Basically once you register only two forums show, kinda like how you get banned you can only see the RC. The bots don't know the forum they're spamming is not viewable by guests, or members so their spam is unseen. As if it never existed. Real humans go to the second forum saying their human and not a bot, moderator approves and then the user is free to post on facepunch. While all bots are out of site. Maybe get a janitor to massban them if you want.
This pretty much gets rid of the bots problem.

Fast Threads has really slowed down, sometimes there's 5 minutes or more between posts. Idiot cull definitely effective. If only Poppy did something like this on RSOF...
The idiot cull thread shouldn't be instant, the posts should gather up and everyone should get perma'd when it reaches a couple of pages.

Yeah, I'm quite sure the earlier idiot culls just told people not to post there, and people started posting and discussing shit. Now people can just see that everyone else got permabanned. What they don't know is that they can't register a new account, so it's still a smaller yet more permanent idiot cull.

I vote on bringing smartness back. The idea that a forum actually held its members to high standards was amazing to me.
When it comes to the steamaccount idea, terrible idea, there are ways of getting around it. Like The Ship glitch, where you can endlessly gift The Ship on and on forever to activate steam accounts.
So you could end up with someone on a dynamic IP that keeps coming back and shitposting because he bought The Ship a few year back.
And not everyone on this forum is here for GMod anymore, so you can't go along that approach. Neither are they all here with Steam.
I'll write up my idea in a bit.

The idea of owning gmod to register was already pretty much dead, but having a steam account with a game is a pretty reasonable expectation.
Don't underestimate the stupidity and determination of some people, it makes these messes in the first place.

That makes no sense. It punishes people who followed the rules (which clearly state that rating is allowed). If anything, make every single (deserved) ban from now on a permaban. Sudden death mode; zero tolerance for mistakes.

I think it would be fucking hilarious if autobans were brought back. Somehow keep changing the words so whenever a mod got tired of something they could just create an autoban for it. Stuff like "XD" and the like. Or even for memes and stuff, although that kinda borders into internet hipster territory

Bizarre ban phrases like "to the bunker" were brilliant, caught a few people out by getting them to carry on a sentence about golf once
Why can't we just have a steam linking system. Like you can't join unless you link you steam account (which must have gmod) and the steam account is permanently tied to your gmod account so if you get permabanned you would need to have another steam account with gmod.

Requiring gmod wouldn't be that nice, probably best if it's generally restricted to one paid game.
Or finish up the idiot cull and continue like normal, I think this is what garry's doing.
