Look at these
It looks like the heel could come off if they aren't perfectly fitting on your feet. Also, a lot of crap could get in them if you run on gravel and whatnot. These are mine:
Is it only me or you can run super fast on grass when you are barefooted?
Where I am there's glass, rocks and other painful-to-step on shit. And lots of ACTUAL shit, as nobody cleans up after their dogs. So I'll stick to shoes..... But I hardly ever leave my house, so barefooted might work.
Shoes make your feet stink more than going barefoot does. And who gives a shit about social acceptability?
No, bad shoes and poorly designed socks make your feet stink. Properly designed shoes get the moisture away from your feet and keep them dry. And you should care about social acceptability. Have you never heard of "no shirt no shoes no service"?
I haven't worn shoes all summer :P The only time I do wear them, is if I go to a restaurant or shopping or some place public.
Kinda hard with -2 degrees in the morning.
Is it only me or you can run super fast on grass when you are barefooted?
Well, when humans were much more primitive creatures, we had to hunt lions and shit, so we had to run after them, or run away. Basically, that's why Kenyans are so fast. They hit the ground running when they are born, cheetah's love fresh babies
Wasn't there a read on this? But nonetheless, it's quite interesting.
Wasn't there a read on this? But nonetheless, it's quite interesting.
Was there a read? I think I read it.
Is it only me or you can run super fast on grass when you are barefooted?
Running feels faster when you're in bare feet, but I don't know if it actually is.
I was walking barefoot the other day and a single, tiny, piece of glass shard went into my heel. Ow.
I prefer barefoot, So I guess I have beaten the challenge?
Is it only me or you can run super fast on grass when you are barefooted?
Thicker skin on your feet means weaker feedback to the brain. Basically, the more you go barefoot the better it is when you go barefoot again. And to the dude above you, callouses can stop sharp metal, Mines regularly stop sharp steel guitar strings from getting through a single layer of skin, where as on standard skin it'll pierce straight through and draw blood easy.
I've been going barefoot when not in work areas for years.
Those five-finger things look like they are great for sneaking around in.
I went barefoot all the time...... Until I got 2 plantar warts on my foot.
Those five-finger things look like they are great for sneaking around in.
When I tried out parkour in them (didn't really care for parkour in general), not only were they awesome and gave me tons of grip on walls, but it was fucking silent. Normally, when people run and jump in shoes, they make that distinct thudding noise that we're all used to. In Vibrams, all you can hear is a faint tapping noise as someone runs and jumps. This is a good video about them. Shows him comfortably running on a lot of different surfaces.
I wear boots in the winter when there is snow on the ground, and moccasins when I have to go into a place that requires shoes, or sometimes I just draw shoes on my feet and people leave me alone. Barefoot is wonderful
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Cody Lundine from Dual Survival. The soles of his feet must be like leather.
If its better for your feet to be barefoot wouldnt shoes like converse chuck taylors that have a thinner and flat sole be good for you too?
Not really, they don't fix the problem at all. Your toes play a really huge part in walking/running with proper posture. Your shoes could have the thinnest soles in the world, but if they confine your toes like pretty much every single shoe does, it's not helping you at all.
FUCK! I tried this barefoot challenge and stepped on a needle while I was walking out of the FUCKING room.
FUCK! I tried this barefoot challenge and stepped on a needle while I was walking out of the FUCKING room.
Achievement unlocked: fuck up something simple instantly
I haven't worn a shoe for two weeks now I think. I don't know what kind of failures at life forever you guys are but sharp things aren't dangerous. I regularly run over scattered broken glass with no recourse, if you step right anything short of a razorblade wouldn't have enough force to penetrate you. It's like people who slip on ice, how can you slip on ice? It's slippery and all, but if you step right you'll never feel it. Ever. It's really awesome to run barefoot because not only are you no longer bogged down by the weight and restrictions of your shoes, you also need less energy to run.

Some people are gonna have plantar warts =/,
Anyone with knowledge/experience with the Vibram shoes have a suggestion of which ones to get for the winter months? (average high: 0c) (average low:-11c)
I was barefoot for alot of my holiday, Although it was so hot the ground was burning my feet.
