Agressive/proud atheists are worse than religious freaks

So should they all be ashamed :v: ?
Only idiots would ever go to a rally about atheism.
Depends on the type of rally. If it was going to be serious with speakers from respected fields then I would probably go. This rally seems more like a fun social event for them.

They were being polite and they weren't calling anyone stupid. Maybe a little annoying but nothing worse then that. You can be proud of your belief without being a douche.
Why is it that Atheists can't hold theistically centered gatherings without everyones prejudice, but when Christians do it... No matter how aggressive and provoking, it's just "YOU GO GIRL!"
But then again. If an Atheist goes to a theistically centered gathering, he's not an atheist. More like an Anti-theist.
Gatherings over any other fairy tales than our great uncle, H.C. Andersen's tales, should be banned since it's harmful to peoples sense of reality. They start citing them as fact. Well, You better fucking leave that breadcrumb trail alone then! Oh wait... Brothers Grimm...

Or disbelief.

that depends entirely on the tone and message of the gathering
I am on the fence on religion. I'd say i'm like half atheist half catholic, but that would sound stupid. I believe in some things and don't believe others.
The people they talked to seemed to be pretty normal people.

I somewhat agree, people like The Amazing Atheist are awful, but there's nothing wrong with being an atheist openly. The people in the video seemed okay.
that depends entirely on the tone and message of the gathering
Well. Sure. If you mean "if he goes to church". There really isn't a reason for Atheists to gather for theistic arguments. That's either theism or anti-theism.
I'd never go to a gathering with atheist with the specific purpose to discuss theistic subjects. That is a waste of my time because A/ No one believes anything the other does and 2/ Worlds biggest circle jerk.
I wouldn't mind going to church from time to time, or whatever. But the point of Atheism is that Religion isn't a big deal to them personally and only really concerns them when Romney and other people want people to conform to religious tossery.
Spirituallity, sure. But then it's not an Atheist gathering, Then it's a spiritual gathering and they've always got basis in some or other mythology.
Agressive/proud atheists are worse than religious freaks
Yeah because proud atheists hurt people's itty bitty feelings on the internet, which is wholly worse than things like child rape, summary executions for apostasy, suicide bombings, firebombings (of abortion clinics in the west,) constant assaults upon homosexuals, murders of homosexuals, and all that stuff.
[editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
Yeah, we're WORSE, because we say mean things to you on the god damn internet.
Maybe if you call me an "anti-theist" then you can pretend disrespecting religion is worse than the internationally recognized crimes and human rights violations that religions get away with every day. Because they're totally comparable.

I believe in the most basic interpretation of the philosophy: "Play Nice and durr"
Bill O'Reilly, top notch troll.
He is the shining example of fair and balanced reporting at FOX.
wait fuck
ok so if you only do good intentions and you never do anything illegal, god autobans you to hell because you don't believe in him
logic
Only idiots would ever go to a rally about atheism.
I get what you're saying, but it'd still be cool to see people like Richard Dawkins and James Randi talk in person.
Oh those silly atheists.
Agressive/proud atheists are worse than religious freaks
To be honest... knowing Fox...? Being the O'Reilly Factor and all... I wouldn't be surprised if the interviews were spliced to make them sound worse than it did.
For all we know the one part where the guy said, "Have you ever prayed before?" That could have very well been 3-4 different conversations spliced together to make him look like a tool.

Fox is known on Facepunch for editing, they edit a lot of their interviews/videos of or with people with views that the channel disagrees on and edits it to make said people seem inferior.
Oh those silly atheists.
Oh those cute retards. IF only society actually kept them from guns and power... That would be very cute.
Dat Fox News hate.
Bill o' Reilly has been known to think waves and tides were never explained and thought they were proof of god. Him and Fox News having trouble understanding gravity isn't even a stretch.
Fox News is getting pretty desperate if it has to waste time attending Atheist Rallies. Is it so hard to ignore them and actually report on something worthwhile?
Agressive/proud atheists are worse than religious freaks
Yeah i totally bombed that abortion clinic yesterday, indoctrinated my son and treated my 10 wives like cattle.
Oh and oppressed a bunch of homosexuals while i was at it!
We are talking about the show run by Bill O'Reilly? The guy who doesn't know how tides work has been shown to over exaggerate everything about the things he disagrees with, right?
that jesus riding yoshi costume is hilarious

Why's that? Atheists are one of the most disparaged groups in the US. It's a rights movement waiting to happen; people need to be able to stop being afraid of being an open atheist.
Your attitude is what held back the black civil rights and the gay pride movements for so long. "Blacks/homos can be proud in their own homes, I don't want them sticking it in my face."
I feel bad to live on the Bible Belt. Most people think they should be shot. I am an atheist, but i have to keep it secret or i get disowned in a heartbeat and basically exiled from this shitty town.
this is exactly what I'm talking about
I feel bad to live on the Bible Belt. Most people think they should be shot. I am an atheist, but i have to keep it secret or i get disowned in a heartbeat and basically exiled from this shitty town.
Thing's are so different depending on where you live. I have had very little religious upbringing aside from primary school, so it's never been a part of my life or something I would consider believing in. Going from personal experience I have seen no evidence of God therefore the idea seems absurd to me. If I was 'brainwashed' from an early age however I would likely be a Christain mainly out of superstition and fear. I always go back to the argument if you were born in Israel i'd be Jewish, if i were born in America I'd be Christian. How can you believe something so truthfully when it's just your upbringing not your own choice/experience?

I was just going to post this.
The Republican Party constantly advocates Christian values (words they use, of course) and quote God as being their prime reason for doing things. The president essentially has to make a declaration of faith and say things like, "God bless America" and such or he won't be able to get elected. This is in a secular society that was supposed to have a separation of church and state. As long as atheists are getting the short end of the stick and people believe that it's okay to push their religion into legislature and disallow people from doing things that they want to do with themselves, I am all for an atheist rally.
Besides, don't we already have theist rallies? Aren't they called churches? I don't get how a bunch of people with a common belief getting together is a bad thing. Go bitch about E3 while you're at it.
