't I see you in the music section more often?

But continue believing in your crazy, racist, backwater crap.
Well I am a Mormon, and I believe that Joseph Smith wasn't a liar because I've prayed about it.
Ah, the lovely self-serving bias of prayer. The man was such a fraud he makes L. Ron Hubbard look credible. Seriously, it's no longer the 19th century. You can't include things we know to be false in your holy books and expect to be taken seriously.
the Prophet Moroni asks the reader to pray about it sincerely to see if he and others have said is true, and he promises that if you do it you will get an answer, and that the Holy Ghost will manifest its truth to you.
By that logic, you can't really know that the guy spamming your inbox in not a Nigerian prince until you put some money up.
And faith of course.
Faith is ignorance. Reason is what separates us from beasts, and to ask one to suspend reason is to intentionally retard and even destroy the mental facilities that make us human.
Believing you are your own god is satanism guys. It actually has nothing to do with "satan" himself, very interesting religion and honestly I agree with a portion of it. But regardless I do not believe in everything therefore I remain separate from any religions.

It's meant to be a satire and intentionally doesn't take itself seriously...yet requires you to pay for membership. Ave Satani.
